I might have considered getting one early on if it weren't for the disk-account tying and lack of any form of backwards-compatibility. I don't want to have to jump through hoops just to play a game that I bought at a friend's place. At a LAN, having to download accounts to each Xbox is just a massive pain in the ass waiting to happen.
I would be way more fine with the whole account-binding thing if it was only enforced once you opted to install it to hard drive to be able to play without a disk, allowing you play the game prior without issue. Installing to disk could have prompted a warning saying that proceeding would bind the game to your account.
However, the way things are now, with the prospect of being forced to tie a game to my account? My indifferent leaning toward possibly getting one for the next Halo games has been turned into a lost sale. I hope Microsoft is punished hard because of this. Sure, I accept a similar system with Steam, but I also wouldn't take PC games around to a friend's place to play on his computer. If I were going to play PC games out of the house, they would either be his, or my computer would be there as part of a LAN. Being able to easily take a game to a friend's place was one of the last benefits of having a console left to me.
