Which GTA game did you spend the most time with?

Probably IV just because of online free-roam. Days and days of playtime there. The San Andreas, I've played through it at least 10 times, 100% it 3 times.

162 hours according to my stats on GTA 5 PS4.

never ever played a game this long. a close second is FF13 with 110 hours. (i know right? what the fuck was i thinking)

GTA V at about... 1200 or so. Mostly because it's my main go-to game.

SA and VC would be next, but like you said, other factors sort of shape that... Namely, between III-IV, I mostly just played CS, Wolfenstein and MMOs. So, by most SP game standards, 200 and 400 into VC and SA was a lot. I don't really play many games anymore, so I mostly just stick with V and that sort of inflates it. Maybe not for IV or II but if SA was new today it'd probably be the same.

GTA 4. It doesn't matter to me that it's very bare bones and back to basics compared to SA, to me it just had this great little virtual world that seemed so real and alive, I just loved being in it. Played through the story a stupid number of times. Characters that I thought were annoying and ridiculous the first time through (e.g. Roman and Brucie) totally grew on me. The world, the physics, it just never gets old for me. GTA 5 beats it in many ways, but I still go back to it every few months. I started with GTA 3 and I played the PS2 games a few times apiece, but I guess none of them really clicked with me, not the same way 4 did. (I've never played any of the Stories or CW.)

Does GTA V recapture the 'fun' of the GTA3/VC/SA era? I thought IV was godawful and felt way too serious.

Why is there no GTA or GTA2 or London in OP?

GTA Vice city for me. What an amazing game. Never played San Andreas nor GTA V yet.
IV was the shortest. Completed it with the achievement for doing it in under 3 hours and never went back to it. Was boring

San Andreas still has the best pacing in the series. Once you "beat" Los Santos and are plopped into the wilderness/San Fierro, you feel like you gotta keep playing. Once you're done with San Fierro, you get the best missions in the game at Las Venturas.

Vice City. The music and the setting kept me playing for longer then 3.

After that I grew tired of the sandbox formula and did little but the main story missions in the following games. Because of this I'm waiting until GTA5 is less than ÂŁ10 on Steam until I bother buying it, even if it takes many more years to get there.

San Andreas. Story, cheats, RPG-like elements, co op, races, girlfriends, gambling, etc... And great radio stations with 90's classics to tie everything together. So much fun stuff to do in Los Santos.

I guess Vice City on PS2, which is also my favorite one followed by GTA 5 which has been great too, unlike the disappointing GTA Saint Andreas and 4, at least for me

I spent most time with the 2 original 2D games, which you've foolishly left out of your list.

But of the 3D ones, probably San Andreas followed by Five, which will probably overtake them all when it releases on PC

GTA III by far. I still remember being in high school and going to Best Buy with a friend and just randomly picking it up cause we heard it was pretty good. Holy cow did we play hours and hours of it of months.

I played a ton of Vice City but after GTA III I always hit the wall a little quicker and get bored of just running around getting 5 stars blowing up helicopters and tanks.

GTA 3 and Vice City. completely sucked me in when I was in high school. San Andreas, IV, and V were just too big. I never finished San Andreas. Never played more than a few hours of 4...I am working on 5 now and I am enjoying it but I just cannot get the map down. I enjoyed 3 and vice city where I would know the map like the back of my hand and know where I was at all times.

San Andreas.

I loved just driving around in the areas between the cities. It gave the game some good exploration and a sense of scale.

GTA2 is king, by a landslide.

Then Vice City.

Umm am I allowed to pick GTA2? Cause I played the hell outta that game back in the day, far more than any of the 3D titles.

GTA 3 or Vice City, I played just to play in the city. Never had that with the other games where I wrapped up the story and put it away

Probably GTA: Vice City at the moment, because I played it through on both the PS2 and the Xbox (GTA Dual pack, remember that?). I would guess I spent something like 150 hours in that game, sometimes just doing "steal the tank" runs over, and over.

I keep going back to GTA Online, so that will eventually take the win. I've bought and played GTA V twice now, on the 360 and the PS4, so that adds to the hours spent.

GTA 3 and San Andreas for me.

I remember being completely blown away by the scale of GTA 3 back when I was in high school. Although I played a lot of Vice City, I was far more interested in the San Andreas setting and main character. Going the gym was my favorite part due to the progression.

Grand Theft Auto III, easily. Was 16 years old, had all the time in the world and no money. I think my friends and I knew every inch of that game.

Most likely GTA4, but San Andreas comes close if not first. Those two also happen to be my favorites in the series.

GTA5 had the potential to be the best in the series but the driving was a huge letdown for me, and the story wasn't much of a leap forward like I expected after 4 and RDR.

Vice City for sure. I just spent so much time doing random shit and I played through the story a few times. I enjoyed San Andreas the most though.

probably gta2 on dreamcast. vice city the runner up.

why does everybody act like the series started with GTA3? 1, 2, and the london expansion were all very good.

ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS FOLLOW THE DAMN TRAIN CJ

It's funny because I restarted San Andreas a few months back and got to that mission, failed it a few times and quit.

But yes, for me, San Andreas just because during that stage of my life I had nothing else to do but go to school in the day and play all night

San Andreas, and the amount of time I spent in that game can easily beat the combined total of all other GTA games easily. So good.
