Where's the Platinum Games love?

Game is on the wrong Platform with the wrong audience , at least that is what I think.

Look at MGR that got alot of discussion here because prople who care about their games are on ps and xbox.

Exactly. I hate to bring the Bayonetta thing again but the not everyone who loved the first game will buy a console just for Bayonetta.

Maybe Nintendo wants to cultivate that audience? I dunno. It will take a few years though, and more than one game.

Right. Nintendo needs more games like this to make that audience shift their perception.

Sweet. So why don't you phone up sony and ask them if they'd be willing to publish the game instead?

There are many reasons. Some are rational, some are irrational. Lack of money and time sound like rational reasons.

Consoles are expensive you know, and the Wii-U is not the only one that has interesting exclusives, and on top of that it's really underpowered compared to the two others, while the difference in price doesn't reflect that.

I said "refuse to buy" not "can't afford to buy." Not having enough cash in your wallet is different than putting your fingers in your ears and shaking your head no.

I think their last few games have been a little lackluster.

I wasn't very into Anarchy Reigns, and despite what everyone on here said, I found Metal Gear Rising extremely disappointing. Wonderful 101 looks like it'll be fun, but I'm not 100% sure. Bayonetta 2 looks great, but I need to see more of it.

PG is great, but I think people ignore some of their limitations on here. They're not flawless.

Wonderful 101 is one of the games I'm looking forward the most on my WiiU, and while I'm not a fan of Bayonetta, I'm a fan of them actually trying to do games that feel more... gamey. And over the top.

I think there's quite a lot of PG love around here, anyway :P

I still have a lot of love for Platinum Games, it just happens their new games are on a console I have little interest in. I think there would be more love for Bayonetta 2 and Wonderful 101, if they were on different consoles or multi platform. I know it has been said many times already. I dont really fault PG or Nintendo funding the games, but since I have no desire to buy a WiiU, I dont want to talk much about the games. Bayonetta 2 does look pretty good though and it will be tough not playing it.

I actually thought this was a joke thread. In the case of these 2 particular games I guess being on wiiU isn't doing them any favors.

I've bought most of their games thus far, and enjoyed each to varying degrees. Still need to pick up Anarchy Reigns and MGR. I was a little mixed about Bayonetta 2 going to Wii U. I know it was said that was basically the only way we were getting the game due to Nintendo's help, so I happy in that way, but I'm not sure if I'll get a Wii U or not, it's very much up in the air. But now they have The Wonderful 101 coming out, too. If those remain exclusive, I do considering them a swaying influence on actually getting a Wii U.

Most people are ignoring their new games because it's on the Wii U, there's nothing more to it. Some members here have an intense hatred of Nintendo and nothing they do can change that.

The Wonderful 101 is a Nintendo IP and Bayo _might_ be a Nintendo IP now. P* was on stage with them for the developer directs. Did you see other 3rd parties up there? Did Sega advertise Bayo2 or said anything about it? It's like that Nintendo haven't bought the IP, yet. Somehow I think it's almost settled.

lol chill before you make these crazies lose their damn mind, they might even become Ninja Theory fans if that shit was true. lmao

People should get over this idea that Nintendo audiences aren't a good fit for Platinum titles. Isn't gameplay the star of a Platinum game? Nintendo are also all about gameplay. Platinum titles stick out as the most gamey things on the other consoles, but not on the Wii U.

The way I see it, I am super looking forward to both Platinum's efforts on Wii U but I'm not going to buy a Wii U for them. I can only afford to buy one console in the next year or so and I'm not going to pick the one with so few games.

I think it's more important that Nintendo keep making games like this to cultivate a fan base. Sure, they'll never convert everyone, but at least they will have an built a healthy audience.

Nintendo has the industry on lock down when it comes to salty haters. They should just focus on changing the perception of the open-minded who just want some more variety on Nintendo platforms.

There's no chance they won't remain exclusive. One, as you know, is funded by Nintendo, while the other is a Nintendo IP.

Platinum is just developing 2 games that Nintendo is publishing that were being highlighted at E3. That's all there was to it. There was no reason for any other third party to be there.

Of course this might be the case, but for example Sega develops 3 exclusive Sonic games for them.

I think that these deals with Sega (including Bayo2) is really just Nintendo being aggressive in trying to procure games for the Wii U in their own conservative way.

Regardless, I will be disappointed if the Wii U does not see more games like Bayo 2 and 'X' and SMT x FE - At least 2 per year.

Well I wasn't speaking of anyone in mind but my bad if you feel offended.

I don't feel offended, I just don't like reading people attacking/mocking each other for no reason. So far most of the people that have been posting in this thread have been presenting their arguments thoughtfully, yet we see some people that insist on calling other people "fanboys", "haters" or other stupid names. It's like you're trying to stir up fruitless arguments.

I want to know why none of these video game journalists have got hold of someone from Sega and/or Nintendo and asked them straight out whether we're going to see the first game ported as an eShop only title..?

I haven't played the first game so won't have a Scooby Doo what the fuck is going on lol. I'm holding off buying the 360 SKU just in case but it would be nice to know whether it's coming or not. It would be a no-brainer for Sega to do - cheap to port, cheap to bring to the eShop and an audience that will have interest in buying it due to Nintendo and Platinum revitalising the brand.

I don't think Nintendo was promoting Sonic, Sega was. Despite the exclusivity deal, Sega is still publishing Lost World in the US.
That's what I mean, Sega is very quiet about Bayo 2. Maybe I miss something but you should still be allowed to talk about your games, even when Nintendo is the publisher. Team Ninja and Ubisoft did.

Not saying this is true, but a possibility people should accept for the moment.

You're not making any sense lol. Are you talking about w101? That's a Nintendo funded title and will never be on any other console.

It's kinda pointless to explain that to me, since I'm not. I simply replied to the other person's statement and referenced the people who have been in an outrage since Bayo 2's announcement. (Who i called crazies)

I really don't even know why you're explaining this to me.

Edited for clarification.

Sega still owns the Bayonetta IP, but Nintendo owns the game itself. At least that's how I understand the copyright notice: "(c) 2013 Nintendo (c) SEGA".

I'm picking up The Wonderful 101 day 1 and Bayonetta 2 when it releases next year. Nintendo needs to get the first Bayonetta game on the Wii U so people who only had a Wii can catch up. I would double dip if there are some extras.

If Platinum consciously chose to partner up with Nintendo to realize their own respective visions then more power to them. It seems Nintendo is fully aware that certain developers have high prestige over others and that partnering up with them to create exclusive experiences is exactly the kind of thing they need to push their console to a certain demographic. The Wonderful 101 should really be the star of the show here while Bayonetta 2 is the icing on the cake.

Once the Wii U takes off this is the kind of partnership one can expect to extend onto multiple developers since it's all about the exclusive experiences. It's not just Platinum, we have Sega who are coming with what looks to be one of the best Sonic games to date as well as Atlus who are working with Intelligent Systems for a SMT x FE crossover. It's one of the better ways to reach out to what people perceive as a very insular base because it means Nintendo themselves can sanction those games to the same level of their own titles. Couple all of that with Nintendo's varied library there's a lot of cause to think that having Platinum's repertoire on here is in no shape it being on the "wrong" platform. Not only do I get the chance to support their decisions on working with what I consider a really underestimated and fun console, but also their games.

If Nintendo markets TW101 I can easily see it becoming appealing to kids and younger teens. It has that appealing draw of super heroes just being generally all-around appealing with an art style that should appeal to the younger crowd, but the themes are far from patronizing, is enjoyable by everyone and has the action that will end up legitimately surprising people and making people hardened. This kind of new IP is exactly what Nintendo could need at this point in time since I always figured that as an enterprise Nintendo should pride itself in being a home for a wide variety and library of games and themes that appeal to everyone, and TW101 occupies a super hero/super sentai genre of games that Nintendo hasn't seen anything like to this point. Putting the main hero on the Wii U E3 site as one of the silhuettes alongside other Nintendo IPs kind of surprised me in that regard. They ought to really do well with what is guaranteed to be a Nintendo IP at this point, and hopefully they'll even represent them in Smash.

I actually want to see more Platinum Originals and perhaps more multiplayer titles on the Wii U. Although personally, I'd double dip for a U version of Anarchy Reigns with possibly some exclusive characters (Cybrid Joe). I wonder how active would the Miiverse community be and how it could contribute to the growth of the franchises.

Somehow I think Wii U might be the platform for genres that will be nonexistence on PS4/Xbone like well Bayo or AR. Nintendo should really try to get more of those. I end up buying PS4 and Wii U anyway for variety.

It's really about cultivating an audience. Only Nintendo can do that. And they have to bring/develop more than just Bayo2. That's the start.

If they cultivate the audience, then the developer support will follow naturally, whether it is a Nintendo-OtherStudio collaboration or an independent third party project.

Beyond your basic Mario, Zelda and a few other games, Nintendo really only makes a few niche titles that certain gamers are interested in. I do all my other gaming on PS3 and PC. Some gamers will gladly gobble up all the Mario, Zelda, DK, Yoshi, Mario Party, Mario Strikers games that Kirby can suck up.

But there are others who buy a Nintendo system for what Nintendo brings but doesn't jump in the deep end, and they are still interested in the side offerings. Expanding these would be nice. And once you expand them, you will find more gamers outside the Nintendo fold coming along for the ride.

Bayo 2, 'X', SMT x FE are all great. But I really want a regular schedule of these games. At least two per year. They don't have to be expensive to make or have large production value.

If they don't do that, then Nintendo bringing over Bayonetta 2 has to be the most short sighted move they've ever made.

I'm not sure about that. To me, the PS3 fills the exact need you just described. At least for the PS360Wii generation. Nintendo support in this realm has been hit or miss.
