When did you stopped getting ID checked regularly?

I've had a full goatee since I was 14 and I've been being proactively offered alcohol by waiters since I was about 15. I can't remember ever having been asked for an ID for anything that wasn't an M-rated video game.

People frequently tell me I look younger than I am so all the time with one exception.
Local wine and spirits store clerk recognizes me so I don't need to show ID their anymore.

carded? what's that?

he's 18

Package store -> packie. Not a slur for 7/11s.

Sorry about jumping to conclusions. That sort of sounds like a backronym though, Paki has been a slur against any brown Asian for any very long time. And especially in the UK, corner shops have been called that.

But perhaps different locales have different roots for similar sounding words and all.

When I was 17. I still don't necessarily look that old or anything but almost every cashier I come across can't be bothered to ask me to show ID

About 36ish or so.
It's been roughly longer than a year (I'm 38) since I can remember being carded buying beer/cigars. My staff love to play the game "Guess the bosses age" whenever we have new hires.

If you walk in like you own the place or buy beer/cigs all the time they tend to not card you. I go to the same places though, they know me by now. Going to others stores it's like 70/30 not getting carded. And yeah, same with whether I shave or not as well.

UK resident here: I haven't been ID'd in a very long time, maybe since I was 18. I can grow facial hair but it's not the fullest, so it's a bit of a mystery as to why. I've been told, apart from the facial hair, I look about five years older than I actually am, and I actually am 22 (23 tomorrow) so that probably helps.

It's perfectly understandable.

It's a regional term from the Boston area here in the states. Nothing ethnic about it. Sorry for offending.

I get checked every time I buy something like alcohol, games etc. I am only 20 years old at the moment so I no big deal. I also think Id checking is very important.

Heh, I discovered this regional difference in an interesting way. Apparently saying Packie anywhere else besides the US northeast is not good :/ I said it in front of someone of middle eastern descent and he took offence. Even after I explained what I meant he was convinced that the term originally came from racism.

I find that I have my ID checked for alcohol purchases more frequently now than I did when I was underaged (back in the 80s). I think liability concerns are much more prevalent so there is a greater focus on it now.

I'm almost 36 and get carded for alcohol probably 90% of the time. I got carded to see an R-rated movie about a year and a half ago.

29 about to turn 30 in march and I almost never get carded. I have never gotten carded with any consistency.

Actually now that I think about it, I get asked for my ID more when using my credit card than I do when buying alcohol or going to a bar.

Well that makes sense, because ID checking credit cards have nothing to do with age.

I almost never have been carded, even when I was in my late teens and early 20's. It was always a shock when someone did, even if they should have.

It's funny because when I was younger, everybody said I looked like I was in my mid-20's.
Then when I got to my mid-20's, I got fat and my face got rounder, so now everyone tells me I don't look like I'm in my 30's, haha.

I kind of just realized how I just assume they want my ID so I already have it out before they even ask for it.

Last time I was asked was a few years ago. I don't get checked for games.

Few months till I'm 28.

I was almost kicked out of the bar area at my little nieces' quince because security thought I was underage and everyone was joking about me being 18. I used to hate looking young. Now that I'm almost 30, I'm totally okay with it considering how some of my friends look now. I get carded quite a bit.

I've been carded twice in my 20s, and both times I was with a group of friends who were acting like children. The bouncer even said to me in one case, "it's more for your friends' benefit than ours."

Never got carded to begin with. Went into FSK 16 movies from the age of 11 on (went into Matrix, Romeo Must Die etc) and got beer and booze (16 and 18 respectively) with pretty much 14-16.

The only time I was checked, was when I said "man I never get checked" to a friend at the cashier. I was over 18 by then tho.

I had a beard around 15 already and were always the tallest in my class, so I guess that was a factor. I was once asked by an interviewer on the street and he asked how old I am "16" - "oh never mind, I thought you were 22".

I'm 29 and don't get carded, then again I only visit the same place for my alcoholic beverage needs.

Visited England last year to visit some family and got carded for party poppers in the ASDA store though.

Stopped getting carded when the employees all recognized me at the 2 liquor stores I frequent. And I only buy my swishers at the store I work at so that's not a problem. I'm 23 and could probably pass for a senior in high school.

I'm in my early 30s and I've gotten carded recently buying rated M games, but it's pretty much a guarantee I'll get carded for alcohol

Maybe it's that we're going to nicer restaurants, but my wife and I never get carded in Boston. Outside the city? Sure.

16-18, in Canada.

In the states, to this day, even as a 40 year old ass man. They are berserk about ID down there. I will have to have my passport (not drivers license) to get into bars in Boston at PAX for instance. It's annoying.

I don't do anything requiring the presenting of ID for age verification.
(Stuff like trade-ins where they need an ID for identify verification, but that's not something that "stops")

My state ID actually expired last December (I don't drive, so it's just a general ID).
I haven't gotten around to getting a new one (in a different state now, so a bit more of a process), so just using my passport card if I need to use identification.

Oh, I'm 32.

Whenever I don't shave I'm fine.
If I shave...it's almost embarrassing having to show your ID at 29. Not to mention the worry of them thinking it's fake seeing as how you're so over the age limits.

I turned 30 last summer and I get carded when buying alcohol at the grocery store I go to almost every week (I'm not sure they believe my ID is real), but not at the liquor store I stop by often. And I was carded when buying a ticket to see Django with some family.

It also happens in restaurants when ordering drinks. I don't mind. I look college aged even with stubble, and my gf has been mistaken for a student at the school where she works. Good genes, I guess.
