Keep in mind I guess that during the first few weeks of release retailers will be competing with each other & that will probably get launch prices down to $375 or so. Still, it's about $50 more than I was expecting and will probably mean one less launch game me, good thing xmas is coming up so soon after!

Don't forget our GST in Australia. What is it, 10%? So about $360 retail ends up about $396.

Blame the GST, not Nintendo.

Yeah that's a good point. But the games are still over priced, they should be $79.2 including GST, not $100.

factor in how the australian dollar is weaker than the euro and yen

The problem isn't that it's weaker, but that it's undervalued. Although in the case of the Wii hardware it's actually fairly priced, the games are still AUD $20 more than what the conversion works out to.

X360 gets regular discounts to $450 (core), $580 (premium - is this actually a new price or what everyone seems to have it).

No way will anyone be interested in this at $400. A pre-launch drop like the GC had would be nice.

if you look around at non-gaming specialists you can find it most of those places have it for 580

Hang on, that can’t be correct, it wouldn’t be 10% GST on $360, as that already includes the US sales tax of 8%. That means we would be taxed twice.

Shouldn’t it be US $250 -> AUD $330, then with 10% GST it becomes AUD $363?

Just pre ordered my Wii At Toys R Us. $50 down and another free game of my choice, pretty good deal i think. They had these bar coded tickets outside the stroe where the wii promo was and they only had three left so i dont know if they just replace them later or it may be limited
amoutn of pre orders.

The Wii perorders are Toys R Us are limited. They had quite a few left t Toys R Us at Chadstone the other day when I preordered, so... Yeah.

But still, my question remains:

Will Toys R Us count the Wii Sports pack in as that free game, or let us have another free game of choice too? It would suck big balls if they say you're free game is Wii Sport.

the free game is independent ofNintendo's offer, the guy said you can come in and choose any game and we offer that independently from whatever Nintendo is offering.

What's the point of that if there is no sound? What're the rumours supposed to be?

I updated the link with a better quality video, and the point is NAL are advertising and getting the name out into the public, something that is a rare occurance.

I'm not a fan of single sentences that run from 3rd to 1st person perspective.

Are you directly quoting the guy as in, "You can come in and choose any game and we offer that independently from whatever Nintendo is offering."?

Because if so, that's fantastic news for my Toy R Us pre order I made in early August... Hmm maybe I'll make Excite Truck the third game to get with Zelda and Trauma Center.

Very nice.

I was going to wait for the Wii to drop a little in price but with the free game that makes it all worth while.

Wii + Zelda in December for me.

When do the toys r us free game offers expire?

I heard that JB-Hifi are offering the Wii for only $330 if you pre-order, and Toys ‘R’ US are still honouring their free game with pre-order deal. I’m going go early next week to confirm the JB deal (unless someone here would like to do this :)).

I already got almost $350 down on the Wii (including games) at EB. If EB won’t price match either pre-order deal, then I’m cancelling my pre-order and I will take my business elsewhere.

If true then I may still get one, since I could have it and the component cable for well under $400.

Take into account the buffer that they put on in case our dollar dies and you get $400.
