Why doesn't the Xbox One controller have a share button yet?

The Xbox One Chatpad has 2 keys that can be configured to be screenshot or video capture buttons.

Can I do this with the paddles on the Elite controller yet?

If your brain is still hitting select when games only ever prompted you to press select in the past you might need a new brain.

You only ever pressed select when the screen had the message "press select". I find it hard to believe your pressing the share button thinking it's select when no game has prompted you to do that for the last 5 years.

You're a bit of an asshole man. There was no need for that comment. I still accidentally press that damn button. Can't think of a single instance where I've conscious tried to press that button, pretty much all accidental. I still got muscle memory for Select/Back.

On ps4 you can double tap for a screenshot or hold it to start recording video without leaving the game.

You just changed my goddamn life friend. Whilst playing Lost Legacy, I hit the share button and wait a few seconds for that damn interface to load every time. This revelation will actually save me at least a few minutes per night. Not being sarcastic here, I'm pretty damn happy about that.

Ditto. My mind is blown.

How do you take multiple screenshots in a row without opening a menu and interrupting the game on Xbox?

Voice commands are slow and unresponsive.

Probably because it is awful, just like the touchpad on the ps4.

The touchpad is indeed awful but I wouldn't say the share button is. I just don't like the way everything is laid out on the DS4.

I'm good with the way MS does the screenshot/record stuff for now but I wouldn't mind a share button being added on a later revision. Just not if it means moving other buttons around. The Xbox controller is perfect as it is.

Glad I could help. Be sure to turn off the icon that pops up to avoid getting it in screenshots if you are taking them close together.

Your twitter feed is flooded with it because everyone has a PS4 and not because of a dedicated share button, simple as that. More playerbase

It's also easier to just share than to plug in a thumb drive, transfer files to it, then plug your drive into a PC, then upload them somewhere and then share it.

It's literally the only reason I have my Twitter account linked on my Switch as well (which also has a dedicated screenshot button).

Thats not really an issue on Xbox, since things can be autouploaded to xbox.com and are also easily accessible at xboxdvr.com.

Guide y guide y guide y guide y. Not sure what the question is. Yeah it briefly opens the guide, but it closes just as quickly. The screenshots won't include that part no matter what.

Same

For one game in particular especially since they ended up mapping what would have been there to "Press the Touchpad". Took me several tries of pressing every face/shoulder button to remember that.

The PS4 doesn't have a select button?

If you play shooters at all and check stats in game I'd be accidentally be sharing stuff all the time. I own an Xbox One and it's system works without issue. I'd take it over not getting a select button.

With that said if I owned a PS4 for long enough I would adjust but... that's still odd to me.

The touchpad is generally used where select would be used.
