Just a thought, why not stick to older games that are not currently undergoing a marketing push? I think you might see some much more interesting stuff that way.

I think there will be a time for any kind of games, oldest ones included. Working with new vg is more easy because there are many hi res art available.

I just want to say this is, by far, one of if not the best threads I have ever viewed on a forum anywhere. No bitching, whining, longwinded rants, pointless debates, or trolling. Just one big collective of extremely talented people showcasing work that greatly eclipses all ‘professional’ gaming advertisement I have ever seen.

The amount of skill and creativity shown by all of you goes so far beyond mere fan-service and leisure art that your work more that deserves to be showcased in magazines, posters, and unlockable art content in the relative games.

Bravo. I cannot imagine a development studio anywhere that wouldn’t have it’s staff smiling giant smiles for a month after seeing the work here.

Wow, Thanks.

Agreed, and while not in a position to reward the group the way Platinum Games did, if the crew decided to do Vampire: Bloodlines, I'd make sure to spread the linkage to the rest of the erstwhile Troikanites.

Technically, I'd spread the links even if you did Arcanum or ToEE, but I didn't work on those, and I'm selfish :). Hell, I'll link any devs I know if you do any games they worked on, though I'm that's already happening with many of these.

I should probably go ahead and start mailing the non-Capcoms and Segas out there. I know Atlus and others frequent this place too. Hopefully they appreciate the work and don't think it's ultracreepy.

It's a daunting one for me, because it's my favorite game (possibly ever), and I don't want to muck it up. But I came up with an idea tonight that I should have time to tinker with tomorrow.

Express yourself #4 :D

I love your Express Yourself series but I think it needs more variety; it's now leaning towards the flamboyant side too much. As a series it should have a sampling of more types of designs and people.. :D

Great job

Many tnks! I don't have too many different kind of artwork and levels for LBP (I have objects, but I don't have levels or different sackboy(s)), so I need to put people+related objs into the same page. Maybe I can add 3 screenshots in every ad, in order to show connection between game and people dressed as moron. This serie can lacks in variety, but I still believe is very eye-catching, due to the power of colours. :)

Don't worry if you miss the "deadline." We'd love to see it.

I had a hard time coming up with anything for my favorite games too. I think it's because I didn't want the ads to come across too fanboyish or something.

Android18a: That is really, really a great idea. I can see a series of ads like that where you spoof various movies with the sackboy.

I really really love this thread but yeah I think that it does better when it isn't a current game.

How about Psychonauts next?

The first post will always have what's next right below the deadline for the current game.

Beyond Good & Evil is next.

A little old, but MadWorld's director has his favorite ad!

"And now for something completely different… Some users on a site (NeoGAF) got organized and made some MADWORLD posters. I was really surprised by how awesome the design sense was. The other thing that shocked me was just how many posters they made.

Everyone took time out of their day and tried their hardest to make a cool MADWORLD ad. It really shot our motivation through the roof and made the team and I want to make an even better game for everyone out there! Thank you all so much for making these!!
(The poster below is the one I thought was the best out of all the designs!)"

Platinum Games continue to deliver. You know you've got a developer who speaks to the public when the director blog posts his favourite fan-art.

Its a shame that LBP didn't attract more designs. I couldn't think of anything personally :(

Done two for Beyond Good and Evil though!

mik's got one coming, and once I get off my lazy ass, I've got one half-done to finish.

I last checked into this thread back when you guys were doing the MM9 ads, and I just caught up, and it's still awesome. There's a lot of creative people here doing a lot of great work, and I'm happy to see that it's getting recognized a bit. Now that I've got stuff calming down, I want to try and contribute some stuff. Never hurts to have some fun stuff to put into the portfolio.

Question, though: Where are you finding all this high-res artwork, screenshots and stuff? Google? Or the official sites?

On some official sites, there are fankits and such. Rez, LBP, and Braid all had them. For others, you might have to use google.

You see, a lot of marketing work is never put back into question, because there are no ways to see "what could have been".

Well now we can see what could have been.

Keep it up.

Remember: The official title uses an ampersand (&), not the word "and".

Quoting. If you don't use the ampersand, Michel Ancel will come to your house and kick your ass, and I'm going to help him.
