Want Yakuza 3? Tell Sega

Squeeky GAF gets the grease game. But I'm not going to hold my breath on this setting the world on fire. I'm thinking it's going to bomb like the first two outings and just have an internet cult following. It's good it's coming, though.

Sweet!

I find it interesting 1up is careful to leave open the possibility that someone other than SOA is handling this; could it be NISA's next project after Sakura Wars? I hope it isn't, they still have a minimum of four other Sakura Wars games to get out ASAP.

That would make me very happy.
I will not only buy it day one, but also harass my ps3 owning friends into buying this game so that if the game flops I can be confident that it wasn't my fault ;(

Yakuza 3 is a no-brainer, especially when the game is already completed and it showcases the PS3. They rather have The Conduit on the Wii (the trailer is better than the game) and the 3-millienth Sega Classic Collection over Yakuza 3?

I dunno...

This would imply that Yakuza 1 and 2 made money over the cost of localization. But maybe Yakuza 3 will fair slightly better. I mean if they can be profitable on the 500k units they sell in Japan...

I've heard Yakuza compared to Shenmue in some ways, is that apt? Didn't play either of the PS2 games, had already sold my PS2 stuff to fund my 360 library. Will likely buy a used PS2 to play through the old games in preparation for the PS3 game.

OH MY GAWD

IM CRYING GOLDEN TEARS HERE

No more need using guess work, no more getting frustrated because I dont know what the shit is going on.

If it gets out in the US first then I'll import DAY MOTHER FUCKING ONE

HOLD ME

great news, if true... but, having played both via faq, i can tell y'all that kenzan! is easily the better game in every way (& possibly the best game of all of'm), & i would've been waaay happier if it was kenzan! (or both) coming over...

Yeah, that's what I've heard from a lot of people who've played Kenzan!.

I've also seen some gameplay videos on Kenzan! and have notice (sort of spoiler: nothing story-related)
that a lot of 3's gameplay assets come from Kenzan! minus the hack n' slashing

Hopefully Sega says something about Kenzan! at TGS. I'm also hoping Yakuza 4 could also be announced for the US as well, but I'd be happy to play Yakuza 3 in English (I'll import Kenzan! if Sega's not gonna say anything).

Don't toy with my heart; if this isn't true we strike 1up at dawn.
I hope they just subtitle it and leave it at that. Yakuza 2 was better for it, it will save time and money.

"Or another publisher", eh?

Has Shane came through for us? Is Ignition going to be handling the western release? He will be in Tokyo (according to Garnett on this week's Listen Up) and 1UP is the site reporting this news...

Coincidence? Who knows, but I like guessing. It'd be nice if Yakuza 1 and 2 got the God of War treatment and were re-released on Blu-Ray. I'd be all over that since I never got the chance to play either of those games. (didn't own a PS2)

Right folks, lets get to work on VF5:R.

If this turns out to be false I'll be very upset.

I doubt the SEGA Community Manager would have been commenting about how Yakuza 3 localization is still a major topic of discussion at SEGA on the PS Blog if they had already handed off the rights to another publisher.

Is Ignition anywhere near large enough to handle Yakuza 3? Seems like there's a crapton of text to handle, even if they don't dub it. I've only played the demo, but I got the impression it could easily be a larger project than Sakura Wars, and NISA seems to be quite, uh, impressed by the size of that effort.

Let me put it this way: If Sega of America handed over localization of a major and current series to another publisher, I don't think it's going to stop being a "topic of discussion" for a very long time. ;)

It definitely won't be NISA. It'll likely be Sega but maybe they'll go a DD path with it.

Honestly, I never played either PS2 Yakuza game, but I might try this because Daytona USA and Monkey Ball prove that Nagoshi has the goods. Thing is, do I need to play the PS2 games to get the backstory?

AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! My avatar will now head to the 1UP offices and lie in wait just in case this doesnt come true. Don't make him punch a tiger in the face!

I LOVE the Yakuza series and Kazuma Kiryu is one of my all time favorite video game characters. Please be true! (And yes, Day 1, will buy for all of my friends, etc. etc.)

Will definitely buy this. I wonder why they are releasing this even with the poor sales of #2. Do you think they believe the series has gained an appeal since #2?

Anyways, played the first and loved it. It was some fluid combat and a decent story. Can't wait for #3 but I have to get around to #2.
