Welcome! PS Vita Game Paradise - Stream Thread [Wut Stream]

The machine is 3 months old, a few weeks out in Europe and US. There's no need for any panic measures at all just yet.

And this is a tremedous problem for any hardware maker these days. if your hardware doesn't explode out of the gate and have a constant stream of AAA announcements, today's gamer writes the system off as doomed. That negative mindshare is hard to overcome.

Especially when you're up against the top handheld maker ever. Never mind the fact that 3DS was a paper weight for the first nine months, it walks on water now. How come Vita ain't?

Was it? Can you direct me to where Sony specifically stated that? Or have you just made it up because that's what you think they were doing?

So it's come to this now... oh wow..... Ok outside of basic common sense, Sony didn't need to say it, it was the only logical implication.

Japanese PS2 was god awful and we were starved of games for an age. We celebrated Onimusha ffs :/

Onimusha is still one of the best games of the PS2 library.

Maybe this is stating the obvious, but why do people reply to Vita trolls posted by people with Nintendo avatars/usernames? Is it constructive discussion?

PS2 would like a word with you.

Uhh correct me if i'm wrong, but I seem to recall the Ps2 struggling until the release of FFX? It might have been another game, but it's always been the same thing.

The playstation 1 took off around the time the FFVII was released, the PS2 around FFX, the PSP with Monster Hunter, and the PS3 was probably Metal Gear Solid 4. Sonys hardward always has a slow burn then they find some game that hits all the right notes for people and turn out fine again.

I'm just saying I think it's too early to spell doom, and gloom, especially when Nintendo released the 3ds most had similar "outlooks" on it's future based on many of the same things. Including a lack of quality software.

Really, people should stop thinking E3 will be the place where Sony announce all these mythical Japanese Vita games that will save the handheld in Japan. The Vita highlights at E3 will likely be CoD Vita, Bioshock Vita, Assassin's Creed Vita, and some new 1st party games. Anyone expecting a new MH, a new Persona, or anything like that to be at E3 is setting themselves up for disappointment.

Except more and more Japanese developers, and publishers are announcing games at western trade shows now. It's been commented on numerous times by folks from the press, here, and elsewhere that TGS has lost a great deal of significance, and most developers are chooseing to use shows in the west like E3 to show off their new stuff.

I don't see it being that far fetched to think that Japanese developers could show new Vita stuff at E3, especially with the Wii-U, and possible PS4 news made this year I except a large amount of Japanese press will be present.

They might as well not bothered if this is all they could come up with.

It's sad, but this is all they have. I think a lot of Japanese devs are still on the fence. Seeing the lacklustre sales they are not sure to support it or not, for the time being that is.

Is this thread even worth having opened given no one's actually discussing the announcements that did take place, but rather the ones that didn't?

Yeah because everyone with a Nintendo avatar is destined to troll Vita just because it's not a Nintendo platform.

What was this presentation *for*, if not to try to energise Vita sales?

I think this presentation is about to have some regular cool internet show to show things. It's not a one time big savior show like people wanted to believe, it's meant to be a regular thing i guess.

I'm not saying Vita isn't in big shit right now, sure, but what i mean is that i don't think Sony is in panic mode right now. It's not like they will suddenly make an AAA title appear out of nowhere. It's really probable that major games on the platform are really early in their dev and won't be announced right now. Don't you think Square is developing a logical Dissidia 3 ?

Well, if they aren't, situation may be bad indeed^^

Im not following - what your point ? Or are you suggesting that those Vita versions will outsell their Ps3 counterparts ?
At the current year Vita will need 2-3 years or even more to have a comparable userbase and software sales on Ps3 title have been very solid - J-Publishers are betting on Ps3, while Vita can be lucky to get as port of some HD projects.

My point is that these games will make some Japanese buy Vita since Japan likes portable gaming more than console gaming. These games will sell more on the Vita.

indeed - the Vita threads are going round and round in circles over and over again and with the same people on both sides with the same arguments.

No they won't outsell their ps3 versions - the userbase difference is way to big.

To feel the warm thrill of confusion, that space-cadet glow?

I've got some bad news for them, sunshine.

Vita's not well, it stayed back at the hotel.

These movies - not long - are our surrogate plan.

We're going to find out where you fans really stand.

Are there any 3DS fans in the theater tonight?

Get them up against the wall [AGAINST. THE. WALLLLL.]

Of what we *know* of Vita's release calendar, it's looking pretty bleak until Persona 4: The Golden. Which, wonderful though it *is*, isn't a massive title, and it's released in June.

7 months after launch, the most notable new release is a remake.

There needs to be games on Vita's release calendar in Japan that we do not know of right now. And there may well be, to be fair. But, well, we're going to have to find out about them *sometime* before they come out, and TGS is at an inconvenient time for that. They need *some* sort of announcement venue.

It's really probable that major games on the platform are really early in their dev and won't be announced right now.

PSO2, due 2013.

Niemoller covered this in his lesser know poem....

First they came for the anime fans ,
but i'm not an anime fan
so i did nothing

They came for Kotaku
and i think i'm right in saying
that i applauded

They came for the 3DS fans,
but i'm not a 3DS fan,
so i did nothing

Sometimes it's best to
Turn a blind eye

speak for yourself, i've got a backlog mountain of Vita games and the quality looks darned good. Plus Dragons Crown in there between now and Persona at the very least.

Is that it? It's over? I was hoping to wake up to a flood of awesome new game announcements. Oh well, there's always E3. Maybe i was being a bit too greedy. Vita did have one of the most solid release lineups ever and I already have enough games to keep me busy for a long time.

Even if Nintendo Direct is not the great thing many people want it to be, what a difference there is between the two... I mean, the freaking company president comes to show all the stuff.

How the hell is the Vita going to get saved? Sony had at least half a year to learn from Nintendo's mistake. Even if games can't be rushed just like that, they should've spaced the launch lineup in a better way, maybe start making downloadable titles... well this is probably not the place to talk about this.

On Topic: Sony trolled :D

That's a weird account suicide. :p (ah edited..at least :p)

I'm still on the same as..well with every hardware. Even if it fails, that won't stop my enjoyment and at least will have a few games that I like. Dreamcast, GameCube..heck, even the Sega Saturn to me (while I never got one..too poor) was a most just because of Nights, Panzer Dragoon and Burning Rangers.

Vita right now has versions of Uncharted, Wipeout, ModNation, a port of Mortal Kombat coming soon...and whatever the heck they throw between this months..and 2014; or something. :p

Are you actually arguing that a promotional video was *not* intended to boost sales?

I'm suggesting that this whole event was to reveal the odd game or two, show some extra footage and confirm a couple of release dates and other standard information.

What im not doing is throwing my toys out of the pram because I wanted or expected Sony to do things they didn't. They never said this event was their last attempt to "save" Japan. They never pinned the whole success of the Vita on this event. If people think this should have been that, that's their problem.

Of course Sony want to boost sales, but the idea that every egg Sony currently posess had to be placed into this particular basket for them to succeed is so stupid.

There are numerous posts in this thread that amount to nothing more than people being dissapointed because Sony didn't reveal what they wanted. Boo hoo, whaa whaa.

The kinds of games people are thinking must be announced at E3 to save the Vita have little to no presence in the West. Why waste valuable presser time on MH and Persona that will sell like shit in the west? Will there be Japanese game at E3? Sure. But it likely won't be the kind that people think Vita needs to save itself in Japan.

Um, in reality Japan is the #1 place to sell handhelds that's where they sell so announcing things for the west shouldn't be 1st priority. So MH and Persona do help.
