Wii U and Limited/Full RGB Range

Full + Full and Limited + Limited should have the exact same color ranges on your TV. If they don't somebody screwed up big time with the TV's firmware.

Hmm well I guess :/ I'm talking about a monitor here but that shouldn't change things much should it? That's the monitor: http://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-23ET83V-W-led-monitor

With Raist's images above I already tested that the monitor has a setting for Limited RGB though it doesn't seem to work all that good. I guess Monitor Firmwares are un-upgradable right?

My Wii U arrived today (Yay!). I checked my settings to verify the TV was set to auto, but it wasn't. It was set on native and was greyed out. I can't change anything. I have a Samsung UN37EH5000.

Edit: Weird. I swapped HDMI ports with my PS3 and it's fine now.

Since sometimes companies notice threads on gaf, I figure I don't want to let this one die.

Just beat all the circuits on MK8 but never once turned on my monitor and never once did I get to experience the wonderful music and sounds in surround sound on my sound system.

For how much effort goes into these games, I really wish I could experience them with accurate colors and great sound. But I guess it's just asking for entirely too much.

If you are lucky enough to have a television that allows you to change the 'HDMI Black Level' to low for limited range sources while using PC mode (UN55F6300) the Wii U look great and play better due to having a lower input lag and excellent OOB settings for Contrast/Brightness/Gamma with no adjustments. This is definitely ideal until Nintendo cuts the bullshit and adds this miniscule effort option to their firmware.

huh? just any TV that has a game mode is fine. My Sony Bravia is limited only (except on analog VGA input) and setting to game mode gives me proper colors and less lag than the gamepad (<16ms)

It is circumstantial, game mode on this set doesn't look all that good, image is overly sharp and colors are too saturated for my tastes even after calibrating. Gamma also can not be adjusted correctly and is always a tad off. PC mode passes the Contrast/Brightness/Gamma tests at lagom.nl with OOB settings. Not sure if it's like that for other TV's, but if you can make PC mode work, it is the ideal way to view content.

Bumping this because Bayonetta 1 looks extremely dark on my U with limited RGB setting on my TV. It looks crushed to me, but as this thread indicates limited should still be the way to go?

Knowing Nintendo they will not add Full RGB? Funny when even 360 and PS3 had this feature. :/

I'm kinda confused, but I think Nintendo fixed something, at least the TV detection.

So, my Wii U always looked washed out (I could compare it to the gamepad so I was sure of it). This topic told me to set my TV to limited, my my shitty ass Sanyo TV has no setting (at least nothing my limited brain can conceive), so I had to put up with the bad colors.

After many months, I just stopped paying attention to the colors, but today I decided to compare the TV to the gamepad again and the colors seem fixed now! I seem to remember people complaining that it was the Wii U sending a bugged signal to the TV, so it wasn't detecting the RGB properly. Well, seems to be fixed, at least on my set.

If this is old news, or I'm dumb,
or both,
feel free to let me know.

I was able to get even bigger contrast and deep black levels by tweaking the white balance, RGB-offset = 10 (to avoid crashed blacks), and RGB-gain to the max level. It's really day and night, most when you are forced to play in limited Movie mode because the annoying eco thing (yeah can't be disabled)
