Why are you buying an XB1?

My console tends to be a shared purchase with the SO and she and her friends love the party games. In fact, I think in my household the Wii STILL gets more use than either the 360 or the PS3. We picked up a WiiU earlier this year and she is really enjoying it but she demanded we get the Xbox 1 because of the Fitness program. I know many gamers snort at the fitness games but WiiFit, Zumba Fitness have a HUGE following.

A next generation fitness game with a free year of Insanity and PX90? Yeah...she pretty much is MS' target audience and they nailed it.

Games

Xbox Live (Though I wouldn't mind them copying Instant Game collection)

I also want more than games - Xbox seems to also focus on the entertainment side + Xbox fitness could be useful

Trying Kinect 2 (voice functions)

Ecosystem.

If it turns out wrong I can always trade it in for a PS4

I am getting both but out of my 8 or so close gaming friends they are all getting the X1 and right now I am the only one of the group getting a PS4. It is important to note that we all met on the original Xbox playing Halo 2 so we just really have always migrated to the Xbox each generation. They all own a PS3 but we simply do not play it, we never even mention getting a game together on the PS3.

I can say that all of them are drooling over Titanfall and we play Battlefield together and will be playing that a ton come launch on the X1.

Also 4 of my friends have kids and those kids play Minecraft and Kinect games... Their kids drive the choice as well. We might not want to admit it here but kids now think Minecraft and Xbox and they do enjoy jumping around in front of a tv and having it mirror them.

So for me it comes down to friends and the games I enjoy and my large investment in all things Xbox over the last 10+ years. With that being said I also support the crap out of Sony and will be there at midnight on the 15th to pick up my first next gen system.

I still find it annoying that some people need an explanation about why other people have different opinion/preferences/tastes.

I was going to get both consoles, but I cancelled my PS4 preoder because there's no interesting game at launch, so I will wait at least for an interesting game to get it because, I don't like to buy consoles and browse its UI, download demos, and few things more, so I can wait a few months.

Why am I going to get XB1 at launch? well, as a gamer I find it easy, for its available games at launch (at least for that moment). I can't wait to play Dead Rising 3, it's my most anticipated game for this fall, and I'm also interested in Ryse, Forza, Crimson Dragon and Killer Insctict. I'm also pumped about its new OS, its new features, the new kinect, the new Live system, among other things.

I've been always a multiplatform gamer, so I don't get the point in bashing other systems, Wii, PS3, Wii U, XB1, and so on, I find that attitude very childish, and since some months ago my ignore list has been filled with lot of annoying people who are always posting the same bashing/mocking comments, and I use to visit gaf to get information about gaming, not to argue with kids like in a kindergarten

to the op, why is PS4 a better fit for you? you will find the answer you're looking for in this thread in yours.

Xbox was my most played system. 360 was my most played system. X1 will be my most played system going by the trend. Nothing against the other consoles, but MS just keeps me hooked in.

Primarily because the X1 has the more interesting games for me at launch. I'm sorry but Killzone will never be a reason I buy a new console. Also KI has gone from a joke at E3 to something that I want to play again. I think it's going to be one of the big highlights of both console launches.

DR3 was always on my must have list and Sony not releasing back inFAMOUS: Second Son until next year made my mind up for me. I'll be getting a PS4 next year at some point probably late summer.

For me stuff like Kinect integration is a huge draw. I also like that MS doesn't treat media as a dirty word, I always get the feeling that Sony sort of underplays those features on their system I know it keeps the hardcore seeing it as a pure gaming system but I want something more than that for now. This thing will be sitting in the living room being used by me and my SO I want something that is multi use.

Also Xbox fitness has caught my eye my SO and me have used and really like the fitness programs on the 360 and seeing the new stuff MS are planning on that front is exciting.

So it's a mix of the games and the other uses as to why I'm getting one.

I'm planning on getting one when or shortly after it launches. I think there are many reasons for this but I will try to name the most important ones here:

1. The games

While ps4 and wii u certainly has good games coming out, they don't have the same sense of greatness and innovation that should come with a new generation.
Forza 5 are trying to redefine how AI are used and made in games. Killer instinct wants to change fighters work and create a competitive environment that can work for years to come. Titanfall by all means looks to bring a great new take on vertical gameplay to the table Project spark wants everyone to be a game designer and is providing the tools to do so.

And that's all just the launch.

2. The features

Skype is great to have on the big screen, and the possibilities for apps have some cool possibilities. One of the "non-game" things I look forward to the most is Xbox fitness. For me this is probably one of the killer apps for Xbox and Kinect. I think it will be a great way to work out for people like me would can't imagine working out in the vicinity of other people.

3. TV

Microsoft is getting into original programming and I'm curious to see where it is going to go.

4. Lack of competition
As I said before the ps4 and Wii u is probably going to have alright games but it is really not enough. Ps4 is a naughty dogs box and wii u is a Mario box and that might be enough for some but not for me.

Same as I did with this generation, I will eventually own both; I love gaming, period. My reasons for getting the Xbox One:

1. Exclusives at launch: Forza, DR3, KI and Ryse all look amazing.

2. Xbox Live... there's just something about it that the others tried but could not catch up with this generation and, it can only get better.

3. The Media functionality sounds freaking awesome; they fit my expectations.

4. I also like the UI and the whole integration with Kinect.

5. Tried the controller a couple times already, and it felt great in my hands... and that rumble... so awesome.

6. Ryse ( I played it at comicon & at a recent xbox event), to me, it might not be game of the year, but I've tried it twice--different builds, and everytime as I was playing the demo, I looked at the screen in awe--game is Beautiful! and playing it with the new controller gave me that feeling that I was really before the first steps, of Next Gen!!

7. Halo... I make no excuses for my love for Halo; and I cannot wait to see what 343i is up to this time.

8. Starting with the big green original Xbox ( so many good memories) to the evolution of the X360, I have no major complaints about the brand, instead, A LOT of good times to remember. I have no reason to think MS will purposely ruin what took them so long to build.

Because it's my damned money and I'll do as I please!

On the real I've wanted a KI sequel ever since I worked at an arcade, that and Forza 5 is so damned beautiful that I'm hooked. That said if the PS4 had a racer that wasn't multi-platform I would have waited on the Xbox One.

Bring on Forza!!!!!!

4. Lack of competition

Although for now I'm only going with PS4 at launch there are Microsoft exclusives I want to play. There won't likely be tons that interest me but gaming is my only true hobby and it's worth it even if only for a handful of games.

Hopefully I can pick one up around Christmas.

Just to have it, and play whatever exclusives it's going to get. But I'm not getting it anytime soon, maybe in a couple of years.

The exclusive games during the launch window are more appealing to me and none of the multi-platform titles pique my interest either. Destiny could well be the first multi-platform game I buy and if it's very noticeably better on the PS4, I'll buy Sony's console then, otherwise I'll wait for The Order to drop.

The longer you own a console, the more you get out of it. I don't really understand those people who have bought a PS3 or 360 this last year for the first time. Sure, there's a backlog of games on them, but to me I get more enjoyment from games when they are somewhat fresher and I can talk about them.

Sure, I could wait 6-12 months to buy a PS4 or 360 but ultimately I know I'll want both (for different reasons) and having them straight away lets me get the most out of them.

I'm not a big TV person, but the ease of loading up personal profiles and launching whatever content with minimal faff is a really neat part of the XBone.

Having it there and ready call up anything on the big screen could be great if they can pull off their NUI.

I have to say thats a very nice feature indeed.

No offense. I don't usually do this, but your post sounds like a PR statement. That last part, especially, is just straight up laughable. But to each their own as they say.

Yes really. We had Kameo, PGR3, PGR4, Gears of War (1,2,3),Forza (2,3,4,Horizon), Halo (3,ODST,Reach,4,Wars), Alan Wake, Mass Effect (was a MS + Xbox property before EA bought Bioware), Fable 2, Viva Piñata (1,2), Banjo Kazooie N&B, Crackdown, Dead or Alive 4 and Ninja Gaiden 2 (before Team Ninja went multiplatform), Minecraft,Shadow Complex, Geometry Wars, State of Decay, Toy Soldiers (1,2), Comic Jumper, Splosion Man (1,Ms), Hydro Thunder Hurricane, Ilomilo etc etc. Those are all great games published by Microsoft for the 360...I'm buying an Xbox One based on their track record which is actually pretty good.

I'm not debating whether those were good/great games. I'm talking about direct comparisons to the PS3 overall library, which at least review wise performed well in terms of exclusives across every single genre including more underrepresented ones (I.E. Heavy Rain).

I can completely understand someone buying a console because all their friends are or if there is one exclusive game they have to have. I mean I literally bought a Wii for Brawl and ended up getting other games like SMG. My brother and I got a 360 and I was willing to hold off from a PS3 until later. I was for getting an Xbox 360 because Gears of War was the game that made me say, "ok I need to go next gen now".

What I don't really believe is people choosing an Xbox One because they really it will deliver the better exclusives for them over a the entire life and then use the Xbox 360 library as an example compared to the PS3.
Just be honest and say, "I wasn't familiar with with the PS3 library of games, but I'm familiar with games that I've enjoyed on the Xbox 360 and I'm looking forward to those ones on the Xbox One". But then again who knows what Microsoft Studio's are working on.

You mention track record btw. I hope they don't follow their track record in terms of late 1st party games in the consoles life cycle.

Better online, my favorite exclusives, more interesting features and the mulitmedia. I needed more than just a gaming machine. But eventually I will own both. The XB1 just fit my needs better.
This basically. I have no confidence in Sony to make a good OS, and that is really important for a living room device that is the hub for all my entertainment. Games are still central, but it's about balancing preferences.

Not overly bothered about any of the exclusives on either system, but PS4 only have Driveclub for me. XB1 has D4, Quantum Break, Halo and Titanfall.

I owned all three last gen, have a Wii U and have day one pre-orders for XB1 and PS4.

Because I gotta play them all.

Xbox One has an amazing first year line up ahead of us
Killer Instinct
Dead Rising 3
Forza 5

Next year
Fantasia (Harmonix man)
Sunset overdrive
Titanfall

Someday
Halo 5

This silly news over the 720 stuff is silly, just buy both consoles and have the best of both worlds.

edit: Forgot about the fitness thing. Shit is going to legit help me out.

BCuz I liek green

But seriously I am fulfilling the gamer stereotype of being fat and the fitness program stuff is just what I need and of course exclusives controller and online and no number is going to keep me from having fun

Dude, shut up about other people's preferences. Your opinion is not fact and as much as that bothers you, get the fuck over.

I was thinking about getting one, until today.

When CBOAT mentioned bigger problems beyond just lower resolution on multiplat games.

Its just doesn't seem wise for me to put down $500+tax. I'll probably buy it later when its safe.

It does sound like a PR statement. Most of it was cringeworthy. There may be a career for him if he doesn't have one yet =p

Exclusives, probably best UI, loads of content in including exclusive high budget series, what I consider the perfect controller, dedicated servers galore, interesting potential with a large investment in cloud, I'm a sucker for Halo, and 1080p makes my eyes water.

the exclusives. bottom line.

also curious on what kinect 2.0 and the OS can provide

I'm honestly a little worried about the skeletons in the closet now, but to answer the thread:

- I prefer MS exclusives (Halo, Gears, Forza)
- Much stronger launch exclusives
- I prefer MS OS and Online infrastructure
- I liked the 360 controller a lot, but it is to be determined which controller i prefer this coming gen.
- Kinect seems interesting from a multimedia perspective

Killer Instinct.

Titanfall looks appealing but it's sure to look even better on PS4 down the line. I am not interested in Forza and Halo.

At this point, it's really just KI and the "perk" of playing Titanfall early.

Edit: Oh, and I'll pick up Ryse if it gets great reviews. Fingers crossed!

I personally found most of the PS3 exclusives that appealed to me and I played, overrated when I eventually got one. Bar Yakuza 3/Uncharted 2/Heavy Rain/TLoU, I genuinely preferred the exclusives from Microsoft.

Which ones? For me the standout has always been the Gears and Mass Effect series (which I now own the collection for the PS3). For racing, I won't play GT5 and if I still had an Xbox 360 I wouldn't played Forza 3 simply because I have to decide whether I'd want to invest +$150 in a racing wheel.

I'll be getting both consoles within the first 6 months of launch but I'm getting the Xbox One first for a few reasons:

Better launch titles for my taste (Forza, Dead Rising, Crimson Dragon, Killer Instinct)
Cool outside of gaming features
Already have Xbox Live
Friends are going to be there

Really looking forward to both consoles though! Going to be a fun couple months.

I genuinely preferred the exclusives from Microsoft.

Same. And looking at the gen as a whole between 360 and PS3 it wasn't even close for me to be honest. Blasphemy right?

The Order and inFamous really have me excited for PS4 but the people acting like MS doesn't deliver fantastic exclusives have their heads in the sand.

Not getting one at launch but I will be getting one before the PS4. Initially I was going for the ps4 but my disappointment with the vita led me to change my mind and hold off on that for a least 4 or 5 years. Exclusives and the gaming experience on the 360 have been more rewarding to me and I feel more confidence and trust in the xb1 as a product. I kind of feel like sony's been full of hot air.

Games, games, games.

I love the new direction Sony has taken with the PS4 but the games just aren't there for launch.

I'm getting 5 games on the Xbox One that are exclusive to the One and they all look pretty damn good to me (Ryse, CD, KI, DR3, F5). They could all tun out to be shit but there is a nice variety of games at least.

Also, I like Kinect. It's not groundbreaking or anything but the workout stuff is cool and I enjoy the Kinect Sports and Dance Central type stuff as well.

I was dissappointed like most about the first party offerings of the 360 the last couple years but it is not fair to act as if xbox fans are crazy for preferring the Xbox exclusives to the ps3 exclusives overall. In quantity the ps3 wins overall but in quality I know many that would give the 360 the lead hands down. It's all preference. Overall this generation was better for me with the 360 but theses past couple years my ps3 took a beating.

I'm actually looking forward to kinect. I wouldn't get it if it wasn't included since I wouldn't expect much support for it. Hopefully it'll have some good usage.
