Disc. In my opinion, physical games will always have the advantage.

During the lockdown, I've posted my brother 2 games to play when he's been stuck for something. Couldn't do that with a digital game.

Neither, both designs look like garbage.

Hopefully the Slim or Pro models in a few years looks better.

If I had to chose I'd go disk so that I can still have the ability to sell games.

Even though I rarely use my console disc drives, they do come in handy on occasion. Hopefully there is no difference in SSD size. That would make me reconsider.

Mods, could you fix that horrible typo in the poll? Thank you!

I'm really torn between the two! For one, I have 95% of my games purchased digitally, but then this has 4K Blu-ray for movies.

i really like the digital version's look better. The disc drives make it look like it has a bump. Also, it look that it will need a stand for both horizontally and vertically. Hopefully one comes included.

that thing must be expansive as f***, disc drive can only make this 50 USD/EUR cheaper the most and if that's needed... can only mean we're talking 499 449 or *puke* even 599 549

The one with the disc slot. It's a complete false economy to limit yourself in that way by completely removing the option of seeing a good deal on Amazon, good deal on ebay and being unable to buy it. I bought Horizon for £10 last week. With an all digital console i'd have no choice but to pay £16 and that seems dumb to me.

For those of you going all-digital, I think this product will interest you. It's convenient and hardly takes up any space. Really jives with our new ultra minimalistic lifestyles.

Disc 100%

I like to have a physical copy of games so I actually own them, they're almost always cheaper, and I'm a big movie lover and I've been waiting for PS5 to make the jump to 4K (because streaming image quality is and always will be utter wank).

Well, I don't know the price yet, and I would have to sell one of my organs to get in Brazil at launch with our outrageous dollar + general fuckery of console prices but I'll surely get a digital when I can.

Disc since im not a collector and every game for me is a one and done.

I'll definitely download all of my PS5 games, but I would want a disc drive for BC

Disk, I like to resell my bad game choices and it's really rare that I replay a PS First party game.
They are great but not at the point of replaying them, except last of us.

sounds to me like that the PS5 will be very expensive otherwise they wouldn't feel the need to launch with two SKUs.
Maybe $599 with drive and $499 for digital only edition.

I'd guess vice versa. $499 for the Blu-Ray version with 825gb sdd, and $599 for digital version with 1650gb sdd.

Also if/when Physical version, because I don't have internet for all digital future.

I voted for the disc version but I guess I'd be fine with either honestly. I buy all my games digitally buy I do have movies on disc that it would be nice to watch.

They're probably going to charge fucking $100 more for the version with the disc drive. It'll be at least $50 more I'm sure.

Maybe $499 and $549. I thought there was no way they'd dare go above $499, but this may be a way they think they can get away with it.

I think doing this was the right move, and Xbox missed an opportunity. The disc will add significantly to the price, or rarther, the discless version will be cheaper. So much so that XSX can only match disc version in price. Going PS5 discless will be a no-brainer for maaany people, I think especially here in Europe. I'd gladly shave off $50 on my XSX for no discdrive, while still enjoying all the power.

Always physical.

-cheaper
-bad purchases can be traded for even more savings
-I can get always my most anticipating games way before day 1
-(re)installs are quicker/ do not need huge downloads
-truly own the game/ no fear of digital stores going down and lose my games years in the future.

And what is the point of a digital console from Sony's perspective really. Save 5 dollars?

Leaning towards disc ver just for the ability to play HD Blu-Rays, but kinda on the fence. Will depend on the internal storage on launch versions mostly.

All digital. Physical media is archaic and needs to die.

Enjoy paying more I guess LOL

I feel the opposite. I'm only interested in the physical media version. I'm terrified of a digital only future where games can we delisted for censorship, licensing, or for other reasons.

Also, how else can I play these games 30 years later?

I think I'd wanna see the price difference first before making a decision. I'm one of the few that prefers physical over digital for consoles. But man, the growth for the disc tray looks really odd to me.

When I do eventually buy one in 2027 (only started playing my xbox360 during covid lockdown) I'll go digital. Its an ugly looking machine anyway but the physical version reminds me of the time I woke up with a swollen jaw from an abscess beneath a back tooth.

I'm pretty much all digital now. My plan is really just to buy certain games as collector's items way down the line when they become cheap.

I like the look of the PS5 without the drive so that has something to do with it. If the system itself is cheaper that means more money for games. So yeah all digital for me.

It'd be different if you didn't have to download the games regardless of whether you had the disc or not.

I think we're overdue for a new physical medium.
