Watching 360 footage right now from the demo and yeah, the PS3 version is looking to be dogshit =(
PTCoakley said:Went from being pretty excited to really disappointed. The PS3 demo isn't very good looking and the controls in general are shit (also PS3 version uses R2 to shoot).
When I get home I might try it on my 360 but I seriously doubt it'll make a difference.
AgentOtaku said:As peeps on this board know, I'm a massive Lost Planet fan ....and this is a pretty big dissapointment =(
It just feels so jank. I don't know if it's because i'm playing on the PS3, shooting with R2, MT Framework not being able to render jungles well, tearing/shitty performance, woefully uneven visuals, poo poo map, lag, etc.
Something isn't right. The fact that this is being released next month doesn't leave me with enthusiam either.
I still loved the coop demo from a couple of months back though
Arpharmd B said:I'm surprised that a huge Lost Planet fan didn't have the game on 360 or PC. I mean the PS3 port was awful, plus you missed out on the amazing Colonies edition.
You can tell the 360 is also having trouble with the newly beefed up MT 2.0 engine. However, framerate and tearing are not issues with the 360 version, just image quality.
Honestly as a huge LP fan I am seriously considering building a gaming PC specifically for LP2. I'm really hoping there is cross platform play again *crosses fingers*.
AgentOtaku said:I've have Lost Planet: Extreme Condition on PC (haven't bought Colonies on PC as I don't know if there is a community anymore) and owned it on 360 back in the day. Yeah I knew the original PS3 version was nasty and this one isn't that much of an improvement it seems.
Arpharmd B said:There is.
AgentOtaku said:Yeah?
I'd want to play it with a controller, so are kids still playing on 360?
Arpharmd B said:It is one of the few 360 games with PC-360 cross platform play.
In fact it was (still is?) free to play with a silver account for this very reason ( I went silver for close to a year when I was heavily into Colonies).
If you enjoyed the coop, couldn't you just get it for the coop?Aspiring said:WOW, just wow. I have tried for hours to get this, and than i get this? What an absolute pile of shit. Dodgy twitchy controls, horrible, horrible graphics, bad framerate, terrible lag, must i go on? Everything about this demo is rubbish. Why on earth would Capcom give us this? After playing the Co-op demo i was so excited, but really i am not now, and dont even want the game. Can someone tell me why the co-op demo looked good and played well, with tight controls, but this feels so shit?
Anyway, played a few games and deleted. -1 sale Capcom.
Can someone please tell me how this game is as big as it is? Is it because it came out early in the 360's life and gave so much at the time? Because honestly, the controls are so clunky. It tries to be a TPS in the vein of Gears, even the running is the same with the camera, yet its basically Resident Evil controls, which so many people hate, as they are, well, just crap!

Anyway, I think the multiplayer demo just doesn't show the multiplayer in a good light. I loved the multiplayer in the original (especially in more unique modes like Akrid Hunt or Fugitive), but this multiplayer demo is too limited and not easy to get into. The game is very different than most shooters. For instance the normal assault rifle isn't that great for killing enemies, but it's the best weapon for continuously stunning enemies.
I'm curious, what terrible lag are people experiencing? I never experienced anything bad with the netcode in LP1 or in this demo.

Yeah 60fps at 1440x900, full dx10 details and medium shadows, so awesome.luka said:You really should get the PC version of Colonies. Because it's a GFWL cross-play title as long as people still play the 360 version there will be a community. Besides that it's more optimized and runs noticeably smoother than the original version (at least on my machine).
Best thing to do is instantly roll away if someone is waiting for you to stand up, and explosions are vital to winning in lost planet sodorkimoe said:i havent noticed to many changes, then again i didnt play to religiously. even though i loved the first one
I think im gonna play some colonies today. One thing i always hated about LP was that you get knocked down to easily and then you cant get back up because you just get shot. in LP2 i noticed the grenade damage was just ridiculous i was getting blown up quite a bit
I also played Colonies for a couple of hours last night but I don't necessarily agree. Colonies has a better image quality, no doubt, but beyond that Colonies has significantly worse grenade spam, netcode, and rolling nonsense.Diablohead said:Played a lot of lost planet colonies last night and it's so much better then this lp2 demo.
Now that's just straight up wrong. Either that or you're playing with some really shitty people.Pete Rock said:I just think the game is fundamentally broken right now, there are so many strange decisions at play in this demo. During Elimination, you can spawn basically wherever you want with a live camera directly over the spawn point, so you can wait for an ambush as a disembodied camera. Awesome. Similarly, the "data posts" in Elimination apparently control your radar, but that is made entirely pointless based on the fact that an enemy can just choose to spawn somewhere else or right next to the old data post you just put up. It's like some sort of a practical joke. Most of the full 8v8 rounds of Post Grab that I've played end with the top players having 2-3 kills, with most players seeing absolutely 0 action :lol

only downside i see so far is
1) i suck
2) i didnt see any mechsthe mechs exploding was the best part of 1
3) i didnt find 1 single weapon..other than my starting gun
edit: also what the hell is the point of an EARLY access beta? I mean seriously...a beta is already limited enough, now you limit the players even more..its a multiplayer beta..you need PEOPLE to test the game.
Pretty soon there will be early EARLy beta access for the true elite.

Can anyone confirm that Colonies is still free to play with an XBL Silver account?Arpharmd B said:It is one of the few 360 games with PC-360 cross platform play.

You have invincibility on re-spawn, but just like in Colonies, you lose invincibility if you shoot or throw a grenade. The respawning can be annoying, but since you can totally disrupt a re-spawn point by dropping the post one notch, it's not too bad.Coxswain said:Playing it a bit more, I'm not quite as down on it as I was to begin with, but yeah, it's pretty shitty compared to Colonies. Parts of that could be fixed just by a better map, but there's still some pretty fundamental problems:
- Respawning is really poorly handled. Being able to choose your spawn point, along with seeing what's going on in that part of the map beforehand, creates the really dumb situation where you can spawn right on top of somebody with five seconds of total invulnerability, while they can neither see you coming, nor do anything about you once you're there. This completely ruins modes like Post Grab, because there's no realistic way to win a match where eight people are constantly spawning, invincible, on top of the only remaining point being contested.
Plasma gun in this lp2 demo is great, you have so much t-eng that you never run out of ammo, one game I just camped back and sprayed plasma shots at the enemy, they could do little back because they had no ranged weapons. In the end I ate a grenade but it took them a good 5 minutes to get close.USD said:I just went 28-0 :lol. Plasma Gun :bow. Too bad the game still ended in a draw.

It should be since you can still play the game cross platform, I don't think ms will pull the plug on that any time soon.geebee said:Can anyone confirm that Colonies is still free to play with an XBL Silver account?
I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt that LP 2 was a little "off"... the co-op demo did not seem as bad as the MP demo, though...
