Watch Dogs - New Gameplay Footage

Life

It's funny 'cause it's true.

I agree; I'm not sure where the confusing is coming from.

You’ll see some gameplay in this article, but make certain you understand that it comes straight from Ubisoft and is therefor captured under the most ideal of circumstances. This is NOT what you’re going to see on the PlayStation 4 - instead it’s highest-end PC gameplay, or close to it.

They don't even stop at "high-end PC". It's the "highest-end" PC, apparently. And yet it has minor aliasing that is common on most console games. That's what started the confusion.

I'm getting tempted, but after getting bored of AC IV after 10 hours I don't know if the Ubisoft formula can keep me interested in this one.

This looks pretty fun but why is everyone the main character? That was a lame move.

These threads have been putting me off NeoGAF recently, so much crying and whining about graphics downgrades, I always saw NeoGAF as a safe haven from the usual gaming blog post comments section. I'm really not butthurt that the game doesn't look like some unrealistic trailer that came out two years ago, because I didn't hype myself up with stupidly high expectations two years ago.

That being said the robo spider trip sections looks like loads of fun, seems like there will be a wide variety of gameplay so i'll be grabbing this at launch.

Connected blablabla, the ones who just straight forward uploaded the unaltered broll footage, also say it's from the PS4 version. There's really nothing pointing to PC except for the one poster.

NOTE: videos here appear to have PS4 button prompts, but these could very well be in place using a DualShock 4 on a PC. It's been suggested by Sony's PlayStation blog that this is PlayStation 4 footage, but to the best of our ability to judge, it seems above the quality of gameplay we experienced earlier this month, and far closer to that PC gameplay we're aware of that's out in the wild here and now.

How in the hell does this make any sense at all? The DS4 doesn't have native support or drivers for PC, so why would Ubisoft waste a bunch of time developing a UI for the PC version that includes graphics for DS4 button prompts?

Looks okay, still cautious, wasn't expecting such an action focus though, ubi might surprise us, maybe not, will wait for opinions.

To avoid more downgrade controversies? It wouldn't be the first time.

Not say it is or isn't, just replying to that question in particular.

Anyway, I'm still skeptical on this game but hope it's good. I just don't want stale gameplay that bores me within a few hours.

Looks like lots of fun. Graphics are also pretty nice. Must say, though - disappointing lack of pedestrians and vehicles in many sections. The city looks kind of dead.

Sony probably has provided drivers for developers because this would not be the first time Ubisoft demoed something on PC using a Dual Shock(The Division).

Edit: Then again, we have conflicting reports here on this thread.

If they're still being weird about this game by using PC footage overlaid with PS4 prompts, that would be unbelievable. I'd like to think Ubi smartened up to all the noise online and wouldn't want any more confusion regarding stuff like that. I hope the simplest answer applies here, that being PS4 prompts = PS4 version.

- Other than that, the main mission number is disappointing. Sleeping Dogs had 30 and that game felt too short. The story missions better be substantial and well made with that number because even something like GTAV had 69 missions and still felt underwhelming.

- Gun sounds are not good. Why is RDR the only open world game to get this right?

- Still not a fan of the AR/trippy side mission gimmicks. In concept I thought it went against the tone way too much, and in practice it looks like something ripped right out of Saints Row. Reeks of them just throwing in any old content to pad playtime rather than creating tonally consistent side activities. To be fair, this is an issue I have with nearly every open world title. This won't be a big deal as long as the hacking based side content is fulfilling.

- Mechanics look snappier than GTA, thank God. Should be a better playing experience on foot. Driving looks a little stiff and vehicle damage isn't doing much for me, but I can forgive these as long as driving works well combined with hacking and police evasion.

- The world itself looks fine. I still say the lighting is a step back from GTAV, but pedestrian activity looks okay. Hard to get a real feel for this without playing it for a few hours to see how everything ebbs and flows.

- Multiplayer integrations looks good. Who knows how it will actually work with randoms and unstable connections though. Aside from straight up campaign co-op, open world multiplayer has been rather boring in most of these titles. We'll see.

All in all, I'm about where I was before these previews: Unsure. Still waiting for impressions from like 15-20 hour playtimes to see how this all comes together.

If that is indeed PS4 footage, i can finally say i'm happy with the way it looks. If it is PC footage masquerading as PS4 footage...then shame on ubisoft.

Still worried about the actual gameplay though in either case. Looks quite dull.

this actually looks pretty fun. visuals aren't anything special but the gameplay looks really fun. i might give this game a shot down the line.

Expectations tempered for now. I'm sure it'll be fun in a lot of parts, but so many Ubisoft titles are not great at story mission design that I can't get excited right off the bat. The multiplayer footage definitely looks interesting though. My two dumb nitpicks otherwise: I'm tired of shooter games having "heavy" or "juggernaut" type enemies, and I'm sick of skill trees.

I expected that everybody is going to talk about graphics again...

Gameplay looked really, really good. Can't wait to try everything out. Looks way more divers than GTA V.
It also looks very nice imo. If I compare the rainy night time parts to the reveal trailer I'd say there isn't any downgrade visible.
Some things have changed obviously, but I wouldn't call it downgraded.

Can't wait to play this game.

Yeah, on this note is there footage showing what it looks like for the player who wants to invade another game? Starting things up I mean? Do you just select an online mission and get a loading screen before being thrown into a random game?

I wonder how the last gen versions run. Cinematic 24fps framerate and clystar clear 600p resolution.

The only version I will be able to play for some time yet is the 360 version, so i'm very interested in this. Honestly, I suffered through 15fps on Borderlands 2, so as long as the game is feature-complete on 360 i'm happy no matter how hideous it is.

And Brad from GB completely disagrees. Who to believe? lol

well its the age old 'i can't tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps' question.

I'm pretty sure the extra nvidia fluff effects will make pc look better, but not drastically better, so framerate will be key, and not everyone is as sensitive to that.

Seriously. If Ubi is being knowingly misleading at this point it would be absolutely appalling and prove that they really cannot be trusted.

Glad I'm not the only one. Those weapon
sounds are embarrassingly weak.

Haha, funny to see Gamespot and other saying the difference is very very noticeable.
Weird.

We've reached a point where differences are there if you are sensitive to noticing them. Comments not backed by analysis end up sounding like "I see what I believe" and not the other way around. This is going to be a long and entertaining generation filled with conflicting reports and confirmation bias.

What is going on with this game? Why can't people judge the graphics?

What constitutes a large or small difference is different to each person. There are people (possibly trolls) who think Killzone: Shadow Fall looks like a PS3 game after all.
