What Ninja Turtles game was your personal favorite?

The current comic art has them in Northhamton.

If anyone here is a turtles fan and isn't reading the IDW comic, they need to be. It's FANTASTIC.

Oh, and Turtles in Time is by far my favorite.
Agreed so very, very, very much. As much as I do like the NickToon, the IDW comic is more along the lines of what I was personally hoping for.

Anyway, gotta rep for Tournament Fighters SNES. What could've been a bad SF2 clone as much as the Genesis game was actually a very competently done fighting game in its own right. My only qualm was that Konami didn't make sequels/updates to it that added more characters, when they had the chance.

Radical Rescue was also a pretty good Metroid-like game. That game was made by a number of the same staffers that would go on to make SOTN years later!

I remember playing the hell out of TMNT (NES) but on my PC (assuming DOS). Was super hard but I would've been extremely young at the time.
The DOS version was not only hard, it was outright unwinnable thanks to a level design goof resulting in an impossible jump:

The Manhattan Project, on NES. Probably one of the better soundtracks in the series

it always felt like a shitty game they stuck the turtles into after getting the license, since it had all kinds of random no name enemies instead of stuff we actually recognized.

That's because it is. The first Turtles game is basically Getsu Fuuma Den, except (relatively) easier and with the TMNT license

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the NES.

I think anyone who says Arcade, Turtles in Time have nostalgia goggles. Go back and play those now. They don't hold up at all. They require no skill, no thought, and could be played blind folded. They are boring.

At least TMNT NES required some skill. thought, and had difficulty.

Seriously speaking though, I liked the original NES version the best. The beat-em-ups lost their charm after a while. OG Turtles at least had some exploration elements to it as well and was a challenging game.

Huh? They're FAR more superior to TMNT 1 on the NES. Highly doubt that people like myself would go back to play TMNT 1 NES.

Oh man, I had one of those. This pic makes me wish I still had it

I remember having something like that, though it was TMNT 2: Splinter Speaks. Pretty good as well.

Turtles in Time for Snes is by far the best.

turtles in Time for the Arcade maybe second best...

Turtles 3 : the Manhattan project for NES in third place

Turtles 2 the arcade game for arcades in 4th place

Hyperstone Heist in 5th

Turtles 2 for NES in 6th place.

Whatever else is out there is mostly junk that doesn't matter. The genesis /snes versions of tournament fighter were both average fighters at best.

I remember my friend and I heard that they had the first TMNT game at a store for rent as kids and sure enough it was. Was it a good challenge? Yeah it was but that was nothing new in the day, it was common and didnÂ’t seem out of the ordinary. The swimming level was extremely tough at first sure, but eventually I could get through it without touching any of that darn seaweed that killed you. Became a challenge to myself to get through without touching it at all. Eventually two or three years after the game was out I had the chance to get it again and managed to beat it.

Turtles II was so fun. Played that as much as the first NES game, I remember we were quite impressed with it at that time. Definitely was easier than the first and was quite enjoyed but didnÂ’t quite catch me in the same way as the first as it felt like anyone could blaze through it compared to the first game.

Turtles in Time was the first game I ever owned personally. I got it for Christmas and along with my brother we began to play and beat it that day. In fact we beat the game through our first play through. I remember being disappointed by that, for some reason it felt short. Maybe I was enjoying the game that much at the time. Eventually played it so much I got sick of the game.

Leonardo was always my turtle to play. Swords, nothing beats swords. Plus he had a blue mask.

TMNT2 The Arcade Game for NES. I remember when we got it, we played the hell out of it, almost daily. It was difficult for us kids, but eventually we got better and better and finally we were able to beat the game, and we did it again and again. The game was so good. Unfortunately we had to sell the game along with all the other games and the actual NES to get SNES, but that wasn't too bad after we actually got SNES (I still have it and it works) and some games :D

TMNT4: Turtles in Time is the second best Turtles game I played. I never had it, but my friend did (and still has). The game was easy compared to TMNT2, but it was still basically upgrade in every other way. Still not quite as good as TMNT2. We actually played the game with my friend the last time I was visiting him. He lives in another city, so we don't get to see too often, but the game was still fun to play.

With your continuity preferences, Manhattan Missions on DOS would be right up your alley then.

Thanks, didnt know about that game, even though I played a lot of MS-DOS games. If you had no internet and no shops had it available....

It's funny - people always say this, but, I never found the first one for NES so difficult. I mean, it was challenging, sure - but not the impossible game that so many people seem to have found it.

It's not my favorite Turtles game, but I enjoyed it very much as well.

main difficulty was the last stage and it really depended on CPU AI. In the last corridor sometimes lasers from the flying robots would shoot above you, if you pressed down. All of them! But other times they'd touch you slightly and you'd lose half the life bar. Again, all lasers! So you had to have at least two turtles with full life bar if that was the case, in order to survive till Shredder. Or else it was game over.

The SNES Turtles in Time is my favorite. It's not as graphically impressive as the arcade version, but the content changes are better.

The first stand up arcade machine had me thinking this was the experience I was missing from the orginal NES title. I was a TMNT super fan and finished the Fall of the Foot Clan a few times on my Game Boy, but it left a lot to be desired. My tastes were quickly waning by the time other titles came out but I did prefer the brawlers over the side scrollers generally.

Damn I want Rock Steady to make a TMNT game...with Rat King Casey Jones Splinter Shredder and gang.

Played the hell out of Turtles in Time, the first NES game, the arcade NES game, the arcade arcade game and rented the SNES and Genesis fighting games a bunch.

Re-shelled isn't awful, but just a huge let-down considering how many arcade classics got done right on XBLA.

I bet there's a Lego TMNT game in the works.

Yeah, it definitely did get rather difficult toward the end.

It seems that, most of the time it gets mentioned as being difficult, it's generally, "Oh, that dam level with the seaweed and everything." And, really, that part wasn't very difficult at all, especially once one got used to it.

Turtles in Time (Arcade) SNES version was great, but no four player action, which I remember fondly in the arcades.

Best: Turtles in Time

Second Best: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Radical Rescue (Game Boy) - It's actually pretty awesome, it's pretty much metroid but with the turtles, each one having a unique ability, best turtles game no one has played. Nice difficulty and soundtrack, love this game

Runner up1: TMNT 2 for NES: dat soundtrack
Runner up2: TMNT for NES: Really enjoyed this game, never got the hate for it

Turtles in Time for SNES, easily. The best thing was that it took things that were random gimmicks in the Arcade (like throwing enemies toward the screen) and turned them into controllable mechanics. Heck, the fact they even got the "throw the guys into the screen" move onto the console was impressive at the time.

The only bad part was that they took out the 4 Player (hardware limitations, sprite limits and all that I assume), and even 2 Player co-op wouldn't show the "Hi-Five" win animation.

Probably the first arcade game next, but it was pretty cheap. The NES conversion had lots of issues, but I still played it a lot. Manhattan Project wasn't terrible, either, and it was one of the few games where I independently discovered a cheat code, so it has a special place in my heart.

I like the GBA one, but I got stuck pretty badly at a certain point, and eventually didn't want to go back to it.

I used to have this as a kid! ...I think I beat it, actually. Carried it on many a car trip, at any rate.

Used to bug me how they all had the red bandanas (I sort of knew why, but it still bugged me).

I have a Turtles in Time arcade cabinet, which is wonderful and my favorite turtles game to date. I can not make a comparison to the SNES version however, as I have not played it.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (NES/Genesis/SNES)

Came to post these two. TMNT on NES was such an awesome game. I only beat it once because I lucked up and found the Technodrome on my first try on stage 5. You have to search for the Technodrome on that level and it's hard to get to.

Turtles Tournament Fighting on SNES was my shit. Loved that game.

My cousin and I used to go all the way in playing TMNT: The Arcade Game and Turtles in Time, so those get honorable mentions as well.

Turtles in Time was great, but I also always had a soft spot for Tournament Fighters as well, given how much I remember playing Street Fighter II on the SNES. Both games had terrific box art too.

On a semi-related note, I picked up the first three collected volumes of the IDW series today, which I haven't followed at all up to this point, but have heard only good things about.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time for the SNES, me and my cousin played the heck out of it and the music is still awesome!

Man I am jealous! The arcade version of Turtles in Time is my favorite as well. The sprites are animated so well. Also...Pizza Power one of the greatest songs of all time.
