What game did you have most fun with in 2008?

Lost Odyssey Best RPG this generation hands down. Doesn't do anything new as far as Japanese RPGs are concerned but the game's characters, setting, story (somewhat), and gameplay mechanics are all considerably polished. The game does suffer from a few engine problems and the load times are attrocious at times but it was still a great game in the end.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village Nice throwback to old school adventure games. The art and music is fantastic, the rate at which you came across puzzles took its toll towards the end of the game but I still enjoyed it immensely.

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia My first Castlevania since Symphony of the Night and I came away very impressed. Absolutely adored the old school difficulty.

MGS4

And very LTTP- God Hand. I've had this game sitting on the shelf for months and barely touched it. I didn't care much for it when I first tried it out, but kept it around anyway. I got bored and thought I'd give it another chance and am glad I did. It finally clicked with me and I had a blast with it.

Well so far:

Wii Sports
One of few Wii games that really nail the controls. Boxing, tennis, golf <3

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
While not perfect, it's just such a big package of nostalgia, the end of an era, beginning of new times, and just an awesome experience the first time through. Listening to 'Calling to the Night' blasting a helicopter down in South America, watching Raiden fight <3

SPORE Creature Creator Trial Edition
All I did was create two creature one night back whenever, and thought cute little game. Then a few days ago I found the pics and vids I had of them and I just smiled like a goof. It's fun to be creative.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
I'm still playing this one, got done with Case numero tres just now. A hilarious parody of the American court-room and the shows based upon it. The judge goes by the guilty until proven innocent mantra which is just the tip of this grand iceberg of hilarity. And the way they pretend it takes place in America <3 The localisation team should get huge props for the game as the dialogues shiiiine. Love love <3

OBJECTION!

New Super Mario Bros.
I got all the stars, what more is there to say.

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen
A blast so far. Cozy is the word for this. Great music, art, a charming world, a blazing-fast battle system and some funny dialogues. Chapter 3 is a bit too slow though, but it makes up for it by being hilarious. <3

Rhythm Tengoku Gold: Very few games make me grin like a moron...this was one of them.

Castlevania OoE: I wanted to hurl my DS at the wall so many times, and yet I kept playing it. It was just awesome.

Saint's Row 2. Been playing since the beginning with a friend on co-op. That has made it a blast.

We managed to steal a couple of the assault helicopters last night while on five stars. You normally don't get the assault copter till after you beat the storyline :D

For the moment :

Braid : awesome game design, atmosphere but also very interesting puzzles
Fable II : so many things to do !
Crackdown : yes, I played this in 2008. And it was awesome, achievements were greats.
GeoWars 2 : so much better than the first one, still playing this sometimes.
Castle Crashers : played it with a buddy offline because of the broken online. Still awesome even alone.
BFBC : the multiplayer is great, much better than COD4, great physics here.
FIFA 09 : nearly perfect.
Ninja Gaiden II : it has many flaws compared to the first one but it was still great.

Monster Hunter Portable 2G:
350 hours and still haven't gotten close to getting everything I wanted. I hope I can score a Wii for cheap when MH3 comes around, the only game I want on the system!

also:
TF2
MGS4
COD4 multiplayer

LBP is a contender, but I've only had a few [kickass] sessions.

Zack and Wiki
Fire Emblem PoR
Final Fantasy Revenant Wings
Wii Fit
Warcraft III
No More HEroes

My comments..

The 360 purchases this year (Mainly CoD4 and GTA IV) did not satisfy me at all.. Especially No More Heroes that is comparable to GTA IV in design was somewhat more appealing to me (although the game suffered from framerate problems etc) While some old school games i played for ages (Warcraft III and FE) did caught my attention again..

Wii Fit was not gaming time but was used as a morning excersise.. I really enjoyed it..

FF RW was a real surprise since i did not have high hopes for it.. same with zack and wiki..

and the game i havent played but had the most fun discussing about -> Wii Music!

MGS4 and COD4.

MGS4 was epic, and COD4 is so much fun..
Same for me.

Honorable mention to the 20 minutes I got with KZ2... holy shit.
I suspect LBP will be number one for me this year though.

No More Heroes - While the game was far from perfect, Suda 51 nailed the controls for the combat. Plus, Travis Touchdown is an awesome original character and the "Virgin Child" song was funny and memorable. I can't wait for the sequel to come out.

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia - The only other Castlevania games I have played are Aria of Sorrow and Harmony of Dissonance. However, Order of Ecclesia is my favorite due to the art style, the music, the glyph system and the level design. Also, Shanoa is hot.

Okami - Still one of the most beautiful looking games I have ever played. The controls also made combat and interacting with the environment so much fun.

Mario Kart Wii - I haven't had this much fun with a Mario kart game on the home console since Mario Kart 64. The motorcycles , jump tricks and online play are great additions.

World of Goo - A simple and stylish game with a moody soundtrack, intuitive controls and relaxing gameplay with good pacing and challenge. Well worth the price of admission.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl - The game has a lot to offer for single player especially due to the ridiculous amount of content that you can unlock but multiplayer remains the best part of the game and is still one of my favorite fighting games.

Well I laughed out loud many times in No More Heroes and though it had it's crappy parts, it's probably the most fun game this year. And though I think DMC4 is shit compared to it's predecessors, it had these really awesome moments like punching Berial and certain insane IR-combos you sometimes pulled through.

MGS4 was fun too until it crashed and burned.

most fun games of '08:
Braid
Portal: Still Alive
No More Heroes
Rez HD
Viva Pinata: Trouble In Paradise
Geo Wars 2
Condemned 2
Boom Blox
N+
Ikaruga

I expect to add to that list:
Gears 2
Left 4 Dead
Prince of Persia

----------------------------
games that disappointed:
GTA IV
Ninja Gaiden 2
Too Human
Fable 2
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts demo (cancelled pre-order)
Mirror's Edge demo (cancelled pre-order)

For me this year, I have most enjoyed:-

- Everybodys Golf - PSP - this game is so addictive, I loves it!

- Portal - PS3 - Even though the PS3 orange box is always criticised, in my experience. I loved the game for the experience it provided, not its loading times.

- Valkyrie Chronicles - PS3 - Only played the demo so far and it completely wowed me... so the game is a must.

- Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core - PSP - Wowed me initially... withered after a while. I will go back to it after Everybodys Gold is 100%.

Later this year im hoping to add Fallout 3 and maybe BioShock to that... all on ps3.

fallout 3 thus far. dead space a close second.

still looking forward to mirror's edge and prince of persia.

but fallout 3 is so much better than i ever expected, and there's so much of it left. i am completely enthralled.
