I don't actually think Hitler's face is that recognizable. His mustache certainly is, but not the whole face.

Kevin Spacey?

Hitler > Mao > Lenin.

Everyone knows Che, but not all of them who's it's him, so i don't think it counts.

lol @americacentric answers like lincoln \ MJ. If you poll even, i don't know, Europe - about who's in that photo, you'd get no more than 5%.

Its kinda sad to see that most of the recognizable people are men but well.

I believe it is George Washington (because of the dollar)

First page was a hard taken fail. It was a great question. Who has the most recognizable face. Then we posted pictures of hitler. Howbout Steve erkal

People saying Mickey Mouse:

Donald Duck is bigger pretty much everywhere except the US. Scrooge and Daisy are huge, too. the Duckverse >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mickey.

What's the metric for this?

Because any other answer than Homer Simpson or Mickey Mouse is objectively wrong.

You could show Home Simpsons picture to pretty much anyone in the world (within reason) and any age as young as 4 and they'd know who he is.

What about Mao or some shit. Don't think non-American countries know American presidents that much, just the flag. Mao is probably covered in a lot of the countries that don't know Abe.

Also, Colonel Sanders.

Female is definitely Marilyn Monroe. (I don't think people outside of the west care about the English Queen)
Male is Hitler or Che or Michael Jackson.

Che, Hitler, Dalai Lama, Queen, the pope before the last one, Ghandi, DiCaprio, Mao, Brangelina, Hawking, Downey Jr, Lang Lang, Cruise, Einstein

Ha.

Commonwealth baby, commonwealth. She's the Queen.

And the royals are just a eternal gossip provider.

You guys know Chinese have no fucking idea who Homer Simpson is right? that automatically take out 1/3 of the world population.

You can't even find bootleg Simpsons merchandise in China.

This is just me, but I think a lot of the answers in this thread are limited to the western world. A more interesting question to ask might be what are the most recognizable faces in places like Africa and Asia, where most of the world's population actually lives.

To be fair, India and China for example are still fairly isolated in terms of spread. Stuff gets produced for them, but they don't reach many markets.

Western culture dominates the world.

First person that came to mind was Michael Jackson. Probably his lighter face is more popular despite the success of thriller, off the wall etc..

Pretty sure Jackson would even be known in non-western nations

Obama probably up there

Capitalism. Rules the world.
Most Commonwealth countries have the Queen on their money. She's certainly more globally recognized than anybody from one country.

Fictional characters would probably be recognized world wide more than any real person.

Yeah, I'm going to agree with Michael Jackson. People can recognise him during every stage of his career. He had global appeal and many poorer nations adored him.

Also, going to throw Lionel Messi into the hat.

i

When his career is over, he'll be hailed at the 'Greatest Footballer of All Time'. Depending who you ask he has been the top of his game, in the best team, in the most popular sport on the globe. (Some may argue Ronaldo is as good or better but I don't think Cristiano, as a European, has as much appeal globally.) With European football matches having viewers in the hundreds of millions globally, Messi is probably the most well known footballer in the world and maybe of all time now. Like many of the best who have come before him he has appeal in South America; footballing greats are known to people in the third world and are idolised as a way of escaping poverty and as people who lift their nation into the global spotlight by performing on the world's stage at tournaments like the World Cup and the Champions League. (See Afghan child below who created a Messi shirt from a plastic bag)

My grandmother knows George Clooney. She's a 90 year old portuguese lady. He is the "very good looking guy from the cafe ads". So I think there's a high chance he is the most recognizable person in the world.

No idea who this is. Was it a joke?

You don't know Jake Sully?

No way. If there's a thing Ronaldo has over Messi is that he is more recognizable
