On TMNT (Arcade):
I think people are just nostalgia-bombing this game. As a brawler, it was awful: The mechanics weren't remotely balanced or rewarding. Bosses were absurdly overpowered. Obstacles that were placed in ridiculous locations just to suck quarters. Weird animations in combat.

So many quarters...
Yeah, both TMNT arcade games are just quarter munchers to be quite honest. The SNES Turtles in Time is better balanced.
Replayed turtles in time yesterday because of this thread. Still is the king of brawlers for me In terms of accessibility, graphics that oozes character and above all: sheer fun.
Let's be honest here: after all those years still nothing beats throwing foot soldiers at your screen.![]()
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pinball machine is a personal favourite of mine, and it was funny that most of these units have toys from the action figurine line, most of which we're unaltered.

Hate to say it, but that probably devalued the SNES game.
Thanks for linking to my article! I spent over a year getting that thing done with all the interviews and whatnot so I am happy it got noticed here.
same here
As far as I know, there weren't any plans for a 4th game. However, the interesting part?

I'd love to see a Platinum take on a 3d brawler...one day.

Can't wait 'till you rip Out of the Shadows a new one in a future update. It's a pity, with the animation and comic sides shining at their brightest right now, that the gaming side had to be fed toThanks for linking to my article! I still want to know the name of this artist. All three of these box arts are clearly done by the same person. The art style and painting style all kinda match up. Whoever this person is, did a lot of work for Konami in the 90's. Most notably for the US SNES. Genesis and Game Boy box art. I always kinda liked his work.
Turtles in Time for sure.
Though the most nostalgia causing TMNT game is Fall of the Foot Clan on the Gameboy. Just thinking back makes me wanna crawl in my bed, grab my old GB and play it once again (if I'd only knew where my GB is).
1990 was just perfect in this regard. Since my parents decided to move to Germany, I learned about the Turtles three years after its first episode in the US but fell in love with it right away. The GB game came out in the same year so my hype was yet very huge and it became my first GB game, together with (the bundled) Tetris and The Amazing Spider-Man.
Anyone remembers that one?![]()
The NES version of Arcade was impressive considering the hardware but it was a far cry from the coin op ofcourse. The problem was the limited animation and thus lack of moves. No throws, no glide kicks etc. Every foot soldier had to be hit twice and would then die. This combined with more and far longer stages, and lack of 4p made it a boring affair. But it was the best you could get back then and loved it despite all this.
It could've been moved to the SNES perhaps but the game came out at the height of the TMNT craze and was a smash hit anyway.
The original and best.
