So GAF, this is a topic I've wanted to discuss for a while now, as it's something that I find quite interesting & slightly irking. But as the title states, I've never for the life of me understood people who don't have blinds/curtains in their windows or people who never close them no matter what time of day it is.
For some background info, I'm black & have lived in Georgia for the majority of my life, but no matter what state I lived in growing up, we always had blinds in our windows. As I grew up in my teenage years, I began to see it was often my white friends who tended to leave their windows exposed more than any other race, so I'm not sure if it's a cultural thing.
All I know is that if you grew up in a less than desirable environment or the ghetto like my parents did as kids or like I had to for a brief period of time, the idea of keeping your windows exposed at night is kinda crazy. To me, it's just always seemed like you're making yourself an easy or easier target for robbery/stalking or just plain nosy people in general. I'm talking about this:
I'm I just being silly about this? I was watching a streamer on YouTube a few months ago & he was using Playstation VR with headphones on at like 11:30 at night with the windows completely open & was the only person in the house. The only thing I could think about is how silly it was to leave yourself purposefully exposed like that for someone with nefarious tendencies.
Idk, I don't like the idea of leaving my curtains or blinds open at night particularly because often the glare created from the lamps/lights in your home prevents you from seeing outside but anyone outside can see just fine - like the mirrors used in interrogation rooms. There are just some spaces where you need privacy in my opinion. What do you guys think?
