We create "magazine ads" for the hell of it. Now: Two Out Rally

For those who haven't played Persona 4, I'd say give it a go anyway.

Put yourselves in the shoes of an art director at an agency tasked with creating the ad. Do some research--check out the Persona web site, read some wikipedia articles, watch some youtube vids, and peruse the official thread here on GAF. You might find it even more fun than creating an ad for an old favorite. It will certainly be more of a creative challenge.

thats true. But "designer" normaly get a briefing with some informations in it :D (@op hint hint)

Not always.

I'm bummed that I missed out on this round. I have a couple of ideas that I could have put together. I rarely venture over here, and post even less so. But I'll keep my eye on the thread, and maybe participate in a later round.

By the way, where are you guys finding all this artwork, logos and such? Are they official high-res images, or are you just grabbing them from wherever?
 
Awesome entries; I'm especially loving the ad with the NES controller buttons pasted over the Wiimote, the pixellated Eiffel Tower viral marketing ad, the jumping into the Boss room ad, the "classic" ad, and the stylish "Revival of Ambition" ad.

Anyone know of any good Photoshop/GIMP/etc tutorials? I want to participate.
 
45+ hours with Persona 4 and I don't want that to be our next project. If we are going with current games though, I guess I have no choice since its the only really good "retail" game.

Pixel Junk Eden/Pixel Junk Monsters?
 
Wow, this thread is awesome. I'd certainly like to get in on the action in the future as I'm currently learning photoshop and this seems like a great way to practice at it. (And- having just finished it- I second the Mother 3 nomination.)

I bought that game when it came out and am still playing it today. I would really like Pixel Junk Monsters because it just has much more source material to work from. Pixel Junk Eden would be harder because its visual art style is so reliant on the game itself.

How about no one can give their opinion on the next project unless they have participated in the previous week? (and or your opinion is Mirrors Edge).
 
i would prefer mirrors edge over persona 4 too :D

but it seems like the op really wants persona 4 (persona fanboy xD ?) so lets just grant him his wish for the awesome idea ?

I'm glad I got the tail end of Mega Man 9. I liked what I did, but given a whole week even 2 days, I could come up with something better on our next game.

I've never played Persona, but the game's use of color
yellow
and signature art-style could make for some cool looking advertisements.

The ideas come far too easily for Mirror's Edge, as they did for MM9--gotta tap into that right brain somehow.

Yeah me too, since everyone was talking about how clever it was I was trying to see more than what it really was... Very nice ad though!

I absolutely love the way the smoke blends in with the 9, I think you really made that seamless and a lot better. The trail may be a little too long, but the way it becomes the 9 is definitely superior to the first one. I do however prefer the no background + only arm of megaman style, though. It's great nonetheless, awesome work.
 
Persona 4's got a couple different themes you can latch onto for your ads. One is to use their color of choice (HUGE AMOUNTS OF YELLOW) in the ad. Another is to go with the "jump into TVs" thing (the protagonist and his friends go into TVs to rescue people). Another is to go the "there's been a crime" route since you're trying to catch a kidnapper (think police tape). There's also the fact that it mostly takes place in the real world and the character goes to school, hangs out with friends, works part-time, has to take exams, etc (and you get to choose what to do a lot of the time).

Hopefully that and a little bit of research will help.

Finally took the time to look through this thread.

A couple of these are actually pretty awesome and/or funny. Keep up the good work on the next one. :)

If you remember, I had posted my two in the OP, so the bar was set pretty low from post 1.
 
Although I don't think Blizzard needs any help in the marketing department, I think World of Warcraft has some great potential for ads.

EDIT: but to be honest, I think we should just let AniHawk decide on the games. It's his thread after all.

Edit: Argh, I accidentally posted my P4 effort waaaaay too soon.

I sincerely hope somebody is archiving all these fantastic MM9 efforts :)
