Want Yakuza 3? Tell Sega

They should pull a God of War and re-release the first two Yakuzas on Blu-ray with better resolution. That would (hopefully) pave the way for a fanbase on PS3 to embrace Yakuza 3.

Yakuza's biggest fan base already has the game. They won't spend any money on remake games that didn't sell well.

Scott is still not pleased.

I want 100% Confirmation dammit!

Yeah I'm not a fan. I only want it because I got a PS3 Slim and it looks awesome. I would definitely buy the compilation if they rereleased them on the PS3 like God of War =D

if you didn't play the first two, go look for them now. you guys are missing out.

as for the Yakuza 3 news. FUCK YEA~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would be damn awesome. This would definitely lead me to playing the first two games.

Anybody know how much data Yakuza 3 took up on the disc? If it's anywhere below 10GB then they could theoretically do a PSN release in which case they wouldn't be required to dub it. Record of Agarest War (Agarest Senki) is already being released in North America like this.

SEGA makes a good decision, news at 11.

Considering its past history in the West, I'm surprised but a bit glad that Sega will be doing the effort (if this is true) - maybe they should have tried to launch it with the Slim?

My understanding is that it uses 23 GB.

Will definitely buy this. I wonder why they are releasing this even with the poor sales of #2. Do you think they believe the series has gained an appeal since #2

The gaming climate is much more favourable for a title like this today than it was when the first two games were released. The PS3's library is a very different beast to that of the PS2, and Yakuza 3 has far fewer action/adventure/RPG titles to compete with. The first two games were considerably easier to ignore than 3 or Kenzan will be, simply by virtue of the competition.

I'm going to assume this is true because doing so makes me happy. Good job Sega! Day 1.

holy shit what the fuck

I thought there was basically no way this was coming over? Will fucking buy day 1 just to support it even if I don't get to it right away (just like Yakuza 2). DO IT SEGA

The point of a compilation re-release of Yakuza 1 & 2 would be to expand the fanbase, and make sure there's a sizable fanbase on the PS3 for Yakuza 3's arrival.

That joke only works when the sentence's subject usually makes good decisions.

If 1up's story is true, this would be a refreshing change of pace from Sega's usual inept decision-making.

agreed. & i think, at $30, it would sell, & help sell y3...

i will say that i can't help but think that, if it ever does get here, y3 will be receiving some pretty harsh reviews, premised mostly on one particular aspect of the game: kiryu's involvement with the kids at the orphanage is pretty extensive (particularly in the first few hours), &, while i found a lot of it funny, & just sorta went with it, i'm not so sure a number of western gamers'll be ready for such a heaping helping of 'sweetness'. i'll be very happy if i'm dead wrong...

no, i mean it actually IS news, unfortunately 'news at 11' has become ironic nowadays.

Damn fine news. Although I am only half way through the first one and have the second unopened on the shelf, I will be looking forward to this. Japanese voice with subtitles would be nice. Although I kind of liked the gratuitous english swearing in first for some odd reason.
Without saying this is one of the best gaming announcements in a while if it comes to fruition.

Go get it right away. Yakuza 2 is the best in the series. Y3 is still awesome, but it's not as good in a lot of ways.
I plan too...but I didn't want to get 2 and then never be able to play 3 if it doesn't come over.

Should play Y2 regardless. Don't deprive yourself of its radness.

I really hope Yakuza 3 here in the States is a reality, but this is Sega and all, so yeah. Wish Kenzan! would come over too, but I'll take whatever I can get.

I can hear the battle theme playing in my head right now.

There's a space beside Yakuza 1 and 2 on my shelf that's ready and waiting! Bring it!

Holy Fuck, Yes! Please god let this be true, I think I was the only person in Australia to purchase Yakuza 2 on release, I'd proudly do the same with 3.
This gives hope for Kenzan! doesn't it? I mean that has just as good a chance at sales than 3 does doesn't it? I'd argue that the Samurai aesthetic would push its sales further than 3.
Regardless, put me in with the camp that burns down 1UP if this is bullshit.

This is great news if true. I'm still playing through the first one, but I'm finding it to be a ton of fun. I'm glad to know I'll have this to look forward to once I beat it and the second game.

You're not alone. :)
That said, with the PS3 being region free it's probably better to contribute to US sales.

I really hope they aren't dubbing it. It would cost Sega or whoever is footing the bill more money to hire voice actors and should the game have mediocre sales, Sega will just use it to justify not releasing Yakuza 4. On top of that, this game is so culturally Japanese that English voices RUIN the game. They need to just add subtitles and release before year's end.
