Weekly Famitsu news - Ninokuni PS3 (Ghibli)

duckroll said:
Tomorrow's press conference is ONLY for Ninokuni. It is not the Level 5 Vision event.
Oh, I thought it was the Inazuma Eleven one too promised to have Danbol Senki news as well. But if it is about Ninokuni only...it must be a release date plus direct-feed pics and videos hopefully!

Woah, fantastic news.

I wonder if they'll use move as a 'touchless' stylus. It's something Sony didn't necessarily communicate very well outside of "we can draw with it!", but it would fit the bill nicely with this kind of stuff.

Considering the popularity of Level 5('s games) and Ghibli in Japan, would it be safe to presume that Move wouldn't be a barrier to the game's sales?

there's ANOTHER nomura game surprise in TGS?
so great to see him as prolific as ever

when does SE give him his own production company?

Ninokuni PS3 looks amazing. I wonder how they are going to market the game, though. I always thought the DS version alone could pretty much maximize the sales potential of Ninokuni and any other released version would basically only reach people that would otherwise just buy the DS game.

Oh I can't imagine they'd make it move only anyway. I'm just curious if it'd have move support, it seems like it could pretty much apply directly to it.

I can totally see Level 5 making it a Move-only game.

Fair enough.

Also, I wonder if this is indicative of a soured relationship between Level 5 and Nintendo, or if just a push by Ghibli to move towards the PS3.

So given that you think that it could be a Move-only game, would this push Move sales or dampen Ninokuni sales?

Damn it, saw the screens, had to look twice to see the ingame ones, looks stunning.

Now give it a release date, for this year, for Europe, on their conference this week and damn I will never complain about anything anymore :lol

Are we sure there are any ingame ones? Can't see anything indicating what is or isnt

I don't think it's indicative of either. Level 5 publishes their own games, they make decisions based on how they feel showcases a particular title best in terms of appeal and demographic.

It's impossible to tell without knowing more details (their marketing strategy, the pricing, possibility of bundle with Move, release window, etc).

Some of them definitely look like PS3 realtime renders, most likely in game. In cel-shaded games what matter the most is animation though, but I suppose there isn't much to worry in that field.

Not trying to troll, genuinely curious, but why is a DS port to PS3 a big deal?

STUDIO GHIBLI FOR FOOOOOKKKSSSSS SAKE!!! BEST NEWS EVAAAAAA!

I'm pretty sure this game will pop-up on the Wii too.

I doubt it.

Thinking about it, the move to PS3 makes a lot more sense than I had previously thought.

Anyone who owns a Wii is probably going to own a DS, and if they're shipping the game with that spellbook it's going to have to command an above-average retail price anyway, so bundling it with a Move controller and upping the price a little more shouldn't do too much damage. The animation is also more suited to the PS3, as well.

As long as it comes to the DS and as long as it brought here. This news doesn't do anything for me.

Please com here to EU land Another World. Please.

By the way, is this the first DS<->PS3 game?

I know there were PS3<->360, Wii<->PS3, 360<->Wii, PSP<->DS, etc. games

I don't see why people think this should be considered a port. Almost certainly not. For all we know, the PS3 version has been in the works just as long as the DS version no?

Sorry, what i meant was PS3 and DS. :P

So there's a conference for this game tomorrow?

Hopefully that results in screens, a trailer and... ugh, maybe even a release date.

*kisses his PS3*

Maybe. But since I don't own a Wii I really don't care. :lol

It's funny, just a few days ago I was bitching on some thread that Level-5 had it's by far most interesting projects on handhelds (Ninokuni, the now cancelled Ushiro, etc) and that the HD consoles only got crap (WKC). And now this. Man, I'm happy. This and Last Guardian, oh boy.

I don't think Ushiro was cancelled.

Hey Kagari !!!

KOF XIII > FF XIII
My XIII is better than yours!! >8(

I dont know anything about FFXIII or the other game, but im happy to see people happy :3

On the topic of Level 5. What happened to the EU release of Inazuma Eleven, that i was under the impression was basically confirmed from reading gaf threads. I thought they were releasing it in time for the WC.

Ninokuni PS3 looks stunning, look forward to seeing more of it.

Versus XIII > KOF XIII > FFXIII

Just saw the Ninokuni PS3 scan.

Cell shading is awesome as always with this devs, in the scan is hard to know what screen is anime and what is cell-shading.

Since the DS touchscreen "gestures" (see 1:46 in this trailer) to perform special actions (and I supouse point and click mechanics), I also see potential for Move support.

Love Ghibli. Looking forward even it's a RPG (I don't like FF or DQ games).

:o

If this increases our chances to get a localised version, I'm all for it.

It's probably been cancelled. It was removed from Level 5's site, and it was announced 2 years ago with little information and no updates since.

Port from the worst graphics to the best? Sounds strange...

It's not a port, people. It's not like they'll just hit the compiler button and get a PS3 version. It's a different version. Some of the cut-scenes may be the same CGI used for the DS version (with better IQ of course), but most probably the gameworld will be 3D and not 2D, independently of what perspective they'll use on the PS3 version. I doubt they'll recreate all the cutscenes in-game, so those will remain CGI like in DS for the most part. At least this is what I think they'll do.
