Watchmen Trailer

this is like the most-hyped worst-looking movie ever made. I'll give it a chance and won't be closed-minded about it but I didn't like 300 at all and this looks worse to me. I like Zack Snyder, I thought his Dawn of the Dead remake was pretty good, but he just lost me after that.

Read the graphic novel then you will know why everyone is hyping it.

Pssh, Watchmen has a plot, so it can't possibly be worse than 300.

Nice trailer. Still super hyped for this.

For those bitching about the slow mo, what if the majority of the slow mo shots in the film were used in these trailers? It would seem like there's a shit ton of slow mo in the film, when it's all condensed down into a two minute trailer, but if that's all (or almost all) there is in the span of over two hours you'll barely notice it.

I don't like the way Rorschach's mask looks, nor do I like Dr. Manhattan's voice. No big deal, though, just me nitpicking.

EDIT: Hey, someone agrees with me about Dr. Manhattan. High five!

I just hope Snyder doesn't use slow-mo for "The Catch."

That is really it. And it is made by Zack Synder who usually does straight adaptations.

like I said, I like him, but I just don't share the same mindset about the film, just because the graphic novel is good. I hope its good, I want it to be good. I just thought the footage and overall vibe was pretty bad. but we'll see.

Yeah. I always thought his voice was more clinical, cold and heavier. Also, the way he speaks in my mind is with an air of indifference. The actor's voice is too soft and takes away from the entire God thing Manhattan has going.

consider the source material. 300 was a shitty action book made for the cinema, Watchmen actually has a plot and dialogues

I don't mind Rorschach's voice, but it'll need to grow on me. I've grown fond of Rorschach's voice in the animated comic.

I'm also a little bummed now that the rumored new ending has been confirmed to be in the final theatrical cut by both Snyder and this trailer.

P.S. Wait... I thought there wasn't a formal "Watchmen" group. Wasn't there just the "Crimebusters" and the "Minutemen"? Rorschach in the trailer referred to the remaining superheroes as his fellow "Watchmen", but doesn't seem right... Correct me if I'm wrong.

It could be just a trailer edit in order to avoid confusion over the initiated audience and confuse Watchmen fans.

I agree about Manhattan's voice, but I think they're pretty much nailing Rorschach (voice, look); him being my favorite character, I'm happy about this.

True, could be. I think Rorschach's whole "Save us" bit was cleaned up for the trailer.

That's what I'm loving too.

Not only is the new trailer awesome, but it's also awesome to see jett's meltdown over the slow-mo.

I honestly hope the entire movie is in slow-mo and he runs out of the theater crying.

However, I must agree with an earlier point: I really hope that they're not called "The Watchmen" in this film because it's actually pretty imperative to the theme of the story that they're NOT a group of heroes called the Watchmen.

What difference does it make?

Having a team of superheroes called the Watchmen would make it like a pseudo avengers which would be totally fucking lame. Also there is a lot of depth about the groups in the book and it's pretty crucial that there should be two separate failed groups distinct.

But having a team of superheroes called the Crimebusters is....not fucking lame?

Zack Snyder and JJ Abrams should have gotten together and done a crossover where the Enterprise and crew from the new movie is somehow used in the ending gambit of 'Watchmen' and Dr. Manhatten is featured in the Star Trek movie.

That way all of these incredibly hard to please and bitter Watchmen and Star Trek freaks can get together and bitch at the same time.

I totally just found out that the dude who does Snake's voice in the MGS series helped write the screenplay for this movie.

He wrote the original version of the script. Reason for them not using it was because he put it in a different timeline instead of 1985.

It is and it's supposed to be in the context of the story. A Watchmen team would not be.

Then I don't understand what your problem is. In the comic, the group is called the Crimebusters; in the movie (apparently), they're Watchmen. The only difference is the name. Either way, they are (or were) a team.

I enjoyed the trailer. I agree with some of you guys about Manhattan's voice, though. I always imagined it with kind of a godly, echo-y tone.

Sure seems that way. Should predominantly a superficial change, though.

Well, maybe not. The implication I got was that the group was at least a little more longlived than the Crimebusters were.

At about 1:00 in the video,
I'm guessing that's the execution of Ozy's plan? The one that's supposed to resemble Dr. Manhattan's energy signature?

That's I had thought too.
But I think it is better then the squid.

I liked the trailer, but was unfortunately reminded by the mushroom clouds that there will be a new ending, which absolutely pisses me off.
Only the blue explosion seen in NY is from the new ending. The mushroom cloud is from Nite Owl's nightmare.

anyone notice the burning superman in the riot scene?

I just finished the book. So good. Can't wait to see how the movie plays out. One question, Rorschach's line about "the world will look up and say 'save us'" where in the book is that? I don't remember reading it.

Also,
so it seems the new ending is set up so it looks like Dr. Manhattan caused the explosion? So Veidt is framing him by making it look like he caused the catastrophe? I wonder if that means the cancer subplot is out.
