Which games that everyone else hates do you love??

Shadowrun. I had so much fun playing it on XBL especially since it came out during the summer drought. Such an awesome FPS.
 
Wii Play.

Would easily have paid much more to just get this game alone without the remote. I spent nearly as much time playing Wii Play as Twilight Princess at launch. Played it almost exclusively after finishing TP to get good enough to get platinum in all the games. I still go back to play Wii Tanks every now and again too. I've only done the tennis games in Wii Sports and have no desire to go back to do the rest, but I enjoyed almost every game in Wii Play, and it makes for a nice party game too with console newbies. I really don't understand all the hate it gets.

The titles says it all plus it's on the NPD charts which it shouldn't be part of.


Call of Juarez for me.

It's not as good as Mario Party, but it is pretty addictive and has some good minigames.
 
Gunvalkyrie as well (mentioned by someone previously). Great shooter once you figured out the rhythm to go mobius 50% of the time. Fantastic shooter when you figured it out 100% of the time.

This may not be the place since it's mostly hardcore gamers, but God Hand as well.

Agreed that was a fantastic game.

Carrying the bible and shooting people at the same time was awesome.

I have to do another playthru on hard.
 
Harvey Birdman Wii - Perfect relaxing/funny game. Really enjoyed it (High Voltage did it too).

Obscure: The Aftermath Wii - Fun co-op that controls fairly well for the most part. Pretty unique take on a cheesy slasher.

This. HOLY SHIT. This game was incredibly deep. Many weapons, spells, lots of strategy, and tons of fun. I kept playing for the achievements until the community disappeared, which is a shame.

Lots of people really don't like DQ2, for some reason. I still don't get it.

As for games... Grandia 3, Granstream Saga and Metroid Prime 2 come to mind immediately. I'd have to think harder about other stuff.

I'll never understand the hate this game gets. Yes, FMV sprites were old hat in 1994, much less when this game was released in 2004, but I'll be damned if it isn't fun to shoot terrorists in the balls with a freeze ray. :D

camineet will crucify me for this, but I love the Cruis'n games. I hope that there's a Wii compilation with arcade-perfect ports of USA, World and Exotica, I'd buy that in a heartbeat. :D
 
These oft repeating threads are always filled with a lot of games most people don't hate :lol We gamers must have inferiority complexes.
 
I don't know about "everyone else," but what the hell...

1. Speed Devils (DC) = played the hell out of it; loved it; enjoyed the cheesy, surreal feeling of the tracks; ODCM skewered it with a 3, then (somewhat) apologized for it in their last issue.

2. Sega GT (DC) = another Dreamcast racer/sim that did okay with reviewers, but was pretty quickly dismissed by the gaming masses as a cheap GT knock-off; I actually played the hell out of it more than I did any GT (save GT3).

3. Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (N64)= I just think there a lot of pussies out there, including whomever the fuck put it on the "top horrible games" list (or whatever the hell it was called) over on GameTrailers; it's a brutal game, but I absolutely loved it, even when I was lost and didn't know where the hell to go.
 
Oblivion- One of my favorite games ever
Final Fantasy X-2- A pretty good, fun RPG. Great battles too.
Final Fantasy XII- The best on PS2 for me.
Castlevania: Portrait Of Ruin - Better than Dawn Of Sorrow but not as good as OoE.
Castlevania: Curse Of Darkness- Awesome. Best 3D Castlevania
All the Halos - The best console FPSes.
Grand Theft Auto 4 - Amazing game
Mega Man 5 - Awesome
Mega Man 6 - Even more awesome
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest - Best Final Fantasy soundtrack bitches!
 
On GAF? FFXII without a fucking doubt.

Everywhere else? God Hand, I guess.
 
Dirge of Cerberus.

This game is really bad. But darn it if there weren't parts that brought back fun memories. The train graveyard for one. I want Dirge remade more than I want a remake of VII. And ditch the secret ending.

I agree with you, and IIRC there are a handful of like-minded folks here. Well, maybe not many who think it makes Into Dreams look like shit, but I remember discussing the game with several folks who thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay - especially once you get passed the forced cutscenes and hub world.

My only gripe is, how in the world did they manager to flub up the one gameplay mechanic that made the Wii perfect for a NiGHTS sequel (flying with the IR reticule). It's terrible, but it should have been smooth as butter, like 90% of Wii games that have some form of IR interaction with the screen.

That's actually a great pick. I had no idea there was so much hate for this title, but after reading threads here, elsewhere, and hearing the game discussed on a couple of podcasts (the latest being Ryan Scott's Geekbox Radio), it seems there are some vocal folks who just couldn't stand the damned thing.

I absolutely loved it back in the day. It was damn pretty compared to the other SNES titles I was playing, and I don't remember anything that really annoyed me about the gameplay, either.
 
Mystery Case Files: Millionheir.

Got it for X-mas along with Chrono Trigger. It is awesome (They are BOTH awesome).

Oh, and Kirby Air Ride for the Cube is one of the five best games of last-gen IMO.

Conan. Its merits as a brawler and slasher are as significant and numerous as its flaws. You just need to play more than the demo or the first few levels to realise this.
 
I seemed to enjoy and appreciate Ghosthunter on PS2 more than most.

I thought FF XII was absolutely brilliant.
 
Infinite Undiscovery

A lot of people seemed to really hate this game but I liked it better than most other JRPGs that have come out this generation.

Secret of Evermore

I didn't think this game was disliked, just obscure. I saw somebody else post it, so I'll back them up on the pick.
 
I'm probably the only other person on this board other than Aeana that has even heard of Brandish, let alone loves it to pieces.

I'd also include King's Field, but we actually have a little contingent of devoted fans here on GAF.

We never included Turok 2 in any of our lists. You must have us confused with another site. Or Screwattack perhaps? I liked Turok 2 a good bit, but the crazy length between save points coupled with the crash bugs that came with the first run of carts made me want to smash it to bits.
