Not the movie or the NES game, the super old Mario Bros. game that was released in arcades. You could play a sort of deluxe version of it in Mario Advance, and a version of it was available in Mario 3D World, IIRC.

its a really fun arcade game, overall. Not too difficult and not that addicting but quite enjoyable. Its strange to think that the POW block was the first Mario block.

I grew up with video games in the 1970s and into the early 1980s. After I hit puberty, I very quickly lost all interest. Mario Bros is literally the last arcade game I remember really enjoying before I moved on.

I have these key memories that I associate with me consciously realizing I wasn't a little kid any more. One of them is going to see Return of the Jedi with my best friend on opening day, and walking out of the theater and thinking, "Quite a bit of that movie actually kinda sucked." Another is he and I going to this liquor store near his house and playing Mario Bros co-op, and me thinking, "Y'know, I'd really rather be back at the house listening to Oingo Boingo and Missing Persons records and raiding his older brother's porn collection."

I didn't play any video games for about seven years and then I got back into them after I finished college. I doubt it was a coincidence that the game that pulled me back in was Super Mario World.

the one in SMB 3 in mario allstars is a lot of fun.
Found a glitch with this one, you stay in your i-frames if you get hit and never move.

That being said, I agree. Had the most fun with this as an easter egg in Mario 3.

It's a fun little arcade title. I always assumed the game took place in Brooklyn. Which I guess now it's a safe bet that it's New Donk City. Would like to see a new Mario game not taking place in the mushroom kingdom and not being connected with Bowser and Peach.

I enjoyed Atari's 1984 C64 port. It was also ported by Ocean in 1987.
A forgotten tidbit when it came to the C64, a couple of games had different US/EU versions. Bionic Commando, Ikari Warriors & Street Fighter among them. Just like console hardware having different names or design in other territories, this was normal before the world internationalized in the 90's.

Literally the only Mario title that is before my time. I spent the most time playing it as the after-thought added to GBA games. Yes back on real hardware before the screens were backlit. Used the link cable to do battle mode and got some fun out of it. Mario Clash on Virtual Boy borrowed heavily from it as well. Two games I don't think I'll ever go back to...

My childhood dentist had this in his waiting area with free credits set. It was cool until I had to get a tooth pulled one time and I freaked the F out…now this game is traumatic for me lol

Thought it was alright, played it at a few arcades growing up. The Pizza Hut my family would go to had one of those NES arcade cabinets that had it, so I played it quite a bit there. Definitely loved Super Mario Bros. a lot more.
