possibly the best $99 prepaid phone?

I moved over to to prepaid today. I ended up buying a Lumia 610 and a decent plan. Awesome so far. :)

^ My friend has has so many shitty Kyocera phones break down on him... It sounds good on paper but they tend to fall apart fairly easily. Maybe they've changed since last year but it still seems sort of risky.

610? should have went for the 710!

I use cricket. I guess that falls under pre-paid? My iphone 4s has a $55 a month plan with unlimited everything (data, long distance, calling, texting etc)

No Annual Contract Samsung Galaxy S II at Walmart

Today, T-Mobile and Walmart announced a national retail exclusive of the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S™ II as a no annual contract kitted option, providing a premium smartphone experience at a discounted price for no annual contract customers. Now available, the Galaxy S II costs $299.00 when paired with a T-Mobile Monthly4G no annual contract plan of $30 per month or higher.

The Monthly4G $30 per month plan offers unlimited Web, with the first 5 GB at up to 4G speeds; unlimited text; and 100 minutes of talk, with 10 cents per minute after the first 100 minutes. In addition, Monthly4G plans require no annual contract, no credit check and no deposit, offering great value and flexibility to customers.

With the addition of the Galaxy S II to the lineup of no annual contract devices offered at Walmart, customers have access to premium devices, fast nationwide 4G network speeds and affordable service plan prices – all without an annual contract.

The Galaxy S II is also available through Walmart’s Family Mobile service, a monthly, no-annual-contract wireless plan powered by T-Mobile’s nationwide network. The Walmart Family Mobile Unlimited Talk, Text and Web plan is $45 per month for the first line and $35 per month for additional lines, and provides unlimited access to Web surfing, data and social media for all lines on the account (base plan includes the first 250MB per month at up to 3G speeds). Available at Walmart stores nationwide and on Walmart.com, Walmart Family Mobile was designed with families in mind and is one of the best value options available on any national carrier.

DAT $30 PLAN, plus $50 less than an unlocked Galaxy Nexus!

... but Qualcomm before they got good :(

I just went from post paid to pre-paid T-Mobile after checking the last 6 bills. Only used 75+ minutes once. Was paying $70 for Unlimited Talk/Txt/Web 2GB@4G Speeds + Handset Protection.

I had to go to a few stores here in L.A. before I got someone that would let get the $30 plan (100 Minutes/Unlimited TXT & Web 5GB@4G Speeds) without purchasing a new phone since I already have a Galaxy S3. Finally got hooked up at a store near Inglewood, Got the SIM, Plan plus Handset protection for $42 out the door. Next day I got my old number ported over with some issues but it got done. Now my bill will be $37 a month including Handset Protection.

Speeds are still great, This was a test done indoors where I live. Faster than my U-Verse 12mb home internet.

Hmm, I might switch from Virgin Mobile to this plan soon.

From what I can tell, the best prepaid wireless providers seem to be T-Mobile Prepaid ($30/month for unlimited text/data, 100 minutes talk plus 10 cents each extra minute, T-Mobile network) and Virgin Mobile ($35/month for unlimited text/data, 300 minutes talk, Sprint network). Are there any other major contenders I should know about? My contract with Verizon is about to expire and I can't stand continuing to pay their prices for my relatively low usage patterns.

I used Virgin Mobile for about a year. Overall I was very happy with the service.

I decided to make the switch to Sprint for three reasons.

1. Better phone selection.

The Optimus V was my shit. Excellent low end Android phone. The lack of ram, on board storage, and processing power ultimately became too much of a headache for me. That being said, for someone just starting out with smartphones the Optimus V is/was a hell of a place to start.

VM doesn't really have top shelf phones available on their network. Their best Android phone is the HTC Evo 3D which is last years old hat. At $300. 4G capability sure but on Sprints old WiMax which will never, ever be coming to my area. Currently Sprint doesn't offer 4G LTE in my area either but at least I know it's coming.

iPhone 4S is like $650. Yeah no.

2. Eventually I'll have unlimited 4G LTE. Eventually.

3. Better service. Yeah I know Sprint = Virgin Mobile but VM doesn't offer roaming. I can still make calls in places you otherwise couldn't with VM.

It is done, I am off AT&T. I was on advanced billing so they actually owe me some money.

I got the T-Mobile $30 plan. Will be using a friends spare Nokia N9 till the Galaxy Note 2 comes out. Feels liberating to back on a no-contract plan after 4 years.

For people who want to use non TMo phone on TMobile, you can go to airportal.de to find out if there is a 1900 3G tower in your neighterhood.

According to it, downtown Brooklyn has a 3G tower that covers where I work, but I haven't seen the 3G logo on my international Note yet.

Oh nice. I see a few points on there near me in the Dallas area.
I have an international Note also.
I'm still on AT&T for now because they seem to have grandfathered my 10 cent/minute GoPhone plan to be eligible for data, but if I ever need to switch that's looking like good news.

Not sure if this has been posted already but a few weeks ago I saw on another forum that Virgin Mobile customers were able to select the $25/month plan.

I wanted to wait for my monthly payment to go through to make sure it wasn't a mistake and can confirm that it works. For reference, the $25 plan was changed to $35 when the Triumph came out last year and I joined Virgin in March of this year with an Optimus V on the $35 plan.

Not sure what the exact requirements are and whether or not it depends on your phone or join date, etc.

To change it, go into your account, select change plan, you'll see the usual 3 options but at the bottom it should say, "Don't see the plan you're looking for? Click here.", and the $25 option should be there.

Saw the "H+" logo for the first time ever on my International Note.

Dropped right back to "E" when I walked a few step toward my house.

Anybody know if Virgin Mobile is phasing out the LG Optimus Slider? I was hoping to replace my Intercept with it, but local places are sold out. Hopefully it's just the price cut down to $129.99 - at least I hope it's a price cut and not a limited time sale.

get the Kyocera Rise instead. it's better in every measure. and cheaper too.

Smartphones are so fucking pointless for about 99% of the people that use them, and they are a gigantic waste of money.

Just give me a phone with 300 minutes per month. I don't need any of that internet or texting shit.

I plan on getting prepaid nex

Im currently on straight talk and have been satisfied with it but I'm considering getting on virgin because it would be cheaper and they have some nice phones but people I know don't just tell me virgin is not good but they make it seem terrible. What are some of your guys experiences with virgin mobile?

well, if the people saying that live in your coverage area, maybe there just isn't good coverage there for Virgin Mobile. check the coverage maps on their website.

I feel like it's come to the point of having to choose between my tablet or phone as the on the go device. And I have ultimately chosen my tablet. I can't let go of my smartphone fully at the moment so I was thinking of getting on a prepaid plan to get my bills down.

Can I use any unlocked phone as a prepaid? Like if I currently had an unlocked iPhone 5 or if I went about and purchased a Lumia 920 online?

the coverage actually looks decent in my general area. going out miles and miles seems more iffy though. and one person i asked who is on virgin mobile said it was really good. maybe i should try it out

if the phone was an at&t or t mobile phone you should be able to use it on straight talk

Just switched to Virgin Mobile today on a Galaxy Reverb. Any outgoing call either takes 20-30 seconds to connect or it doesn't connect at all. Incoming calls sometimes don't even get to my phone or they take forever to connect as well. I have no problems with data/texting/etc, just the calls. I know 3 other people who use VM here and haven't any problems with the coverage so I know its not that. Is this problem something with Android settings or the phone itself?

I'm doing T-Mobile's $30 100-minute, 5GB 4G data prepaid plan with a Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G. I'm about two months in, and it's okay thus far. I went over my data limit the other day so I'm stuck at ~60Kbps for a couple days.

sounds like a phone and/or signal issue. it shouldn't take that long. can you try from a different location?

That's what I was thinking but I'm new to Android and wasn't sure if I screwed something up somehow. :lol

I'll have to test it out later and if its not working, I'll have to get a replacement.

Just bought a galaxy nexus (Wanted an S3 but dang those contracts). I switched my postpaid tmobile to prepaid. Now have the 50unlimited (up to 100mb) plan. Is this good? Am i still being ripped off? help me gaf.
