The need to put themselves in better position when it comes to publishers. The mistake of letting Sega handle the Ps3 port, and now this. . I guess when you are a small studio, you do what it takes to pay the bills. I will forgive all the previous mistakes though if Bayo 2 ends up on PC/PS4. As for PG not getting any love. I love Bayo 2 so much it hurts everytime I think about it being a Wii U exclusive. Every screenshot, every video, just adds to the pain.

It's the face-off between GAF's two strongest feelings:Oh dear!
This has been a really interesting day here on GAF with this and the "So under which scenarios could we see Bayonetta 2 go multiplatform?" thread.
Platinum does indeed get a lot of love around here. It is just some of it is expressed in other ways. Like port begging.
It's the face-off between GAF's two strongest feelings:
THE HATRED OF NINTENDO
VS.
THE LOVE OF PLATINUM GAMES
For those of us with good taste, it's just a marriage made in heaven.
Right now, I'm not interested in getting a Wii U. However, if Nintendo keeps supporting Platinum like this and Platinum continues releasing their games on the Wii U, I'm interested. I'm just reluctant at the moment, since the Wii U library isn't as attractive to me, so I'll have a lot of time to wait between now and 2014. Bayo 2 and W101 look sick as well, good job, P*.

LOL. Nintendo is helping to finance the game.
Doesn't change the fact that they are in this position because they chose to do business with Sega. Doing business with Sega is like taking a loan from a loan shark. They have screwed over consumer and developers alike. They do cutthroat work on games (Bayo 1 PS3 is not the only example of poor quality). They've ruined cherished IPs like golden axe, knights, sonic, etc. They are in the red year after year. Because sega owned the rights to the Bayo IP and killed, PG was in a position that required a buy out. Of course no sane corporation would acquire the Bayo IP through buy out, then not fund the publishing/and or development of said IP. That would make no sense whatsoever. So I stand by my original statement- PG needs to handle IP better in the future.
It's like complaining about how lonely you are when there's a girl right next to you asking you out on a date. And that girl is Bayonetta.I love how these people talk about how unbearable the pain of not being able to play Bayonetta is, as if there's nothing they can do about it.

You really don't understand anything about this whole situation, do you?
Oh yeah, and Vanquish is still at the mercy of Sega. Talk about a friggin' mess for PG.
Platinum games lost me when they decided to go corporate and take a handout from Nintendo and go WiiU.
Well, explain it to me, if you please.

Just to be clear: people do understand that the choice was Bayonetta 2 on Wii U or no Bayonetta 2 at all?
Platinum was founded and they had nothing.
Sega agreed to fund and publish some of their games. As is always the case when development is funded by a publisher, the publisher retains the rights to the IP.
And the second half of your post is just a salad of words you don't quite understand.
Believe me I do hate Nintendo from the bottom of my soul. But think about it : Bayo 2 not existing makes me just a little sad, but Bayo 2 existing and out of reach is some giant frustration.
Even if you don't want to drop ~$300, you could always just wait a few years for the price to drop quite a bit or just borrow a friend's system or something.
Isn't the answer to that obvious now?
The fact that people are complaining instead of thanking Nintendo for saving a game is utterly depressing.
You just said what I said.
They make awesome games but I do hope that in the future they explore more gameplay mechanics since Bayonetta, Vanquish, Metal Gear Rising all use slow motion as the 'special' mechanic, its like they can't come up with anything else.
It doesn't matter what publisher they went to. There isn't one in existence that would fully finance a new IP from an independent studio without getting the IP rights out of it.

Platinum can't handle IP better. The industry only works that way for devs with the money to largely self-fund to begin with.
Here we go round and round the goddamn mulberry bush.
I almost feel there should be certain things you must prove to be aware of before being allowed to post on GAF, such as:
Bayonetta 2 would not exist without Nintendo.
Yes it does matter. Sega was not financially solvent. They had a massive downsizing, and did not have the manpower/resource to fund a sequel. If Bayo 1 had a more financially stable publisher, Bayo 2 likely would have been multiplat. I'm not blaming PG, as this was as good a scenario as they could likely find at the time. But in the future, they need to position themselves better. It's easier said than done obviously.

I think most people know that, but on the Wii U, Bayonetta 2 is probably destined to not do very well.

Doesn't matter does it? Better to not do very well than to not exist.
Here I am really wanting to talk about Bayonetta 2 as a game but everywhere is just plagued with "Woe is me, I am an oppressed gamer because of this betrayal" bullshit.
Man
More and more I feel like the gaming industry would be better without gamers
It would collapse in two months but it would be a great two months.
Why not? The Wii U is a great systems with great games already on it and a lot of great games coming out, among which is Bayonetta 2.
I can see it doing very well. It'll get a lot of marketing, too, I believe (due to Nintendo).
Xbox one isnt the console gamers want but the one they deserve. Here I am really wanting to talk about Bayonetta 2 as a game but everywhere is just plagued with "Woe is me, I am an oppressed gamer because of this betrayal" bullshit.
