Wii U Virtual Console - News and Releases

Anyone got a list of what's missing from NA/Europe's VC? I updated NA's GBA list.

Updates for NA

In the NES section you are missing the following titles that have released in NA -
Bases Loaded
Castlevania II & III
(you have Clu Clu Land twice for some reason?)
Mystical Ninja isn't an NES game
Mach Rider
Mighty Bomb Jack
Pac-Land (in addition to Pacman)
Soccer
Super C
Super Dodge Ball
Ufouria

In the SNES section you are missing the following titles that have released in NA -
Brawl Brothers
Megaman X2

In the GBA section you are missing the following titles that have released in NA -
Klonoa

Megaman Battle Network (GBA) releases for US VC tomorrow.

Is it wrong to want WWF No Mercy for N64 on virtual console? Would also love to see them flesh out more classics for Wii U VC as Earthbound, Minnish Cap and Paper Mario are getting lonely.

Has there ever been an attempt to explain why the original NES Contra isn't on any Virtual Console service? I think the only Nintendo-platform re-release of it is on the Contra 4 DS card....

I wanted more third-party N64 games in general. Bomberman Hero was the only one I remember coming out.

Is it wrong? No.

Is it going to happen? Between the death of the publisher (THQ), the fact that I'm not sure they can legally release a game with "WWF" in it, and the fact that there's a murder-suicide perpetrator playable... it happening would be classified as a miracle.

WWF No Mercy is a "classic?"
Yikes.

Paper Mario isn't on the Wii U VC
And, there are plenty more classics on the Wii U VC than just Earthbound and "Minnish Cap" - I hope you've checked them out.

If you're a fan of pro wrestling video games the N64 is your Golden Age.

Ufouria was released in NA last week.

Those THQ wrestling games on the N64 were some of the most fun games I've ever played with other people. I would most certainly consider them classics.

Hmmmm I am an idiot I had just played Paper Mario on my Wii U but it was thru the Wii VC. Just downloaded from club nintendo. Nothing to see here :)

As for No Mercy I can see that its not a classic to some but my friends and I sank the most multiplayer hours into that game during the n64 era. I would settle for them reskinning Benoit as Aki Man and releasing it Mr. Dream style.

Sorry if this has been covered, but I don't really stay current on VC news.

Has there been any word as to why FFVI is not out here in the US? I've wanted to give that game a proper play through for years now, but there's no "definitive" version available anywhere. I like to play 16-bit games on handhelds, and the Wii U GamePad would be perfect.

Why, Square. =(

There's been no word on Square Enix games in the west for either 3DS or Wii U Virtual Consoles. They came pretty late on Wii VC so I expect they'll show up eventually though.

Yes. Yes it is. I just took out the N64 to play it again and it is a blast. So much more fun than today's versions.

If this happens, I would be outrageously happy. Come on, NoA!

Well, they're putting them out in Japan and that's a much smaller VC market than America. Square Enix can be dumb sometimes but hopefully they're not that dumb.

I posted this list in the downloads thread but it probably makes more sense here. It's the NOA VC backlog, prepare to weep.

I wouldn't be so sure of that, unfortunately...

I mean, hopefully they don't take that long with it...
But, Square has been pretty dumb the past 15+ years.

I mean, I'd be worried if the games weren't coming in any region. But if they're bothering in Japan then it only makes sense that they would in the one market where VC actually sells, right? Right??? :[

I mean think of that GBA stuff they can resell.

So based on some recent changes to the eShop hub, I guess we're getting another Megaman VC month (this time on Wii U)? I suppose Mega May went well then. Or Capcom devs are just bored in b/w all the social games...

Hub pages for MM5, MM6, MMX3 (yay), and Megaman Battle chip Challenge (a MMBN spin-off?) are now up.

Donkey Kong Land 2 and 3 are poor-quality ports/remakes of Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3, and honestly aren't worth bothering with for any reason really.

Donkey Kong Land 1 is at least a different game from Donkey Kong Country 1 (which later had a port/remake for GBC, while 2 and 3 didn't. Then, of course, they all did again for GBA), so it's at least worth checking out for that.

It's a different game, sure, but I'm almost certain I remember it being ridiculously dark and hard to make out what was happening. I wonder if this was right before I got my first pair of glasses, though.

Yeah, although this issue would be lessened on a 3DS, of course.

I always played my Gameboy outside, so lighting was never really an issue for me.
Unlike the 3DS, which is extremely difficult to play outside - but fortunately I play mostly inside now.

We're all going on a lot of assumptions about video game companies doing things that make sense.

Trust me, I'm fully in the prayin' and hopin' camp, but I can also see it going in the opposite direction.

Yeah it is, actually. I think all of the THQ/AKI WCW and WWF games from the N64 are pretty highly regarded.
