Disc, so I can stick my big hard disc in it.

(I really need to go to bed)

I don't know. Depends on pricing.

Lately I"ve been moving more and more towards Digital as is. I noticed for the last three years I've been buying more and more digitally in terms of exclusives. I have The Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima pre-ordered through PSN. Just easier as a whole. But I can't entirely leave physical behind either considering I bought the Persona 5 Royal Collectors Edition in April.

I'd probably go physical...just depends on pricing. If the digital is significantly cheaper then maybe...but I can't see it being more than a 50 buck price difference and in that case, then I'll just go with the physical edition...best of both worlds.

Give me a reason to buy the Digital console. Like maybe a bigger HDD or something.

Why wouldnt you get the disc version ... I can see it now, I slice open the game box packaging on those handy collar fin things, then I toss the disc in and the near instantaneous load times give me just enough of a moment to slip my sunglasses on for a full night of gaming badassery. What's that, the sweet new load times dont apply to the bluray? Doesnt matter. My console has fins.
Nee adopters of the platform either coming from a different console, or nee gamers in general that can get some money off not getting the disc drive

I want to buy the disc version but all my games of late are digital. Depends on the price point I guess, assuming technical specs are identical to each other. If not, the more powerful console for sure regardless of price.

Disc.

Props to Sony for letting consumers decide right at launch, instead of just deciding for them like Apple.

sounds to me like that the PS5 will be very expensive otherwise they wouldn't feel the need to launch with two SKUs.
Maybe $599 with drive and $499 for digital only edition.
I personally hope so. Nice to have a premium option for those who want it.

Won't the digital only version make it quite difficult to be backwards compatible?

I'll go with the disc-based version.

Leaning towards digital as I haven't purchased a physical game in a long time. If I want to watch a physical 4k bluray movie, I still have my One X for that.

But if the digital only sku has a smaller hard drive, that might be the deal breaker as buying a bigger hdd for it would negate any money saved.

Disk version. Even though I may never use it, I don't want to limit my options. I'm still holding on to the pipe-dream that we may get physical BC with PS1, PS2 and maybe even PS3 at some point.

Why would it? I would imagine your PSN digital games will simply carry over if you've been buying them that way. If not then stick with the disc version.

We have no idea if they're doing more than PS4 in terms of BC...but I wouldn't count on it being more than PS4 just because Sony doesn't seem as interested or invested in BC as MS does.

Physical or nothing :)

Just love to see my game boxes. Also I like to sell them if I didn't like them...

EDIT : Also is the PS5 coming with all the accessories showed ? (Headphones, remote control...) I guess not but maybe ?

Digital. The games don't run straight from the disc anymore and need to be fully installed on the storage drives, so what's the point? If the DE has 1,6TB drive instead then it's more a no-brainer for me.

Disc version - for the simple reason that I have 50+ PS4 games on disc. What's the point of BC if I can't play all of those games anymore? Another plus of disc is that there's tons more more competition in the retail space, so you can always get new games cheaper than if you went for digital only and can only buy games from one single source: the PS store.

Disc - if digital is better, why is it not cheaper (the games)? If the game gets corrupted on HD and no longer on the net, then what? Furthermore; put disc in and play makes hard drive space management much easier, because even if you uninstall it, you can install it again pretty easily, but digital? Good luck downloading 50 gb AND updates AND pray for no error or internet issues.

Disc version. You get both options.

Unless digital version is like 200$ cheaper.

Much prefer the looks of digital version though. Modern design absolutely needs to be symmetrical. Don't know why a disc drive bulge has been given on just one side on disc version.

Depends on the price difference. I go digital myself but my buddies I play with usually don't so I borrow a game now and then. To give that up has to make sense monetarily.
This is a good point. I borrow games occasionally but that's literally the only time I ever use my PS4's disc drive these days.

And aesthetically it seems like they designed the PS5 around the digital version and then threw the disc drive on there as an afterthought. It totally fucks up the symmetry and looks like a big ol' tumor sticking off the side. I don't know if I could handle that.

So probably digital.

Disc version of course, why in the hell i would prefer paying the full price for digital games when i can pay 50-60 euros at launch and having the fucking disc to re-sell when i finish the game?

Digital is only good if you can't leave your home to go in a physical store or during heavy discount days...

If there's compatibility with PS1/PS2 games, I'm getting the disc version to play my library.

Besides, on Playstation Store digital games are way overpriced, retail is always cheaper.

All digital for me. I haven't had the need for an optical drive in more than a decade. So this is a welcome change.

Most likely digital, even if there isnt much price difference. I haven't bought physical media in like 10 years and the regular PS5 looks fugly.

Always discs as long as I have the option. There are games like REmake 3 that I want to complete in one sitting and then sell because they aren't worth ÂŁ50.

Imagine only wanting the RE3 campaign and having to pay ÂŁ50 for a 5 hour game, or wait months for it to drop.

Probably digital depending on price difference.

I don't really buy physical games anymore but there will need to be more than a ÂŁ50/$50 difference in price for me to give away my option to buy/borrow a disc at some point over the generation.

I think the back compat decision will be major for those and what they chose. If you were mainly disc this gen you would probably won't to go disc for pS5. Where already fully digital players have no issue going the digital SKU. I wonder if they will sell a USB drive.
