The first(?) review is up (in Swedish):
http://www.level7.nu/texter/read.php?id=145675

They give it 8 out of 10 and writes something like:
"You can tell that this is not a full price game, but as an uncomplicated online shooter it is really good. In it's best moments it is as much fun as Call of Duty 3 in multiplayer."

(sorry for bad english)

Any other reviews up yet?

looks good to me. ok i cant speak swedish but when you look at the other reviews i can understand this score^^

but only 5 in graphic?^^

Why are they comparing it to CoD3 multiplayer?

It may not be complicated but it is more sophisticated than most multiplayer titles, with the inclusion of both land and air combat.

I don't think this should be counted as a review.

The game, at least from the beta, is good shtuff. This review, though, is garbage.

They say it is as chaotic and fun as COD3. I guess they're not talking about the air battles. :)

btw, I'm swedish ;)

Pouring oil unto the fire!

My own shitty speed translation, so forgive bad language.

Warhawk is a very fun game as long as you do not have too high demands on physics, graphics and realism. Look at it as a uncomplicated multiplayer experience that more aims at fun showdowns then realism but do not think because of this you can not have nervshaking duels and tight clanmatches. Warhawk has the potential to become the door to online gaming on the PS3 that Resistance never quite became.

Edited for correction. Thank you kindly Pilgrim. /Johnwayne

Warhawk has the potential to become the door to online gaming that Resistance never quite became.
Resistance is well beyond critical mass for a online game. When there's always a match & ton of games with no fluctuation 24/7 it's well beyond a certain point.

They complain about the graphics?

I think its a very good looking game.. 32 players online, no slowdowns, very nice cloud and super impressive lightning effects.

Yes, his sentences are this long and convoluted...

You can obsess upon that the grahics are not that good, that the explosions and destruction is lacking, that there is a thin offering of vehicles or that there are too few animations and at times bad collisiondetecting.
But then you would miss alot that lies beneath the surface.

Warhawk is the the type of game that superficially does not have anything that is better then other games in the genre, but has created a working whole of parts that atleast measures up.

I love the graphics too, especially when you are in the warhawk.

The special effects are great looking too, have a really nice feel. I definitely wouldn't complain about Warhawk's graphics but anyway.

Trying to translate: (Im finnish, but my swedish skills are somewhat decent)
Pros:
+ It's simple
+ Up to 32 players at the same time
+ Nice online functions
+ Up to 4 players on splitscreen
+ Steady framerate (take that, LAIR!)

Cons:
- Ain't so pretty
- Physics should have been better
- Groundlevel combat should have been more fun

Graphics: 5
Works well, but lacks detail, animations and effects

Gameplay: 8
Having 32 players on screen at the same time makes Warhawk very chaotic and very fun

Value: 8
Its only multiplayer, so it all depends whether you like it or not. I (the reviewer) like it.

Total score: 8
Eventhough its fullprice game, its very well done and as a simple onlineshooter its great. At its best, its as fun and chaotic as COD3 is in multiplayer.

The graphics in Warhawk are really good. So clean, so huge, so smooth with great lighting effects, good expressive animation and so forth.
Probably the most impressive thing I've played on my PS3.

It will definitely be a million seller this year. Also, having it hanging and dripping at the PS Store will probably tempt quite a few folks beyond the launch week.

Well, they also say the animations doesn't seem right.

edit:
Just read what PetriP-TNT wrote.

Hmm.. I never had a problem with the animation. Looked pretty smooth to me, sure it was goofy but it fits the game very well.

The game actually has really good animations and has gotten praise for this in the past. They may probably disagree with the direction (it's very expressive and comical, think Blizzard) but the animations are quite good. The Warhawks themselves have a lot of moving parts be that flaps everywhere, machine cannon, landing wheels, jet engine..etc.

I wouldnt trust this review. The only Swedish game magazine worth reading is Superplay.

A 5 in graphics is just strange, did they play the game in SD? And the sentence about this not feeling like a fullpriced game is just stupid, it wasnt that long ago when they dropped the single player portion of the game.

:lol

And for the record, Level7 is a site – not a magazine. I haven't seen any magazine by them anyways.

They also added reflections to the cockpit between the beta and the review code

Also, take a look at the flags here

And these are just some of the improvements

Having not played it, I've noticed it looks great when you're in the Warhawk. But what about the ground combat? How are the textures/detail when you're on the ground?

Awesome, cant wait to start playing again. :D

2 player split screen actually worked well in this game. Me and my bro driving around a tank, me being a gunner = death on wheels.

Well, you could call it 'sparse' (see screenshots above) but that would be missing the big picture. If you look up and get a view of the whole level it's really something. 32 players going mad, explosions everywhere and the framerate never drops, it's really smooth. The game has 4x aa and whatever else and looks really clean. You can spend 15min walking across the (huge) maps or you can spend 10 seconds flying over it.

8 out of 10 seems to be a very good score for this site. I don't think anybody was expecting Warhawk to be the next Gears of War in reviews

This post just made me giddy. 15 minute walks, awesome.

ok I made a mistake I though it was the homepage for the level magazine.

And what other magazines are PCGamer, Level and Gamereactor. Gamereactor isnt Swedish, PCGamer is (last time I read it) basically the English version of the magazine with a few articles from the Swedish editors (But it was a few years since I read one so they might have changed this).

The problem with Level is that one month its great with good articles and the next its 10 pages on cell phone games or something like that and their reviews equally inconsistent.

Couple of Jobe quotes from the PS blog

The public BETA did have some frame rate problems, in part to us running all our character IK on the PPU rather than on the SPUs. This has been resolved. Additionally, the procedural electricity FX fro the lightning shell are now generated on the SPUS versus the PPU. Another big gain for us especially in 4-way split.

The game loads just as fast if you are using the PSN version or the Blu-ray version. With the PSN version, of course the content is all loaded to the HDD. What we did with the Blu-ray version is use the HDD as well, all the game content is cached to the HDD so load times are equal between the 2 products.

BTW: level loads are about 5 seconds.
