What genre should Naughty Dog tackle next?

90's cops. Co-op action game. Point Break/Bad Boys.

Seeing as I just was asking for Naughty Dog to essentially take off one of Kojima's work, I can't help but suggest Policnauts to this poster.

It's Hideo Kojima doing a Buddy Cop movie, in the vein of Snatcher.

A filmic third person shooter with some stealth encounters, I guess?

Since Uncharted, ND hasn't strayed too far from this template. TLoU has a different balance of these elements but idk if I'd really consider it a different genre than Uncharted. It's more stealth focused but it's not really a stealth game. And it has a share of forced combat encounters. It has survivalist elements, but it's not really a pure survival horror game either. It's not that far to branch out from what they had done previously. Their next game will probably not stray too far from this either.

True stealth. I'm talking "go through the game without being seen, even on bosses" stealth. A personal story that has little to do with huge companies or organizations trying to rule the world.

No guns.

I definitely want to see them make a fantasy RPG. Even better if it's turn based. We have enough action RPG's on the market.

I'd love to see them do somewhat of a sci-fi/fantasy mix. Their games always have realism with some form of mythical twist to them.

I meant genre in terms of story. The Last of Us may play similar at times to Uncharted, but the tones of the games are polar opposites. Uncharted is larger in scale, TLOU is smaller in scale, Uncharted is breezy, TLOU is quite stifling at times in it's grimness.

I think there strength is in 3rd person titles really. Just want them to make a character that feels more like "Snake" than "Drake".

Whether this is a sci-fi action rpg or a horror game or whatever, I just think ND can improve the character's gameplay mechanics. I will be looking for this in Uncharted too.

Whatever inspires them after that though. They make excellent games, If I had to pick, I would want them to make an open-world third person game.

naughty dog are typically quite derivative and reliant on trends. what's notable about them is their execution. that said, i don't think they'll make a new property for a while. the pull for a last of us sequel is too large, and they can't make 3 games. this is the first sony generation where they won't begin by introducing a new series and it's disappointing. i don't feel that uncharted needed to be continued, honestly.

Whatever it will be it will feature a good looking brunette dude with a for AAA games typical industry conform game design.

How I would love for capable developers such as ND to go all out in an artistical way and create something unique, someting that stands out of the rest of generic AAA mishmash in game design and art direction.

But unfortunately...

You're going to get Uncharted and TLOU sequels.

yeah, what he said.

It might be too obvious but a True Detective style game would please me in ways I don't understand and maybe should not admit. I've played L.A. Noire and would gladly take more.

Egh, I'm pretty sure UC4 will be the last. If there's more, it'll probably be delegated to another studio. So it'll be UC4, TLOU2, then a new IP, in my opinion.

To answer the question, space game, something like Savage Starlight would be awesome.

Not sure why people think that Naughty Dog isn't going to make new IPs and is going to stick to Uncharted and TLOU. Uncharted was the best selling PS exclusive and they still made a new IP, and it ended up selling even better than Uncharted. Not sure why people think they won't do it again. After Uncharted 4 it will most likely either be TLOU2 or new IP. Whichever one it isn't will probably come next.

Hopefully a third person perspective....whatever. I love NDs attention to detail and the characters are such important aspects of their games, TPs really bring out the personality of the character you are playing.

Beyond that I'm game for anything that isn't a platformer.
