Which company disappoints their fans most often?

Screwed over non-US players during the H4 launch period and constantly lied with a straight face. We still don't have multiplayer filters, something Bungie gave us in 2007.

All in all it feels like a studio that doesn't enjoy what they're doing.
2007 was around the time Microsoft (and as such, their flagship) took a turn for the worst. Backwards Compatibility development halted, mappacks stopped becoming free and instead became mandatory, expansion packs became standalone games with price markups, and the general focus shifted from core gaming to casual consumption.

In the midst of all this, Bungie exchanged their Magnum Opus for independence.

If you're a true Halo fan, you've got to let it go...

Niiiiiiitendo wahooo!
Wii, Wii Region Locking, 3DS, 3DS Xl, 2DS, 3D handheld region locking, Wii U, Wii U Region locking, terrible online service, terrible eShop prices, lack of third party support, GameCube adapter stock, everything revolving around Amiibos(Low on stock, a strange release dates, the aluminium strip, the drop of quality after initial reveal), the impressively bad Skyward Sword, the meh Smash 4, The mess of the New 3DS systems, The same overused titles for each console so on and so on.

My gut says Ubisoft, but (as strange as this is going to sound) my head says Rockstar. Don't get me wrong, R* has made some of the greatest games of all and time and they're definitely my favorite developer. It's just the GTA community is so fanatical, they expect every new R* game to be the single greatest, most content-filled game ever made. Their expectations are astronomically high whenever R* announces something, and it's only gotten worse now that there are YouTubers hyping the hell out of everything.

There's a cycle, basically. R* announces something, community freaks the hell out and assumes it's gonna be perfect, it releases, the community automatically hates it while praising the previous thing they released (even though they hated it when it came out too). At first, I thought this just happened on gtaforums but I've noticed it occurs basically wherever there's a large group of GTA fans.

R* could make the perfect game, amazing in every single way with the largest amount of content ever put in a game but the community would still be disappointed with it.

Sega and Square

To the point I don't even consider myself a fan as they haven't brought any interesting games to me in years and they haven't made my excited either

UBoosoft

they delivered but then they couldn't delivered..
The division would be their last chance to redeem themselves. (Far Cry 4 is a bit of an exception among the games they released this game even though it's still Far cry 3.5)

Easily 343. In 4 years:

Halo Anniversary: Unplayable online co-op and barebones multiplayer as an add-on to Reach.

Halo 4: Campaign was easily the worst in the series. Multiplayer took everything people loved about the series and threw it away. Spartan Ops went nowhere. Limited Edition was meaningless after a month aside from the steelbook.

Master Chief Collection: Don't even know where to begin. Multiplayer was flat out broken and still barely works for many people. Campaign suffered from terrible bugs, framerate issues, achievements that didn't unlock, and broken co-op.

Halo Nightfall: Had the potential to be amazing and actually turned out pretty bad.

I haven't played Halo 5 so I can't really comment on it but although it removes some of the worst of Halo 4's additions, it seems to be moving even further away from traditional Halo.

Square-Enix and it's not even close. Seeing lots of people answering Ubisoft and while their triple-A might have had a bad year, SE has had a bad decade. Even their best game in years, FFXIV, had to be made twice before it was good.

Square Enix for slowly but surely completely destroying their legacy. I am so scared for Kingdom Hearts 3. Not even worried for FFXV as I know SE will fuck it up somehow.

Also, special shout out to Ubisoft for being the antithesis of a good developer. Their games lack any real imagination and are just reskins of each other. They push microtransactions in almost all of their AAA games and are going to completely destroy the gaming industry if they aren't stopped.

Square.

I don't disagree.

I'd say Nintendo, because, rather than lowering their standards and pleasing fans with designs that are hot at the time, they just go for "timeless classic" instead.
I was going to say Nintendo because instead of lowering their expectations, the fans expect a timeless classic every time.

SE, I kinda stopped paying attention to anything they do now. I used to be so hyped when they were announcing something.

Yup.

Squandered all the good will Dragon Quest 8 got in the west, constant countdown/timers for absolutely nothing, throwing away their awesomely varied IP list of the old days, and just in general not really knowing how to read their consumer base the last 10 years or so have made me go from super excited soon as I saw their logo, to "oh they made this... huh" if I notice at all.

Square Enix, far & away. They seemingly go out of their way to piss people off & do the opposite of what fans want.

Telltale's also getting there for me. I greatly enjoy most of their games but their apathy to putting some extra polish on their games is really disappointing.

I don't get the Ubisoft responses. I never do. They're one of the few AAA publisbers that actually do deliver for me.

But I'm gonna go with Sega.

How do they "deliver"? 2014 was an absolutely shocking year for them when looking at the quality of their AAA games.

- Watchdogs: An absolutely generic open world game with no real imagination, poor optimisation on all platforms as well as downgrading the game in both scope and graphics.

- Assassins Creed Unity: An absolutely generic open world game with no real imagination. Looks an absolute mess with all its glitches, terribly optimised on consoles at least and heaps of microtransactions.

- The Crew: An absolutely generic open world game with no real imagination. It looks like a hot mess, the car physics are embarrassing and it's full of microtransactions.

- Far Cry 4: An absolutely generic open world game with no real imagination. It's the best of a bad bunch. I'm playing it currently and although it's decent, it's essentially Far Cry 3.5. They haven't done anywhere near enough changes to justify it being an entirely new game. They might as well add it to another one of their yearly franchises.

They are shovelling out the same shit every single year. The Divison will be no different either.

1) Ubisoft
2) Square Enix
3) Capcom.... but I still love their games

As someone who has sworn off ever giving Capcom money after what they did with Legends 3, I am thrilled that simply ignoring their games is getting easier and easier with time as they continue to erode.

EDIT: Oops double post

Nintendo does things that constantly get under my skin: region lock, amiibo shortage, online store isn't up to par, n3ds, limited edition availability, etc. It's frustrating as well, because they also do things that I like from them like funding wonderful 101 and bayo2 and the fact that their DLC is in the right direction.

Aside from Nintendo, I'm giving it to 343i. Horrendous Halo 4 decisions and a broken MCC are bonkers, other developers I can avoid but Halo is my favorite series and I can't just let it go. At least the beta was really fun.

A tie between Sony and SE, for me personally.

SE because of the FF13 Saga and FF7 troll; Sony for the lackluster AAA output in 2013/2014.

Sony will probably turn it around in 2015, but SE not until 2016.

came to say square enix but then i stopped. it's pretty much the case if we're talking about the west, but how's the situation in japan?

  1. Capcom
  2. Square
  3. Sega

Child of Light
Valiant Hearts
Stick of Truth?

A part of me wants to put Square in the 1 spot though. This is based purely on the fact that they seem to have a certain level of contempt for their fan-base that Capcom and Sega do not seem to have, or at least not nearly as much.

But Capcom has definitely fucked me over far too many times for them not to take that top spot...

For software: Square Enix

In regards to Ubisoft, EA, etc. I feel like I expect to be disappointed by them so it's become the norm. I still have a small bit of hope for Square Enix.

For everything else: Nintendo

Underpowered hardware, limited stock(gamecube adapters, limited editions, amiibos, etc.), being a generation behind with the Nintendo Network, lack of eShop support, and pretty much everything else. Nintendo makes fantastic games but seems utterly incompetent beyond that.

I almost said Square Enix but then I remembered their Western output has been really good. Hitman Absolution, Just Cause 2, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Life is Strange, etc.

Capcom has probably been more consistently disappointing.

Problem here is communities are not the same ...
The community having the lowest expectations is by pure logic the biggest one
That's not fair.
