What controller are you using on PC?

I have recently gone back to my PC after not turning it on in a year. I have done various updates and updated to windows 10 from 8.1. I use the Xbox one controller and it's not staying connected anymore. It will work but than when PC is turned off I'll have to go to device manager and update drivers again. I never had this problem before. Would I just be better off with another controller. Maybe the steam controller is more stable. What do you guys use?

Maybe I'm gonna give this a try and see if it stays connected. By any chance did they make use of the touchpad to play games that need a kB/mouse or steam controller configuration.
I know you can use the touchpad through steam controller configuration tool.
It's not a very good trackpad though..so I wouldn't bother, better setting up the gyro to help with aiming.

XB1 controller. I've tried the DS4 but it keeps disconnecting. Think I have to get a better bluetooth dongle.

Steam Controller is good but I don't think it's a good replacement for traditional controllers, but rather a semi-replacement for m/kb.

I switch between xbox One and Dual Shock 4, I favour the Dual Shock most of the time, Destiny 2 being my most played game over the last 5 years so I got used to it

Other games I tend to use the Xbox one controller as it's more supported

One S controller, best PC gaming pad I've ever tried

I was using wired 360 controller for years but something happened to the cord so I went DS4 (with BT dongle) for months. Now I'm using XB1 controller on wire. It's mostly the best PC controller around BUT I'm not a big fan of build quality (sometimes it cracks) and d-pad is average compred to DS4 (still miles better than 360).

I swap between the Switch Pro controller and Duelshock 4, need that gyro function 😎.
The steam controller compatibility is good but I just couldn't get used to the track pads for camera or aim controls.
It's not bad for simpler games, point click or things that don't rely heavily on precision aiming.

Can anyone recommend a good Bluetooth adapter so I can use my DS4 wirelessly on PC? 8bitdo do one. I want something higher quality than a cheap Chinese thing that's going to die within 2 months.

I go back and forth between the Steam Controller and the Wii U Pro w/ MayFlash adapter. I was using a DS4 wired (with DS4Windows) until my USB cable died.

I need to do some modding to reduce the clickiness of the SC buttons as they're the major drawback. ExistentialEgg has had some great results with his.

DualShock 4 and Xbox One Controllers.
Sadly after a week or so with the Xbox One controller my finger starts hurting while playing (shoulder buttons/triggers to angular I guess)
Was/is never an issue on DS4 or Xbox360 controller.

Yes. I have to go to device manager and update driver everytime PC is turned on.
Hmm. That's very strange.

I have the dongle plugged into a rear USB port on my PC and I put the cable in from time to time to update the firmware via the controller app from the store and obviously to charge it but it works flawlessly.

Speedlink torid. It's wireless and it has an internal chargeable battery. It's recognized by windows as an xbox controller automatically.

I've gone back to a wired 360 official controller. Although I had a good Dark Souls 3 run with a PowerA Fus1on for 360 recently. I was using a PDP Xbox One controller for a little while. The thing felt great in the hand and really works for retro gaming, but during that DS3 run I just felt too many dead spaces on the left analog.

An Elite controller or something with paddles. If you're serious about using a controller against people with keyboard & mouse than you don't have a choice. Its worth the money just take care of it.

Either Xbawks 360 controller (wired) or the Dualshawk 4. When I use a controller that is. 99.98% of the time I game with the mouse and keyboard. :messenger_ok:

360 wired
Switch pro controller (BT)
Xbox one s (BT)

I use a wireless Xbone One S, unless it's a game that doesn't have controller support and then I'll try the Steam controller. I only really use KB/M for specific genres or when the steam controller just doesn't quite click

The entire purpose of the PC experience is using KB/M.

No, the entire purpose of the PC experience is customizability. If i had to generalize and sum it with one single word, that would be it.

I use the keyboard & mouse with roughly 85% of the video games i play (of which are first person shooters, role playing games and strategy games). But in other cases like console emulation and such i'll use my Logitech F310.

The steam controller must not be good. Not one has said they use it here as a primary controller.
