Isn't this entire thread predicated on the question: "What is your definition of a slut?"That's your definition of slut. There are men who want women with a limited number of sexual partners and get put off beyond a certain number.
You've mistaken my post if you think my criteria for "sluttiness" is simply being flirtatious or showing off your belly-button.Sexually liberated self respecting women don't look to you for what they can and cannot do. If you want to avert your eyes than do so, but don't label them as sluts just because you think they're showing their belly-button or are flirtatious.

If you wanted to discuss why men get put off by promiscuous women and insult them with negative words such as "slut" or "whore" than you should have aptly made it clear in your thread title and opening post.
You've mistaken my post if you think my criteria for "sluttiness" is simply being flirtatious or showing off your belly-button.

It's not fashionable to talk latent biology but the fact is: for 99% of human history a man's role has been to win the right to spread his personal DNA as widely as possible, where as a woman's was to choose the best DNA partner to nurture a family with.
hooks up in public bath offices
1. Someone who is irresponsibly promiscuous
2. Someone who exploits their sexuality to advance an agenda
3. Someone who engages in sexual activity outside of an established mutually exclusive relationship
4. Someone who makes sexual advances on someone whom they know is in a mutually exclusive relationship
Or are you like me and would not shed a tear if such a judgmental word were stripped from our lexicon, but go ahead and answer.
Pretty much this.
If they're being irresponsible about it and not using protection, exploiting people with sex, or going against pre-established agreements about their own or other people's relationships, then that's kind of slutty.
ANYTHING other than that is a-ok by me. Consenting adults can do whatever the hell they want at whatever frequency they want, and they won't be judged by me. And they shouldn't be judged by anyone.
I'd like you to elaborate on why a woman who has lots of sex doesn't have any self respect.
Please?
Oh geez, I'll answer it for him so that both of you can stop the word games: gays.
I don't believe I am all over the place. Just take a gander on the web and you'll find a few examples of people stating that 'butthurt' is in deed offensive. I could swear that on NeoGAF over the last few years I've seen the same being said. My point in this whole thing is that people are offended by words. The power isn't in the word itself. The same goes with slut. It's a freaking word and people have many definitions for it. Stop giving a word so much power if you have a problem with it in the first place.
Yah im not trying to say that a women who has a lot of sex doesnt have self respect, I guess in a way you can tell who's a slut most of the time. We use the word to loosely now, all us girls always say "ugh shes such a slut".
I understand your point, but I doubt you'd find many young men who are going to call women sluts simply for being flirtatious or showing off their belly buttons.Well you see, that's just it isn't it? They're "your criteria".
That's because, to me, sluts aren't desirable sex partners. You're criteria for sluttiness is dependent on someones outward perception. You are the worst kind of offender when it comes to using the term. Without even speaking to the actual act of sex you are associating a woman with sexual negativity simply for how they dress and act.
Yeah, keep wishing for that.
Let's say your essentially right but where does the hostility come from? And don't men in fact fuck themselves over when they slut shame? They should strive for more sexually liberated women and then they shoot themselves in the fucking foot. And I'm not going to bother to get into the denizens of women that embrace our fucking pedestals and keep up the status quo of mother or whore.
That's because, to me, sluts aren't desirable sex partners.
I don't find their behavior, demeanor or look the least bit attractive.
You talk as if you are the ideal women. no offense I love you and everything but that's what that last sentence sounded like to me.
Yes, what he was almost assuredly getting at but now refuses to cop to because he realizes what an idiotic comment it was.
1) If it was a reference to anal penetration, that is not an act that is inherently homosexual. The fact that he's attributing it to homosexuals and self-defining it as a derogatory term could be considered highly offensive, especially considering his use ( 1 2 ) of the term.
I will keep wishing. I realize it's unrealistic, because people like to feel superior about pretty much anything. But really, why the fuck should I care about someone else's sex life? Why should I think they're slutty if they've had a lot? To me that smacks of a jealousy and superiority complex. As long as they're being responsible about it and using protection or getting tested and all that then what's the harm? They're not hurting you or me. Have fun, I say. Have a lot of fun! You've only got one life to live, so go live it. If sex makes you happy, go have it. No skin off my back. There are far worse things they could choose to be doing. They could be out causing trouble or hurting other people. But no, they're making love to one another? Why is that so bad?
In the eyes of someone who would call the other two types of woman a slut? I'd be willing to put money on it.
Oh. My. God, Becky. Look at her butt.
I agree with you. However being judgmental just seems to be human nature and I have no faith that that particular attribute will ever dwindle in any kind of noticeable way. So people either need to stop giving a fuck about the judgement of others or stop doing the things they're judged for if they care that much.
You can call the woman married with a healthy sex life and you can also call her a slut.
That's not to say she has to be married to not be a slut.
There's no point in continuing this discussion if you're going to consistently and willfully misinterpret my statements as attacks on sexually liberated women. So you choose to use an offensive word because sexually powerful women intimidate you.
Women can be unattractive to me without insulting them, certainly, and I always try to refrain from insulting anybody (I've personally never called or referred to a woman as a slut for example)Sorry to put it so bluntly, but a woman can be unattractive to you without you having to insult them.
That's your definition of slut. There are men who want women with a limited number of sexual partners and get put off beyond a certain number.
That's almost all men, and not all of them use the word slut to describe women. Let's not kid around, even the most liberal of men have some kind of number or standard that they apply.

However, this thread is asking for my personal definition of an inherently negative and insulting word; I don't expect to be denigrated for disclosing my opinion on the definition of said word.
I'd like to clear things with you and state that I never willfully choose to use the word slut outside of threads on internet forums where it's the focal point of discussion; I'm not sure where you got the idea that I do.I did not start this thread, but the fact that you so willfully use such a derogatory word is astounding to me. In the worst way possible as well. Without any regard to the impact it has outside of whatever circle of influence you inhabit.
You are perfectly okay with describing a woman as a slut as a way to degrade them because of sexuality which helps to set back any kind of initiative to 'take back' the word as Steam has been espousing. You are the example that I was looking for to point to and say 'SEE!'.
I think we should strike the word 'slut' from the English language completely.
The word 'Strumpet' is just so much more effective.
How you got that from that statement I have no idea.

I like "tart" too.
They might not use the term slut but it's implied in that kind of logic was my point whether expressly vocalized in a slur or not.
"the denizens of women that embrace our pedastals"
What does that mean? what pedestals are so high yet so low you can let go and denizens of women can cling on?
"status quo of mother or whore"
I thought status quos change by the times.. But women have always been mothers. I don't really understand that.. You want women to not want to be moms?
You can perhaps regulate or discourage the use of a certain word but people's feelings, instincts, and preferences will always be their own. Men simply are territorial and posessive in that way and how much that can be controlled by culture or education is as yet unknown.

Ok, so folks, do you judge someone if they had a new sexual partner every week?
Or are you like me and would not shed a tear if such a judgmental word were stripped from our lexicon, but go ahead and answer.
I thought 1984 and instantly went to "double minus whore".
