I got in my replacement wii today and copied my old saves off the internal memory into a sd card. When I put it in the new wii the saves show up under sd card, but it tells me when trying to copy them that I have to play the game first. wtf. I tried playing some games and then transfering, but of course I allready have a save and it won't let me.

I tried playing a game then erasing the save before trying to transfer the old save, and it gave me a new message: the data was not copied. ARGH!

You had to return your Wii because it wouldn't update the firmware correctly, right? Because it's a known issue that save files made on a Wii without the newer firmware won't work an a Wii with the newer firmware.

Sorry, I have nothing substantial to add. I just generally feel bad that you got screwed like that. Hopefully you didn't lose TOO much progress. :/

Ah, thanks. Luckily I was playing other games and waiting to play Zelda, I'd been infuriated if I were a dozen or so hours into it. Losing some Monkeyball and Excite Truck progress is no big deal.
