Where Winds Meet |OT| Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

This game has potential but still just playing the beginning. Combat could be really dope.

Also don't forget there's a few twitch drops to claim, easy to link up (long as you logged in to steam on your desktop browser atleast).

Still early about an hour in but the game feels good. Liking the combat and the game to me feels like Guild Wars. Down to the NPCs that give you maps of the general area. Used a preset with minor alterations and I'm happy with my Swordmaster Girl. Will play more. You have attacks, learn special attacks, block, parry/counter.

Looking forward to making this a comfort game. It's very cozy.

Really enjoying it after a couple of hours. Fun combat, great environments, plenty of stuff to do and unlock, and the music is beautiful. Still a lot of stuff to get my head around and I sometimes feel a little overwhelmed with all the journal stuff and different quests and things.

So this is kind of crazy.

I was in a town and there's several NPC's that have a friendship level. They talk to you and you can actually respond with your own words. I typed 'die' on one of the NPC's in the town and he said something else and I said "you'll pay for this" and they instantly attacked me. I killed them all and got nothing though, no xp or loot. Pretty neat though.

And as cool as another feature is it's definitely CHINESE data collection lol to the fullest.

You can upload your voice for your character. Your face for your character. Etc.

Early on.....this game kicks ass. I'm still figuring out all the shit, but everything is really well done. Just went through this underground tunnel area and took on a minor boss. Was pretty easy. Maybe too easy. Going to wait a bit before I bump up the difficulty though.

Performance on PS5 Pro is really good so far.

Been playing for about 4 hours so far and I'm really digging it so far. Already getting sidetracked from the story by open world activities lol

Also Legend difficulty is not as daunting as it sounds (so far, at least).

Something about the plot puts me to sleep playing this lol. I think it's the music with the strumming instruments. Not to mention the chirping birds. I want the action to kick in. I'm a level 8, so it's still early on

Got to level 12 super quick and a cool boss battle. For the lengthy odd job quests, the fights are starting to pay off. There's so many menus of stuff I don't have a clue on what to focus on. My two pulls for paying the $15 got me nothing really.

Damn I want to like this game but its been a slow start lol. Im only about 90 minutes in though, I need to keep going maybe it'll grow on me.

What Im liking:
- Its absolutely gorgeous
- Combat seems like it could be really cool, but I just haven't gotten into many fights yet
- Runs great for me on PC

Disliking:
- Absolute UI clusterfuck of menus and menus and menus and tutorials and currencies and menus
- I feel like ive spent 30% of the game in some type of menu or tutorial and still have no clue what is going on or what all these systems do
- Dialogue is awful. I want to kill Ruby.

I really do want to get into it. I hope the story gets going. I need something to engage me, I have no clue whats going on Ive been following around a 5 year old girl for like an hour while she looks for a book or something. I dunno lol.

It feels like there's a journal within a journal and then multiple trees to unlock. I have a hard enough time trying to look at my gear. I have a quest to do magic spell I can't find so I have to ask the locals about it. The jumping across the water was a lot less infuriating than I thought it would be. They did a fantastic job on the sound and environments. I need to do more side quests to advance in the second part, which is cool that they push those. So far the side quests have been decent.

Stick with it for a while longer. That's so early. It's not as bad later on when things pick up. I also wanted to bash my head against a tree. You can speed up dialogue until the good stuff happens.

So I just played for about 2-3 hours, and so far my experience has been incredibly... weird?
I don't know how to explain it, but something feels really strange and off.

Menus are very strange, lot of informations with tutorials that sometimes seem to conflict between each others. At some point I found some kind of boss on the world map, and when the combat started I had a tutorial window telling me I need to progress through the story to access some character customization, WHILE the boss was still acting and moving toward me. Like, what? Super strange. I had several different situations like this.

Dialogues are absolutely terrible. I feel like a lot of stuff doesn't even make much sense. I don't really understand what's going on, I just go from one situation to another, following the quest objectives, with characters throwing some kind of random lines one after the other, with really bad voice acting, bad screenplay and strange situations.
Like I just stopped after the scene with the scamming merchant in the village. I didn't understand anything about this scene, it felt like some contexts or lines were missing, characters behaviors were really strange, it just felt like a lot of random things put together. Almost feels like if the whole scene was AI generated or something (I know it's not the case because we're not there yet with AI, but it gives that kind of vibe.) At the end of that scene, all the characters suddenly disappeared, I saw them literally despawn, and your character says "well... he ran way quickly", I don't know, that was such a strange scene.

Too much weird stuff going on, both in the UI / menus and in the "story". I'll keep playing tomorrow to see more but it's just a really really strange game so far.

Gameplay wise it seems okay-ish, although some of the controls are a bit strange too, and I feel like controller is mostly an after thought, maybe I should try it with mouse and keyboard next. You can't even walk with a controller, there's no kind of stick sensitivity / strenght movement, it's just 0 - 100% speed.

Also it's really weird to only let you customize the character AFTER playing with it in the prologue.

So I did the tutorial part and now I have some annoying girl following me around. The dialogue is atrocious. Still can't seem to find the settings menu. Whenever I press the options button on dual sense it opens a menu but I can't seem to navigate around it? I've pressed every button and stick but nope. Maybe the game was bugged, I haven't logged back in yet. It sucks how it assumes everyone wants to play the silly way without inverted camera controls.

It seems like people so far are not very happy with the game in general. The UI is obnoxious and the story is badly written. I am not sure I want to play this right now tbh

Just fyi, for whatever reason, the game is not available to download in Austria, so I had to creat a US PSN account to download it.

Same weird thing happened to India, Belgium and Netherlands as far as I know.

So if you're from one of these countries, just make yourself a US account and download it, there's no problem downloading the game with one account and playing it with another.

I want to use dual blades and the umbrella but I can't figure out how to equip it. One screen says I have the default fan and the other says it's not in my cart? I fought a boss using the fan. Do I have to actually buy/find a fan to use that or any of the other weapons? It could be that the screen I thought was the equipment screen was actually the "skin of the weapon" screen. Confusing af but I'm hoping to figure it out.

Pretty fun so far. Looks very Ghost of Yotei but with Chinese flavor. I'm not a huge fan of anime looks and voices but they could be worse. Has a more realistic look so it doesn't bother me much. Just Tai Chi'd a bear to death somehow. One throw, kind of made bears bitches. You can run directly up a tree too I just found out..

You have to have the martial arts for the weapon which you can get from sneaking into the location where the master is performing it (either you make yourself invisible or shrink down in size)
How? Where? When? I don't actually know yet :messenger_grinning_sweat:

That whole "skill thief" thing makes sense but I thought that was just for skills/abilities.

The opening does the unforgivable shite - it locks the look mode to "incorrect" (not inverted) - thankfully as soon as you get into the game (past the prologue bit) you can set it to the correct style. Absolutely fuming while staring at the ground trying to fight the tutorial boss.

This game is great on portal, the cloud streaming wasn't available last night but kicked it off from ps5 pro in bed and it's a good time killer. That was only about an hour playing in it.
