I'm not entirely sure who attended, but Blizzard has a long history of giving "Friends and Family" first looks at everything. The first wave of Alpha\Beta testing they do is always known as the Friends and Family group, and with a lot of their products those are the people who get first sneak peeks at everything. They are essentially nobodies that are close to Blizzard employees.
