Weekly Famitsu news - Ninokuni PS3 (Ghibli)

Gorgon said:
It's not a port, people. It's not like they'll just hit the compiler button and get a PS3 version. It's a different version. Some of the cut-scenes may be the same CGI used for the DS version (with better IQ of course), but most probably the gameworld will be 3D and not 2D, independently of what perspective they'll use on the PS3 version. I doubt they'll recreate all the cutscenes in-game, so those will remain CGI like in DS for the most part. At least this is what I think they'll do.
Uhhhh... I was under the impression the cut-scenes were hand-animated 2D, not cg. At least all the cutscenes and video I've seen has been 2D not cg. Other than the overal Ghibli aesthetic that's one of the biggest reasons everyone is so hyped about Ghibli's involvement.

You may be right. Anyway, the point still remains that I doubt they'll re-do them in-engine.

I really hope they invest in this heavily...it should have at least as big a budget as WKC....it definitely has the potential to have bigger sales

You guys realize that most of the screens in the Ninokuni "scan" are of the animated cut-scenes and not of the actual game, right? It's extremely easy to tell them apart, I don't get why you guys are getting them mixed up.

I dont know anything about FFXIII or the other game, but im happy to see people happy :3
pfff, Tekken XIII and GT XIII will be > KOF XIIII> FF XIII

Ninokuni news is cool, would love if Disney tried to bring it over, given their Ghibli relationship.

And Versus looks pretty amazing thus far, can't wait to see what combat will be like.

Maybe it's on early stage development, or they don't have plans for a worldwide release at all.

They're going to be having their own conference for it some time this week. It makes sense that they'd hold it back to show there.

What time is the Ninokuni Presser? I wonder if we'll get any juicy tidbits of info out of it? I'll try not to get my hopes up.

I'm not sure about the exact time but IGN said to check back tonight.

JESUS CHRIST I WAKE TO UNF UNF UNF TO THIS NEWS.

This game always looked interesting to me on the DS. Now I can experience it on the PS3. DAY 1 and I don't even play rpgs anymore. :lol

Why, i see nothing but good news here.

The game was never announced for the Wii and the DS version still exists, so you can buy it on a Nintendo platform.

I'm not a handheld guy, but I'm seriously thinking about jump in with 3DS, I don't think the console market will be any more interesting from now on.

Quick question, a little off-topic maybe, how is WKC on a technical level? From what I've seen, looks a little messy, but I haven't played it beyond an hour or so.

Hino posted the special artwork at his Twitter account yesterday. He wrote, "Tomorrow is the Ni no Kuni press conference. Sunday is the Inazuma Eleven Fan Appreciation Festival. It looks like it will be a busy week. I've changed my face visual to the Inazuma version."

The Ni no Kuni press conference he's referring to will be held at 13:00 local time today (6/24). I have no idea what will be shown, but I imagine the just-announced PS3 version of the game will get some time.

As for the Inazuma Eleven event, this is being held at the Tokyo International Forum on Sunday (6/27) in commemoration of Inazuma Eleven 3's July 1 release.

The event site doesn't promise any new Inazuma Eleven series news. It does, however, promise the latest info on PSP's long-awaited Danbol Senki.

A few details have surfaced, not sure how legit:

-The game will support PS Move.

-The 2 versions will have different storylines.

Sorry if old.

I'm not convinced the Move thing isn't just internet chinese whispers, but if it's actually true then I'm impressed by the range of software Sony is getting Move support into. I was thinking it wouldn't get past the casual party game shovelware.

Pretty much a given that Move will be supported, it's a huge reason why everyone assumed the console version would be on the Wii due to the way the spellbook works.

Should be awesome either way. Can't wait for the both of them.

Am I the only one secretly hoping that the PS3 version will have pre-rendered backgrounds?
Part of me thought it'd be cool, but seeing the scans, fuck that, 3D real time environments that look that good? Too awesome.

I'd love to see it, simply because it might mean that Ghibli would be providing the backgrounds personally. However I think Level 5 are good enough to portray a designated style properly (see Toriyama - Dragon Quest).

Game looks glorious in the scans.

Though I don't know if I'll hold out hope for it to be localised...

Sony needs all the help they can get to promote Move. You can bet it will.

Huh, it's already confirmed to support SOCOM 4, Heavy Rain, Dead Space Extraction, PAIN, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR, Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition, Time Crisis: Razing Storm, NBA 2K11, R.U.S.E., Tron Evolution and Killzone 3, so I don't know where you got that idea from.

If I remember previous interviews correctly, Ghibli is working mainly on the animation.

This is true, Sony is pitching move to appeal to both the casuals as well as the hardcore. A Studio Ghibli title would bring plenty of core gamers in the West to PSmove, regardless of if it's optional or not.

In the west? Why would people care? I don't think Ghibli's movies, or Level-5's console games are very popular. In Japan I could see it selling moves, but outside of that, if it's optional, I really don't see it.

From before those games were confirmed with Move support.

Yeah they aren't massive in general in the West. But weaboos love studio Ghibli as much as they love Final Fantasy (it's some of the most mainstream anime in the West thanks to Disney), so there is a solid niche for them here. It's likelier to sell in the West than some of the obscure stuff Atlus or NIS bring over. Having the option for Move is just going to show how much better it is than DS3 for this type of game. But you're right, I expect it to get the bulk of its sales in JPN. But I think it will have more appeal in the West than Persona or Disgaea thanks to the Studio Ghibli movies already being established here.

Oh, I believe I misread your post, I thought you meant it'd sell Moves, not copies of the game. I do think the game will do well in the West, 500k maybe, I consider that good for the genre anyway. I don't think it's going to push the move though, even if the game is better with it.

I wonder how the PS3 and DS games will relate to each other...will they both have the same basic story and gameplay, or be completely different?
