Some fine gentleman on Reddit put together the full list of just complementary games given out between June 2012 and and May 2013.

Over all, for both the PS3 and Vita, there were 49 games given out.

I don't own a PS3, so I don't use the service, but from my understanding you get to keep these games and play them for free so long as you remain subscribed to PS+.

That's pretty awesome. I was thinking about abandoning consoles completely, but I might pick up a PS4 if this kind of stuff continues. I only buy two or three games a year for my 360 but pay $10 more per year for Xbox Live, where all Xbox Live allows me to do is play games I don't like anymore online.
 
Weird thread, but yeah...ps+ is good stuff. Free online and + as a seperate service paying for basically renting games as long as you remain a member is a great thing.
 
I was honestly expecting there to simply be a picture of someone crying in front of a television with no games displayed on it. 49 games sounds good but the list is so-so. I get it, free stuff is wonderful when it's actually free but this is more like renting. As in you are paying to rent something you didn't ask to rent.
 
Sure hope the developers of those games are getting most of that $50. There a big potential of lost sales of those games, especially the new ones that could have just been discounted to get it into peoples hands.

Anyway, + has been amazing.
I have been able to catch up on games that I have missed, try games that I have been meaning to get to and also try things that might have slipped by.
The discounts have been great also and it has paid for itself many times over.
 
I think PS+ is a pretty lame service if you game a lot or aren't much of a Playstation Gamer. Half the time I've played the games, or the games aren't very good, or they're really old. I let my PS+ expire because I don't feel like I got my moneies worth.


I can see the appeal and love for the service, but it wasn't quiet for me.

Honestly the free games are secondary to me, PS+ is worth it for the discounts. I just picked up 15 months of PS+ for $40 about a month ago and the discounts on PSN games is worth that alone, the free games are the cherry on top. A lot of them.
 
PlayStation Plus.

Pros: Discounts for games and keep them permanent, "rental" of games at no extra cost provided you are an active subscriber

Cons: If you are in North America, Grace Chen Time.

Better than renting the ability to play my own games online.

I mainly use it for the discounts anyway. I more than make up the year membership fee with discounts - the free games are just gravy. Gravy i rarely have the time to play.

Yes. Everyone knows. Everyone is fine with it. Its the same as every subscription service.

Publishers had to agree to the games being included. I'm sure they can look out for themselves.
 
I've made my opinion quite publicly known, but to reiterate -- PS Plus is a leading light in terms of what an online gaming service should be offering in exchange for a fee. It makes a joke out of Xbox Live by offering -- rather than ransoming -- items of value.

Sony did damn well with Plus, and I hope against hope it maintains it with the PS4.
 
I've rented maybe 10 of the 49. And only downloaded at least... 3. Infamous 2, King of Clooneys '13, and Spec Ops.

Only because I don't already own those 3 out of the 10.

The rest is either stuff I don't care about to where I don't care if it's never added to my rental list since I'd never download it even as a rental, or stuff I own.

The bigger benefit of the service is the discounts of 75% when available.
 
Needs a list for PAL/EU! We frequently got titles that made Americans envious.

I've gotten heaps out of my sub. Infamous 2, Darksiders, Just Cause 2 and Sleeping Dogs have been my highlights, and I've Platinumed all four.

Except I'd still subscribe based on the discounts alone. I've surely saved over $50 (which is the price of the subscription) on discounts for highly desired games like the Resident Evil series and the independent titles that have been hitting the PSN.

Then you get the free games which are very well selected, I mean we got The Cave, Spec Ops The Line, infamous 2, LBP2, Quantum Conundrum, etc etc. It's a very appealing service.

Also, game variety is suffering these days in a market that seems to be supporting 3 or 4 big titles the most. Putting a nice rotation on different games for free helps broaden what kind of games people try. I love The Cave and Quantum Conundrum, though I wouldn't have tried it without Plus.

That I can accept. If you honestly find the value in the service itself and see the others as merely secondary benefits that's fine. I just find it weird that there seems to be this notion that getting games you may or may not have wanted somehow makes the service worth it on its own. It'd be like if Microsoft suddenly told people "Hey on top of Xbox live's normal features everyone will now get a free copy of Perfect Dark Zero (As long as they have live) with their sub".

Seks just get the stuff you don't want so that they will be on you download list.

You don't need to download then right away, but they will stay on your list after the game is gone from plus so you'll always be able to play it later if you want.

I do this with every single free game on Plus.
 
This service is pretty damn great, it amazes me what they give out. I seriously thought they'd give out a couple free games and do a bunch of "exclusive" demos and some $1 discounts, but they've been knocking it out the park!
 
There's few better gaming feelings than having a game on your watchlist, thinking about buying a copy when it goes cheap, and then finding out it's a free game on PS+.

But it's not like we don't know that's exactly what we're subscribing to.
 
Brilliant service that's well worth the money. I'm playing games I wouldn't normally bother with and getting into series I wouldn't have before. That is a great benefit to publishers too.

I was just thinking this the other day actually about how many games I've been "given" thanks to PS+ in a year. It's an embarrassment of riches :D

If you can't find something you want to play on that list of 49 games, then maybe it's time to give up the hobby. It's an incredibly varied list.
 
My PS3 was dead for the better part of the last two years so I missdd out on squeezing the optimal amount of value out of the service.

God, I hope hope hope they keep it going this nicely on the PS4.

Yes, PS+ is nice, but I don't see Microsoft doing anything to compete with it (in the same level)
 
Been a member since Feb 2011. I can't imagine how much money I've saved from the discounts alone.

And getting Vita benefits at no extra cost is awesome too.

How is that weird? I didn't want to spend $200+ to purchase Uncharted GA, Wipeout 2048, Gravity Rush, Darksiders, Demon's Souls, Joe Danger 2, and Vanquish, but to get access to all of them and more for a year for only $50 is a fantastic deal.

None of those games compare to 7 year old crap like PDZ. It would be more like if MS let Xbox Live Gold members have access to titles like Darksiders, Joe Danger 2, Vanquish etc. as well as MS exclusives like Shadow Complex, Halo and Gears of War.
 
There's a lot of confusion about plus in that reddit thread which kinda indicates to me Sony hasn't done a good job explaining or selling its excellent service
 
The real beauty of playstation + isn't the free games, those are nice and all, but yesterday I bought God of War 1 and 2, and PSASBR for just over $30.
The discounts are the true juicy center.
 
dont forget Onlive as well. They "give" out over 200 pc games with their service. you guys should jump on that deal.

I can see them doing a smaller downloadable game for launch but in reality they'll probably follow the same time frame as the Vita, PS4 launch> 6-7 months> launch of PS+ for PS4. That timing would give them something big to announce at E3 2014.

That's not what I mean though. I'm sure when you sign up you understand what you're getting or at least I would hope the majority of folks would. I just find it awkward that this sort of perk as it were is somehow seen as validation of the quality of the service. As if saying "Hey look at these free games, boy that monthly fee is worth it just for that." I would hope instead the emphasis would be put on what Plus does as its own thing rather than seen as a value for some gimmick or give away that's merely a component of it.

Myself personally I never went for Plus. I was satisfied with the basic service as is and have pretty much stayed that way since launch. It's just when companies do something like this it feels to me as if it's there way of saying, "Hey, everything is as good as its going to be so we'll throw in some extras and call it a night". I'd rather they draw people in by constantly improving the service itself and upgrading and/or integrating new concepts and ideas to make it more than simply competitive with something like Live for example.

Woa there, no game on PS+ has ever been as bad as Perfect Dark Zero! And that is my favorite part, I'd pay for a service that just gives me random games I didn't know I wanted. I've found so many interesting/smaller games that I'd never would have touched, if it wasn't for the discounts/free-titles. It's really entertaining and every Tuesday is exciting (I don't check whats coming out).
