Where Winds Meet |OT| Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Online only and F2P. I want to like this. Might be worth checking out until NiOh 3 comes out. It's like the Descendants where they attract fans of the genre. You get a game, that's for sure. 😒

Pre-loading the game on my PC.

1. How much space should I reserve for the download?

To ensure a smooth installation, please select the appropriate package based on your needs:

- Standard Package: Reserve over 100 GB of space.

- Quick Package: Reserve over 60 GB of space.

- Ultimate Package(Not available at launch): Details will be provided later.

For optimal performance, we recommend installing the game on a Solid State Drive (SSD).
Currently, only the Standard and Minimal installations will be available on PC. The Ultimate version will not be available at the launch of the game (it is rumored to be 200 GB - maximum graphics will not be available at launch for PC.).
This does not include shader compilation, which will also put the buffer on your hard drive. And naturally, all this still wants to be on the SSD.

If the game plays well and looks awesome, I have no problem with that install size.

If it's an unoptimized mess, that's another story.

The more I hear about it, the more uncertain I am about whether I should install it at all. The impressions are not exactly positive.

Yeah, some of the impressions are certainly mixed. I am going to give it a shot since it's F2P and worst comes to worst I will uninstall.

BW - siting on 9.4 on TapTap in China
Wuchang - 5.9
Where Winds Meet - 7.4

Do Chinese players also have anti-Chinese developer bias?
Well, we must not forget that the Review is nothing more than the opinion of one person, and you do not necessarily agree with it. :messenger_sunglasses:
Looks promising
BW is a high bar, especially for f2p
Wuchang is a souls slop
Being in the middle looks reasonable

Steam says this is unlocking in about 40 minutes.

This game has had a ton of players in China. Went and spent the $15 for the goodie bag and to download this today.

You gotta pay just to preload the game on PS5? I mean....I know you get other stuff and that's cool, but you can't preload otherwise?

Must have been how I saw the game when I searched for it. It said $14.99 and I didn't see anything for preloading early unless I missed it. Here's what I got:

I've got it preloaded and it's sitting on a timer now.

Got it preloaded and gonna be givin it a fair shake soon as it goes live. I've been on board since the beginning so no reason not to try it.

I hear it's a mix of like . . .

dodge/parry like sekiro
pickup with R2 like ghost of yotei
see through wall vision like assassins creed
and some throwing wresting type stuff that looks a lil like crimson desert

You can adjust the parry window if it's too hard to hit.
Once you reach a boss, they unlock in the practice mode. So if you get stuck on a boss you can practice the fight.

The game's setting doesn't really appeal to me but I just downloaded it anyway since it's free. Going to give it a shot.

EDIT: The setting is actually nice so far, and the game looks great.

I've played until I got to roam around. I named my character Silksong Fresca cause that's all I could think of. I like the combat and the deflection stuff. The special arts are cool and lead to fast moving combos. I will play it for now. The first F2P I want to see/play more of. I never had my "Jade Empire" moment and I'm hoping this is it.

Combat is a lot of fun, but just like with every other F2P/Gacha-type game I've ever tried to play, the game overwhelms you with so much crap and so many systems right at the start of the game that it's tough to figure out what the hell is going on.

Or maybe I'm just old and confused.

Regardless, it's off-putting.
