wii U discs have round edges. #gamechanging with comfort.

Looks bigger than a dismembered cat's paw and Xbox 360 controller:

Some guy has some less than nice things to say about it:

Discuss. Are you offended by its girth?

Stop supporting the Mega Thread agenda.

I'm just disappointed this won't fix my problem of discs sliding around and scratching one another when I stack them. I was hoping for a pringle-shaped disc format.

Except if you were having disc read errors. Purple discs were the bane there.

Sometimes yes... but I once had a defective PS2 that was the opposite! It wouldn't play DVD games, but would play blue CD games. The PS2 breaks in mysterious ways :P

So if we decided to start throwing Wii-U discs like ninja stars ya can't hurt people as good

*shakes head in disapproval*

This is all part of the government's plan to take away our ability to defend ourselves. After Obama takes our guns, they will be unstoppable.

Huh? Standard Bluray has round edges as well. It feels very different holding a BR disc compared to a DVD disc because of this. Now, of course, this variation could be even more rounded or something.

They *most definitely* are. Try holding a DVD then a BD, there's no way you can't tell the difference.

What is the reason for it? Is there some sort of mechanical (or otherwise) benefit of the rounded edges? Genuinely want to know.

this suddenly reminded me of a shite movie about this white-haired alien shooting DVDs from his arm. Maybe Dolph Lundgren was in it or maybe not

Anyone else think that this may be to combat piracy? If the disk reader could tell whether the disk inserted had sharp or rounded edges that would be pretty clever
