What's something you wouldn't buy used?

I will buy most things used, provided I get a good deal on it.

I probably wouldn't buy a used mattress or couch though. Clothes are fair game (except underwear/undershirts). Electronics? Fuck yes, especially for older parts. I just bought an i5 CPU for my laptop for $25 and an extra 2 GB ram stick for $10.

Electronics I have to touch.
I'm fine with a second-hand monitor/TV, but noooope at PCs/Laptops/Smartphones/Tablets/Smartwatches.

Just clean it brah.

Although I would probably be hesitant to buy a used keyboard/mouse/headphones. Tough to get the grime out of those. But you can pretty easily wipe down a tablet or phone.

The list of things I would never buy used is quite short. This is it in it's entirety:
1) Pants
2) Toothbrush
3) Wheelchair

Everything else is fine, as long as the used product looks good.

I think the better question for me is, "What are some things you would buy used." A car, a videogame, furniture (though not really anymore) and.. that's about it.

Most other things I'd prefer to buy new.

Headphones especially the in ear type. Also underwear but of course you would never BUY used underwear, you steal it from your hookup to sniff later.

Aside from the obvious unhygienic answers, I'm not exactly sure.

I tend to avoid used things, for one because I don't want to buy something that is scratched/damaged/worn out/etc. I especially prefer buying new electronics, because like every animal I like shiny things, but for some reason I feel like if it's scratched/etc. that takes away from my enjoyment of how shiny/nice to look at something is. This would especially bother me on a phone or other small screen that I would be looking at.

I'm sure if a deal was good enough I'd buy used electronics, but it would have to be a substantial discount for me to do it.

I think a more interesting question for me is "what's something you wouldn't buy new?".

Welcome back everyone, thanks for sticking around. This is the final round and what we're looking for here are things you wouldn't buy used. Things you wouldn't buy used.

Up first is terrisus. Well known for being uncomfortable when people try to be funny, yet steady with the "jokes." Can you name something that you wouldn't buy used?

Underwear

Number one answer! Alright terrisus, alright. Next up is GK86: name something you wouldn't buy used...

Oh wow. Moving on, spindashing will set us straight:

No.

i'm pretty sure there's some semen in my keyboard, so you're probably bang on the money there.

Wait, what?

USED CONDOMS!?

Alright. Thanks for watching.

What if you only needed it for a few months?
You're still going to go out and buy one?

When I needed a wheelchair for a couple of months, my insurance would only cover the cost of renting one. Which was fine by me.

Honestly, I dunno. I've never needed one myself but my grandmother had to use a used one for a bit and it really scared me off of used wheelchairs. That thing was not... good.

The only thing that I wouldn't by used clothes wise is knickers.
Agreed.

*Knickers/Ginch.
*Car seats for kids.
*Helmets.
*Magazines...feels creepy.
*Certain furniture.
*Toiletries of any kind.

My rule is if you can feel the spirit essence of those who've owned it before, and it's of an evil stench or nature, just pass.

Pretty sure I've heard this question on Family Fued. Other than obvious things like a mattress, I will not buy a used couch unless I know exactly where it came from. I'm kind of paranoid about bed bugs.

tires

With tires, those used tire joints look shady as fuck.

I got some used tires once a half way decent looking place. They ended up being some really cool Slavic dudes, they even sent me a Christmas card. The tires I got were pretty decent, I got over a year on them for like $120.

I suffer from OCD.

I don't buy anything that has been used before. I can't even imagine doing something like that. I wish I was joking, but someone once used my keyboard and mouse for several minutes and it took me 1,5 weeks just go get over that and use them again myself. And this person was a relatively clean person, if someone with filthy hands would touch it... I'd probably sell them and buy a new keyboard and mouse.

It'd suck to like niche games.

Or retro games as a whole.

Cloth furniture. I'd never buy a couch for example (maybe leather, except I'm not much of a fan of leather couches in the first place) because I'd never feel like I could properly clean deeply enough. Bed bugs and shit like that... I don't want to increase my chances of getting them in my home.

Underwear is obvious. Any used personal item that comes close to a person's mouth or genitals is basically a no-no in the used item world.

I'm surprised at the guy that wouldn't buy used electronics he would have to touch. I've bought used phones before. Just take a Q-tip and some ethyl alcohol and wipe that bitch down. Throw some hydrogen peroxide on a second Q-tip after that and you've basically disinfected it as good as you'd ever need to to remove all the dehydrated semen.

USED CONDOMS!?

Alright. Thanks for watching.

Excellent work.

Generally it depends on how used it is. I bought a 1 month gently used keyboard that was completely fine. I opened up the keycaps to check how dirty it was inside and it was pretty much brand new. I'd never buy used undies though, yuck.

I guess. Games are the least of my concern though.

Just imagine someone touching your hair or even your clothing and then obsessing over that. Did that person wash his hands? Did he touch anything else before touching me? For me, it's not the fear of germs. I don't fear germs, even though that's common for OCD. Instead, I just don't like it when other people touch something that is mine. And only if it is mine.

For all I care, fifty people could use the keyboard at work and I wouldn't care. Unless it is really nasty. Anyway, the moment something isn't mine... I don't care that much. It's like the OCD disappears. I think it is because my brain knows that it doesn't matter, as long as I have my own stuff at home which is clean. It's still strange though.

And to think I was somewhat of a messy teenager back in the day... I'd have long hair, I'd only wash it if really needed, I only washed my face real quick in the morning, only changed clothes every four or five days and I'd wear my jeans even longer.

These days, I have to take a shower every morning. I brush my teeth first. I wear new clothes every single day and my hair has to be short at all times or it bothers me. I know this might still seem normal to people with similar patterns, but my pattern isn't a choice... It's required so I won't suffer from OCD all day long. A normal person could miss a shower or wear a t shirt for more than one day if needed. I can't do that. OCD really changed my life. I might feel more clean, but it's not worth the depression and general anxiety.

Sorry if I seem to hijack this thread, the OPs question just made me realise how hard it really is for me to use anything that has been used before. At least in my personal space.
