Something wrong is going on with trophies lately.

I have got two PS3s (a Slim and a Fat). The Slim is the one I use now. The Fat is the one my kids use.

So I was cross checking stuff with a friend and he was telling me my profile shows 2 NHL Arcade trophies in the "last earned ones" list. I haven't played NHL Arcade for ages so I checked my profile on my Slim and indeed no NHL Arcade trophies are shown. Last trophies I got on the Slim are Flow ones. And they show up indeed.

But what about those NHL Arcade ones? Perhaps my kids have been playing NHL Arcade and apparently have unlocked those trophies without me realizing it? So I re-sync on the Slim to see if my Profile gets updated. Nothing. Still Flow trophies as last earned.

I then go to the PSN website, and update my profile there. Guess what? NHL Arcade trophies are added to the list (my kids were actually playing it after all, and earned those trophies in the process!). I can see them on the friggin' website, but not on my system. Scratching head and re-sync on my Slim again and... boom, NHL Arcade trophies are now added to the Profile card as well! WTF is going on?

If those NHL Arcade trophies where actually on the Sony servers (which I assume so since they showed up on the website as earned 8 days ago), how come they didn't show up on my very own Slim? How come they did eventually show up only upon re-syncing AFTER having updated the website profile? And most of all, how the hell could my friend see those trophies on my Profile via his PS3 before all this syncing and re-syncing process took place?

I'm puzzled as to what is going on.

Also, some games don't show up on the website at all (Super Stardust HD, Resistance, Flow) despite having collected related trophies. And yet, the total amount of trophies matches.

Anyone experiences the same issue?

Edit: I should add I didn't sync trophies on the Fat since I switched to the Slim. And yet those NHL Arcade trophies did show up everywhere, even on Facebook!

No. That's not the thing. The last earned trophies I refer to is the one that shows up on the main Profile page on the PS3 itself.

Checked again a day after (or so) and they were there.

I'm guessing that with all the new PSN accounts, that Sony's going to need to upgrade their shit.

On a serious note, have you gameshared? Someone maybe used your account to play that game. Short of that, it could have been a glitch that will be fixed.

yeah, something's not right with the servers. you sync your trophies and when you go to your profile, it isn't updated.
it only updates after a day at least?
really weird, here's hoping they fix it soon (it's kinda annoying) and i'm still hoping for auto-sync =D

EA also keeps track of that stuff through their servers. Maybe there is a EA server - PSN trophy connection that updated those remotely?

The trophy system definitely has its quirks. I just backed up my system, synchronized my trophies, and installed a 500GB HDD a couple days ago. I restored the backup and synchronized my trophies, so they all showed up, again. I played a match of SF4 with my buddy, and a crapload of trophy alerts popped up for a bunch of trophies I already had. I hadn't read anything about that behavior before, so I was surprised. It's not a big deal, but is a little annoying, because now it's sometimes hard to tell if a trophy alert is new or not on some games.

I had a problem with a Demon's Souls trophy last night. I got the trophy for best weapon through suckerstone, synced with the server, then went to my profile card (in XMB, not sure the correct term for it) to check my level since I was just few percent from level 7. Nope, showed I was still at level 6, with the last three trophies being from Gravity Crash. Tried syncing again, profile card still wasn't updated. The regular trophy listing in the game section of the XMB showed the trophy, even Facebook showed it. I was starting to get a little worried, but about five minutes later my profile finally updated.

I wonder if Sony's trying a little too hard to optimize the trophy servers...

Ok, things are getting even more crazy. It's like twilight zone of trophies.

I just finished the sync process of the Fat. This is what happened.

1 - Upon finishing the long sync process, NHL Arcade trophies where not showing up in Profile.
2 - Re-syncing again NHL Arcade trophies do finally show up.
3 - I got back to Slim (which showed those last NHL Arcade trophies after the whole process described in the OP) and guess what? It doesn't show them anymore now? I back to where I started!
4 - I resync again on the Slim and boom, NHL Arcade trophies are back.
5 - I resync again on the Slim and poof, NHL Arcade trophies are gone.
6 - I resync again on the Slim and boom, NHL Arcade trophies are back.

Basically, every time I sync on Slim NHL Arcade trophies come and go. How is this possible?

You topped out the trophies and glitched the system like pacman.
I'm assuming it's an issue with the server and the difference in the listing is because of using two ps3s. A few days ago, I had two trophies show up on my local list but not my profile until the next day. it was the first time that had happened.

Trophies are stored on your machine locally, that way you can get them even if you're not logged into PSN. So when you get them on another machine that uses your same account, your first machine will not know that it's supposed to display them under the trophy section, until you sync them with the server - on both machines (first sync on the second one where you earned them).

Now the problem you experienced with them not showing up even after syncing on your slim, might be just because their server was a bit busted at that moment? That's why it showed up afterward when you synced again.

*edit* OK, the problem goes far beyond that, and the additional oddity is just too odd.

But they dont show up if I sync again. And the do if I sync again. And they dont if I sync again... and so on. If those damn trophies are on the servers, the should either shop up or not when syncing, not going back and forth every time I sync :lol

It's not a delay thing. I could live with that.

Here I've got trophies that come and go every time a sync. They don't "stick"!

I'm not losing any but I have noticed the last few days that they take a while to appear now on your profile after syncing even though they show on the other list. Also been having probs with adding a friend, he accepted me but i dont show up on his list and he still appears as pending on mine. I've sent 3 requests in total and when he tries to add on subsequent ones it just says I'm already a friend. Sort it out Sony!

Ok, last post cos I'm going crazy.

I just now tried simply looking at my profile on my Slim without manually syncing. I did it 5 times in a row. 1st and 2nd time it showed me the NHL Arcade trophies, 3rd one it didn't, 4th one either, 5th one it did! I repeat, I'm not syncing anything! It's all done "locally" and yet the trophies amount changes every time I look at my Profile!

Do you have the NHL game on the Slim?

Hmm. Interesting question. I don't. It shows up in the Trophy Collection tho (with different amounts of trophies depending on when I check it). I'll try to download it and see what happens.

Done: nothing has changed. The amount of trophies is still random. Sometimes it shows me those NHL Arcade ones, others it doesn't. This DOES NOT affect the Trophy collection. Those two trophies show up in the collection no matter what the Profile is reporting. All of this without doing any syncing. Very, very odd.

I'm pretty sure I got a trophy that I wasn't even alerted of the other night when I was playing Dead Space.

I was flipping through my trophies and saw a trophy that it claimed I earned an hour prior, but XMB never blooped me.

Also experiencing delay weirdness.

I've noticed a delay in the profile on my PS3, where the profile didn't pick up the last earned trophies as people have said for a few minutes. Which I chalked up to there being a queue powering the profile and it coming down from the server regardless.

The only thing I can surmise about the there one second, gone the next is that there's a cluster of servers and you're hitting one that doesn't have that data when you sync the console. Assuming they're got an eventually consistent design, it should shake it out at some time in the future.

It looks like the ps3 is going to the trophy servers to get the "last trophies" that you received, not your local machine.

Since there would be multiple trophy servers, each with their own memory cache, the problem is most likely the trophy servers have not all synchronized.

I'd assume your issue will be fixed with in a few hours or days, once they correctly sync. If not, then other people will probably start having this happen, and complaints will grow.
