Who has the most recognized face in the world?

I don't actually think Hitler's face is that recognizable. His mustache certainly is, but not the whole face.

Finally, I understand how Superman can pull a fast one on everyone just by wearing a suit and glasses.

Capitalism. Rules the world.

Washington and Franklin?

I have some formal education on US history, I'm from the UK and our culture's very similar to yours, but I'd still struggle to identify many presidents based on photo alone.

Not even close imo.

Thats a load of shit, oprah is pretty freaking well known around the world. One of very few americans that can be said about (the other being Micheal Jackson.

Nah he's right oprah is a nobody outside the US
If you want a most recognized woman in the world you have to look at pop stars or actresses

Micheal Jackson
The Queen
Mohammed Ali
Winston Churchill
Hitler
Colonel Sanders

Not a nobody, but not remotely huge in the UK at least. Nowhere near Jackson, Ali or Sanders, that's for sure.

No one knows who she is in France. Actress or singer much more likely to be famous. And tons of American well known around the world , obviously. Like the world's movie industry is Hollywood dude.

Sorry but you show her face to a random person in France and people will just be confused.
American actors/musicians are way more famous than her worldwide.

For male, I think it's either Michael Jackson or Hitler. The later since he is an iconic historical figure probably more recognizable not only in present time but also in the future as well.

For female, I don't know, maybe Maria Ozawa.

What?? LOL! She's absolutely nobody in so many countries it's not even funny.

A list of Americans off the top of my head that are DEFINITELY more famous than Oprah in most countries:

- Michael Jackson
- President Obama
- Tom Cruise
- Brad Pitt
- Bill Clinton
- Steve Jobs
- Bill Gates

Just to name a few. Really, She's not famous at all except maybe in a couple other countries I'd say.

Anyway, as for this thread topic, I'd say maybe...

- Hitler
- Queen Elizabeth II
- Michael Jackson
- Gandhi
- Bush Jr. and President Obama

Oh and most older US presidents that show on dollar bills might be somewhat recognizable as in "oh yeah that's one of the presidents in one of those dollar bills right?" but getting the name? Not quite, lol.

Already mentioned but:

Men:
Jesus (Cesare Borgia) is probably the most recognisable
Hitler: It would be pretty hard to find someone in most parts of the world who does not know not know Hitler by appearance (even if it is mostly stache based - Stalin to a lesser degree).
Che has one of the most recognisable shots, though I'm pretty sure 99% of people going around with it have no idea of who he is or what he stood for.
Michael Jackson has the iconic late career look and has the massive pop appeal around the world.
Einstein is more the template for "mad scientist" than being recognisable as a single person.

Women:
Queen Elizabeth II - the commonwealth reaches far and wide, plus she's been around for most people's lives as Queen.
Marilyn Monroe (Audrey Hepburn to a lesser extend too) has so many famous shots and people emulating her looks, but this is probably a majorly western thing.
Mother Theresa if we allowed to include clothing, because her with the Habit is pretty well known (jumping back to male, same thing Gandhi and the circular spectacles).

Overall, Hitler('s mustache).

For female it has to be Monroe.
Queen Elizabeth II's face is not that recognizable outside of western world, most people would just think it's a random rich British woman that might or might not be the queen

People mentioning old-ass US presidents or TV personalities really need to read up on something called "the world". It's that thing that includes but is not solely comprised of the USA.

Oprah Winfrey is definitely not know to anyone in Europe outside of people who regularly use the internet and post on forums like these.
My guess is that even John Cena's face is more well known around the world than her's.

If you want a face that's known all around the world you best pick someone like Mickey Mouse, Super Mario, Hitler, Obama or Che Guevara.

I think it's probably Hitler.

Einstein, Gandhi, Obama, and some others (Mao?) may be up there too. Amongst fictional characters, Mario, Mickey Mouse, Ronald, and Pikachu?

For people saying Queen Elizabeth, no way is she even close to the most recognised, considering limited recognition in India, China, and several Latin American countries - I'd say Hillary Clinton alone is more well known than her. I'm from India, and many people know that England has a queen (in urban areas at least), but you would be surprised at how little people care to go and look up who she actually is.

I find it pretty obvious in that image as well. His eyes, and nose are really distinct, and if you did the same to a picture from a different angle, his hair would be as well. Now if you go back a bit before he shaped his style, I could agree with you more:

But then you need to apply that same logic to any other "famous face" out there.

I was pretty amazed, but when you think about it people listen to the music of their country more than anything else. We tend to overestimate our cultural exports.

I'm sure we do overestimate them. Still, movies from the US made up something like 60% of the European market last year, and movies from the US are frequently in the top ten box office in China.

Someone asked about female faces?

Even if they couldn't put a name to Angelina's face, it's undeniably a very recognizable and memorable face

Right, but when it comes to music, people prefer to hear stuff in their own tongue and cultural milieu. Music is rarely translated/localized (unless they do a cover or something). Movies I can understand.
