Not sure if this needs its own thread but an update to the situation.

BBC: Yemen conflict: US 'could be implicated in war crimes'
Reuters: Exclusive: As Saudis bombed Yemen, U.S. worried about legal blowback (more detailed article)

It essentially boils down to co-belligerence (and there is no conclusion yet if the U.S is a co-belligerent) under international law, government lawyers to the U.S advised regarding precedent of a ruling (as per reuters):

And the morons in congress who just approved lawsuits against countries for unprovoked attacks (aka civil suits for the 9/11 attacks) just enabled this. That bill will be used by nations, like Yemen, to sue the United States for civil damages.

You got British and US officers in the Saudi coalition war rooms and there are US AWACS and SIGINT warships in Yemen, they're not just selling the Saudis weapons.

The US and UK could easily pressure the Saudis to stop this mess, but part of me still wants to see the Saudis pathetic excuse of an army get its head rubbed in the sands by barefoot Yemeni warriors.

they're not even our most deplorable ally in the greater middle east

that unsavory title belongs to pakistan
Pakistan isn't launching missiles and airstrikes on neighbouring countries or have religious police or have extreme conservative wahabbism at the core of everything. There are honour killings, child sexual abuse, and discrimination of minorities. But it's not equivalent or worse than KSA. Afghanistan might be a better pick if you just want another muslim country where it's all terrible.

Good then. They deserved that sue. Hope that the lawsuits result will be able to ease the pain of Yemen's people.
