What game did you have most fun with in 2008?

Rock Band 1 & 2 easily. Easily.

MGS4 is probably my penultimate choice. Crysis Warhead and STALKER are up there too.

I picked up STALKER because of Clear Sky hype. Still haven't gotten Clear Sky yet though.

I'm starting Fallout 3 tomorrow so I can't comment on that yet (I expect it to be goty), but as of now:

-Fable 2. The music, atmosphere, quests, attention to detail. Everything is incredible and no matter what you're doing, you're having the time of your life.

-Dragon Quest IV. If this had a diffrent number after the title it would probably still make the list. Almost every DQ has an irresistabe charm that's impossble to hate. It has the right balance in just about everything too.

-Infinite Undiscovery (I know the game has its fair share of flaws, but I had a blast with it)

-Mega Man 9. I hope they continue with MM in 8-bit. It just works too well to leave it at one game.

NHL 09
MLB 08 The Show
MGS 4
Call of Duty 4
Devil May Cry 4
Dead Space
Uncharted
PJ Monsters

Out of all those, NHL 09, by far. The game has ruled my life. Awesome.

Whats with all these retarded 2008 threads, theres still 2 whole months left and a lot of fucking awesome games still coming out, people trying to jump the shark to get in before 2009 or what, people really that desperate?

I agree. A bit too early. There are some good games coming this winter.

The World Ends With 2008.

I'm not asking what your favorite game was this year..ofcourse there are more games coming out but hey, I'm just curious :).

Also it doesn't matter if the game came out this year or not, I'm having what game did you have the most fun with so far in 08. Maybe I should have stated more clearly in the OP.

Does it have to be a game released in 2008?

I still had more fun with Halo 3 multiplayer than anything else. Probably #2 on my list was a second playthrough of Bioshock, and NHL09 and MLB08: The Show (PS3) aren't far behind. I also really enjoyed Mass Effect. Strangely, MGS4 -- the reason I bought a PS3 -- probably wouldn't even crack the top 10.

Naturally, this could all change when Resistance 2, Gears 2, Fallout 3, Fable 2, and Little Big Planet see some action.

I got the Orange Box for Christmas last year, but I tore through everything on it in January... wow, what a ride.

HL2 & Ep 1 & 2: Epic... I never played them before. Helped make FPS games enjoyable (all it took was an engrossing story... who knew).

Portal: Portal made me feel intelligent for beating it. Granted, I did well in school and knew I had an edge, but the point is that the reward was the next level. When the solution finally dawned on you, you felt accomplished. More games need to unlock this innate desire in all of mankind. Speaking of...

Braid: See above... you have to think. It's one of those games I'm proud to have never consulted online guides to finish ('cept for those god damned stars).

Dead Space: FINELY crafted story with a level of polish seldom seen in AAA titles. The reviews below 10 were all fucking retarded, unless their complaint was a lack of multiplayer. I started my second run through before I even broke the seal of Fable 2, which I'd had for a week when I finished run # 1. People who weren't scared by this aren't scared by anything, or they're lying. Protip: Scared doesn't mean being kept awake at night after turning the game off and lamenting the dark. It means jumping when they want you to jump.

Honorable mention: Banjo demo: Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

DQ4, great mix of the past for me since have not played it since the nes in 8th grade. Plus it felt new at same time.

Oh and Lunar 3: The Gardens of Ghaleon

So far Dead Space. It truely is a masterpiece. Think that only Fallout 3 will be able to beat it this year.

Biggest disapointment: MGS4. MGS1 is in my opinion one of the best games ever made, but Part 4 is just the definition of shit. Really can't understand what so much people love about this game. It just fails in every single way.

Little Big Planet - at first I was up off because Sony was backing this game so much but after the beta I was hooked. Sackboy is so endearing and the level design are amazing. LBP got me back into platformers and better yet makes me want to make my own levels.

Metal Gear Solid 4 was everything I wanted and more. Kojima still loves his long winded stories and well so do I so I enjoyed this game to the fullest. I wish I can say the same about MGS online.

Burnout Paradise - Criterion puts other developers to shame especially Namco with DLC. Criterion was the first to make getting online so seamless in the game, no lobbies, no waiting, no freaking loading to online screen, I love it.

Uncharted (rawr) I freaking loved this game when I played the demo and downloaded the movies from Blim's website.

Wipeout HD -I loved the PSP versions of Wipeout but HD takes wipeout to a level never seen for this type of racer.

Bionic Commando

Mega Man 9, easy.

Fuck HD, fuck super complex graphical effects, fuck controllers with a dozen buttons and motion controls. All you need for a good time is 256x240 pixels, a d-pad, and two buttons (well, four if you count Start and Select).

Let's wait till 2008 is over before declaring the most fun game.

While I agree on principle. I'm pretty sure I can say with 100% accuracy what my 2008 game is.

Burnout Paradise

Easily COD4. I should mention that I never touched multiplayer either.

Apart from that, most of my fun has playing virtual console games. For some reason I'm starting to grow tired of videogames in general. It feels like a chore just turning the system on nowadays. That said, I'm excited about Fallout 3, so hopefully it will rejevenate my gaming.

That's a toughy I played and finished very very few games this year, in fact I only beat.. 4 games so far ?, ninja gaiden on DS and ninja gaiden 2 on xbox 360, no more heroes , MGS4.

Actually you know what the winner is? Geometry wars 2 for live arcade, the game is awesome enough that I played atleast 1 round of one of it's modes whenever I turn on my console. That's definetly the best thing I've played all year.
