Were there 2 monsters in Cloverfield?

I remember hearing a rumor that Cloverfield was going to be a realistic Rampage movie. That would be nuts

I wish they did a sequel. Heard a other rumor after it was out that the sequel would take place at the same time, but from a different point of view/from a news team

I'm pretty sure the team wants to work on a sequel, but they want to think about a way they could do it properly and not half ass it.

Biollante is probably the biggest 'to scale' kaiju. That's of any note, I mean. I'm sure some Kamen Rider had some planet sized robot like Decade.

There was always something that bugged me with that Cloverfield monster at the very end
when the dude gets eaten
and that if the monster was really that big, then it would probably take a massive chunk of the ground to pick him up, but when the camera is looking up at him and it bites down, it barely looks like it's mouth is bigger than a human.

Just looks really off.

I get the same feeling when I see the Pacific Rim trailers, that the guys move faster than the robots when they are controlling it. Yet the movements are supposed to be the same.

The idea that the monster survived the air strike struck me as extreme bullshit. So I'm all in favor of the bullshit-yet-less-bullshit idea that the monster died and another with slightly different teeth showed up.

My favourite part of Cloverfield is that woman who blows up.

That was a good film to see at the cinema, but I have zero desire to watch it again.

I never understood why people found it a good movie... me and my sister wanted to watch it after all of the positive things we heard, but what we got was a terrible movie. The plot just felt forced an unrealistic. A group of people that just met risking their life to get to the ex-girlfriend of someone... dying in the process. The ex-girlfriend still being in her building, alive and well was stupid too. A ton more things that just didn't make sense happened, mostly unrealistic behaviour of characters.

Holy shit I remember watching it with friend and then, after the movie ended, I said that there is some meta(correct word?) on the net.
You know, like adverts, MySpace accounts of the people in the movie and other crazy shit.
It was awesome to search through it all.

We also called the stuff that makes you poof* HAPPY JUICE.
It makes people so happy they'll are like baloons.

And there was only one moster. I hope.

Yeah there are like multiple websites explaining different shits about chemicals like that Japanese drink or something. It was awesome researching things about the movie.

I really wish there was a sequel. (I remember the rumor for the sequel is going to be another person's POV, there was a time that the camera pointed to another person who's also fiming)

I usually dislike monster movies and I enjoyed Cloverfield thoroughly. I'm honestly baffled by how much hate it gets, specially considering that most gaffers were pretty positive when it came out.

the way the monsters size would change in each scene really stood out to me even the first time I saw the film. I don't understand how you can fuck up scale that bad.

Cloverfield was an awesome movie. But for whatever reason people decided to nitpick the movie to justify not liking it.

"The monsters teeth are different!"
Yes, and if I had watched the movie a dozen times I never would have picked up on that because I was enjoying the movie, not searching for reasons to hate it.

I'm not going to say it was a bad movie (I do think it was a massively wasted opportunity with the very cool background built up in the ARG) but posts like these seem to be saying that thinking critically about films is a bad thing.

One of the worst movies I've seen in theaters, along with Super 8. JJ Abrahams is one of the worst director currently in activity.

The main character, his brother, his brother's girlfriend, his best friend, and the ex-GF's friend. All of them a close circle of friends with said ex-GF. Hardly people who "just met".

Gipsy would just knee him in the head.

This is wrong. What kind of beta T Rex is 10 ft tall?

Did we watch the same movie?

I've always thought so.

There has to be, otherwise the ending makes no sense,

When the three protagonists are in the park you can clearly still fire being directed at a target far off in the distance, yet HUD is killed by something that snuck up on them.

The gunfire would have had to slowly track toward the park, or else the army was firing at nothing.

A second monster is the only explanation.

Abbrams didn't direct Cloverfield.

You get out of here, this is no place for silly things like facts.

Weren't they also fighting an army of baby monsters all throughout the city? As I understood it, they just start carpet bombing the city at the end to try to kill everything.

Meh, I really enjoyed Cloverfield, more so than the US godzilla and the other ones ( haven't watched many, granted)
I think it is the same one.

The design of it I think looks pretty awesome but I remember hearing the main complaint was it didn't look like an aquatic monster, which it is.

Yeah, I was so sure this was going to be a stealth reboot for Godzilla. Pretty bummed when it wasnt

I remember the speculation that it was going to be a Cthulu movie. Just straight up Lovecraftian batshit insanity going on. I was pretty excited about that.

Still kinda liked Cloverfield, but it's a movie you kind of only have to see once.

And what is up with all the recent Western giant monster movies having do long sequences where the heroes are being hunted by smaller creatures that come from the bigger monster? I came to see something HUGE.

I didn't even watch Cloverfield in the theaters and I thought it was really well done. It was more style than anything else. I could tell though it would have had even more impact in theaters though, so after I watched it I was kind of bummed that I didn't go.

Probably because it's hard to get your cast too directly involved with a building sized creature and survive. With something smaller, they at least have a chance to fight it off. I'm thinking it would be a bit silly to see a man hit Cloverfield monster with a broom handle or something.
