We should have just one spelling for there/their and your/you're

There're (there are) three different words. :)

You got me. That's something I'd have never picked up on without it being pointed out to me. The contraction of 'there is' makes it seem completely fine in my head but plainly it doesn't make sense. I love language for stuff like this.
 
I understand non-native speakers having issues with such things but for everyone else, it is really not that difficult. The distinctions are important.

Tbh I've only seen native speakers make that mistake.
Probably because non native speakers usually need to pay more attention while typing.
 
Nah, I think you're wrong.

Maybe it could help you to pronounce them slightly differently.

Your = yore (you+or)
You're = you'r (you+er)
 
Might as well give loose a double meaning while you're at it so half the internet is correct.

Your a looser ✓

Your pants are loose ✓

You're a loser ✓ if you want to be a grammar nazi
