In the Nolan movies, yeah.

Can someone sum up the 30+ pages for me? Too much to read through.
What has happened that caused so much discussion.
Read Cyan's post, at least strictly for the topic's primary discussion.
Beyond that? Something about jars and Sherlock/Batman.
Basically, a bunch of people coming in and saying 'lol videos games are for dudes', women saying it's more complicated than that, people explaining the reasons that even a forum like Gaf can be offputting for women, jars, some people coming in and saying that women only like social games and are only into gaming because of boyfriends, and therefore can't be 'real' gamers, jars, repeat the first bits, sherlock, batman, and now here![]()
The show is called Elementary.
Nononononono, first ep of season 2 is great so far.
A lot of people's favorite of the whole bunch.
Well, according to many on gaming side, yes there are enough people who would be completely put off by the idea to make it impossible for the game to actually be profitable.Out of curiosity has anyone seen this actually said? I don't doubt someone did, and I have seen milder versions like preferring not to play a female character, but I'm morbidly curious if there are people actually completely put off by there being a strong female character in a game.
no uNah he is pretty dumb all the time.
Well I was wondering more about the presence of them in a game period, not even as the primary player character, as one's arguably more of a preference and the other's straight up misogyny.Well, according to many on gaming side, yes there are enough people who would be completely put off by the idea to make it impossible for the game to actually be profitable.

I'd say if someone's unwilling to play a game that stars a female protagonist, they've got some pretty fucked up ideas about women. We're all human, and more alike than we are different. If someone is saying: "Sorry, I can't ever relate to a woman" I can't help but conclude they don't even see them as human.Well I was wondering more about the presence of them in a game period, not even as the primary player character, as one's arguably more of a preference and the other's straight up misogyny.
I guess the cover art issues could be proof though...
I don't find the discussion of who can beat up who particularly interesting when it comes to superheroes. I wouldn't mind a Batman vs. Black Panther fight, but the enjoyment there is more in the animation/art, fight choreography, execution, etc. and not who actually wins.Actually according to some girls when I went out, I am big and scary. That was kind of disheartening.
Anyways on the topic of batmans. Black Panther could kick his butt.

That remind of of the GTASA thread.
oh goodness imagine the GTA thread when there is a GTA thread with a female protagonist
"I can't relate to this". Which is pretty much what a lot of people said about Carl Johnson, and he's a dude. That remind of of the GTASA thread.

That would actually be really interesting.
I actually wonder if that's an empathy problem period as I'm sure many people CAN relate to, say, dogs or cats just fine. Nevermind the GTA:SA example there, some people just seem unwilling to go beyond a certain narrow frame.I'd say if someone's unwilling to play a game that stars a female protagonist, they've got some pretty fucked up ideas about women. Maybe they've been burned too many times by girls playing MMO's for attention and gifts. And secondly, what kind of guy looks at that and thinks "Male gamers only? Now this I gotta play!"
Really ?
Batman vs Sherlock discussion and NOBODY linked the Epic Rap Battles of History episode on that ????
Shame =|
Btw, the next season starts tomorrow =3

This might be slightly off-topic, but often I'll get ads on GAF about some online MMO or something that advertises itself as "FOR MALE GAMERS ONLY." Here are two examples:

Not only is it sexist, but it's an absolutely stupid way to advertise your game. For one, you're alienating female gamers and making them not want to play your game. And secondly, what kind of guy looks at that and thinks "Male gamers only? Now this I gotta play!"
That is something I never got, I have seen people loose whole accounts trying to entertain a girl.
Not trying to be rude but, why you giving away all that, for a girl who isn't giving you anything in return, not even friendship, let alone screwing.
I am not saying all girls in MMO's are like this, that would be a lie. But every once in a while I see a dude just giving ass long of like Paid shit, for someone they barely know.
What happened?
My guess is they're trying to entice horny men making them think there's nudity or something in it. I'm going to assume these are pretty generic games that nobody - men or women - would want to play in the first place and that's there 'marketing' ploy. This might be slightly off-topic, but often I'll get ads on GAF about some online MMO or something that advertises itself as "FOR MALE GAMERS ONLY." Also consider that some of those are guys pretending to be girls. (But no one calls them out on their shit.)That is something I never got, I have seen people loose whole accounts trying to entertain a girl.

ITT, we discover a lot of people really enjoy categories, boxes, and lines in the sand.
that was kind of an exaggerated joke line, along with the Deliciously Defensive part, and quite a few other bits. i don't type 100% from my personality, just a persona.
neogaf isn't very good at understanding inflection through text.
Wut. I wish a mod would comment as to why specifically; I'm hard-pressed to imagine what she might've said in this thread that was permaban-worthy.As an aside, PoliGAF says Dax's ban is reportedly permanent, possibly for a post in this thread. Thought that might be of interest.
I'm left wondering why we should invest any time participating in this forum if we can get banned at the drop of a hat.
Because of the people and the discussions. If you end up forming friendships with people here, it's good to have a backup line of communication.
Most people who have friendships here build them in IRC, to my knowledge.

I've built several friendships here that I've never taken to IRC.
Most of my friendships on here started from people playing Team Fortress 2 with me.
I don't think I have any NeoGAF friends that don't play TF2...weird. lol.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was one particular post in this thread. As an aside, PoliGAF says Dax's ban is reportedly permanent, possibly for a post in this thread. Thought that might be of interest.
