WildStar: Reloaded |OT| Full Steam Ahead!

There's only 1 PVE server.

There's only one NA PvE server. I'm not sure if an Exile NA guild was ever established back on game release. The guilds will just end up being who you can group with. We can use the Discord server to chat with everyone across servers, I don't recall if circles are cross-faction or cross-server.

Not yet, but I'm 100% sure there will be.

They have "megaservers" for WildStar which use a TON of server hardware each, so there's only 2 servers in each region.

Thanks for the clarification. :)

So the f2p is better and more restriction free than swtor f2p right? I had an account at launch. How are old subs treated? And is there a GAF guild?

Here's some more guest passes. I don't believe any of them have been used yet but I could be mistaken. Quote to reveal.

It's all convenience stuff for the most part if you're a subscriber. Everything is obtainable without paying since you can buy CREDD with in-game currency which gives you a month of subscription.

If you had a boxed copy you will notice almost no difference if i'm reading the charts right.

There's an NA PvE Dominion guild and an EU PvE Exile guild. Details are in the OT.

I'm still thinking I'd rather go exiles, tbh.

Cassians do have better hairstyles though

But Aurins > Everything.
Aurins are aight. It's really more about having The Things and Mechano-zombies (on the "good guy" team! Whatatwist.jpg) though.

Or the fact that Chua and Draken are just... eugh

Ill play whatever EU gaf plays...

...but female Mordesh > all

Having levelled both sides to 50, I far prefer Exile city to Dominion, but overall Dominion experience over Exile.

Although Exiles get Algoroc, and that is one of my absolute favourite MMO zones ever.

I just checked and as of drop 4 it looks like circles are cross-faction. We would be able to have a GAF circle so everyone could chat, we can still only group with our own faction.

Both factions get to go to the Moon right? That's my favorite zone I think. Low grav is fun.

Edit: Step aside Evilore.

The only faction specific quest zones are the first two per side, it converges before farside yeah =)

Is there anyone with a live account on NA PvE Exile side (not guest pass, they're restricted) who can help me test this cross-faction Circle business?

Edit: Found someone. Will update if it works.

Edit 2: Looks like the post I read was mistaken. We'll have to use Discord or similar after all if we want to chat across faction lines.

Hmm, might give this a go, I played the original beta and it was solid at its core but I heard the devs just fucked it up with poor design making.

I'll try this out as well once it launches. Played a bit last year and a bit in the f2p beta and while it seems like the first couple of levels are a bit of a slog I do enjoy the active combat so it's good to hear that it'll become more involved later on. Will be playing on the EU servers.

I've always been curious about Wildstar but was scared away by all of the post-launch negativity and talk of the dwindling player base. I've still got 19 days left on my current WoW sub (with another time card unused), I might let that lapse and then try Wildstar out for free to see if it's something I want to sub to.

I love the aesthetic of this game. It's always been one of its more super appealing aspects. It just looks fantastic.

Watching the raid video from back in the day. Guy said exactly what I wanted to hear lol. Do they really lend themselves more to actual in the moment gameplay and teamwork as much as they say? "No website walkthrough will prepare you" etc?

I'm not sure how they've changed, but they were pretty well like that before. Guides and stuff were obviously useful, but it's REALLY REALLY obvious who sucks at avoiding things in your raids. Sometimes highly coordinated but even when they're not it's like having 20 people playing mega man at the same time and nobody can fuck up y'know? or very few.

For example the third boss in the first zone (one of my favorite bosses) Phagetech Prototypes:

4 bosses, 2 active at a time and it rotates in a set order. Think Omnotron Defense System if you ever killed that boss in wow. Every boss has a main set of abilities as well as a 'big' ability they cast when they activate, and you'll go through the rotation 2.5 times before you hit berserk and they all come active.

First guy is heavy tank damage and has a cast that...heals? the robots. I might be mixing them up. he has something you need to interrupt periodically.

Second one that comes active summons repair bots that will travel to the other active member of the prototypes and heals them for a ton if it gets there. It also periodically puts a + shaped telegraph that shoots spikes up a second later under almost every raid member, it'll do 5-6 of these in a row then wait about 20 seconds to do it again. When it becomes active it sucks 5 people up into the sky and gives them each a colored ring underneath them, around the room there are 4 colored zones that match the rings, these people are phased from the rest of the group and cannot interact with anyone until all 4 of them reach their matching color, they also constantly drop void zones under themselves so you have to do it quickly or you'll die just running around.

The third guy fires mini-tohou style balls around the room and swaps the prototypes positions periodically, ala twin emperors in Ahn'Qiraj in wow. When he comes active a vortex summons 4 members and tethers them to a ball with a ring of electricty around them, they've got to kill the ball to escape the tethers and are usually stuck avoiding all the +s and the touhou balls while being barely able to move.

The fourth and final guy summons robots that fan out around the room and start to self destruct, if they finish their cast befoer you kill them they leave a giant poison puddle on the floor there for the rest of the fight. When he comes out he launches a volley of missiles that slowly land around the room and deal a ton of raid damage if they hit the floor, so at least one person needs to stand in each missile to prevent that.

Now, on paper, none of this sounds any more difficult than any number of most mmo bosse,s but in practice you'll find shitloads of your raid dead during progression, and it was one of the easier bosses.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkogI-idNME You won't see every mechanic since some are randomly on a small part of the raid, but that was one of our kills and you can see how hectic it gets.

Forget the bosses, we have more luck killing them then some of the thrash mobs haha. The moment you want to take it easy. Everyone dies.

Also, the first miniboss boss with the eggs and the radiation bath is probably the best introduction boss to raiding in Wildstar. Very execution heavy, not much in terms of tactic. But damn will you have a ton of dead when you're new.

Fun times :D

oh yeah the trash was no joke. NEVER PULL THE RHINOS.

Game re-installed, add-ons in and ready to go. Will make my new Esper DPS and get going Tuesday after work (maybe an hour Monday night). Will join up with the GAF Guild then :)

I still have my 50 medic but don't know if I want to play him again.

What's the deal with mana regen? In that first dungeon (which is just a fucking tutorial dungeon lol) I had to spam heal the tank and every fight I was oom by the end. Sure it doesn't help that I was only 10 at the time, and i dont have any shield heals yet for example, but still, it worried me

Have they made the dungeons at cap easier? I remember them being incredibly unforgiving. I'm all for a challenge, but we were wiping dozens of time and spending 3+ hours in each dungeon.

They are easier in a sense yes, but they are still difficult. Every boss has a respawn point now which helps for sure.

Servers are gonna be down on Monday for 17 hours as prep for F2P

Are you setup to heal via the amp system or whatever they call it? Not sure how much you can really do with that at a low level anyway. It's really not a baby dungeon game like WoW or TOR or something similar. A lot of it is dependent on people interrupting like they should or avoiding telegraphs. There's only so much you can do to carry a tank or DPS that are idiots in this game, the other MMOs have way more forgiving brute-healing to make up for shitty players in my experience.

Do guest passes no longer work? I tried to enter a fresh one into my girlfriend's account but it kept giving me an error.

Hard to say. It could be due to your level and having less options. It could be due to the tank being undergeared, or eating damage he shouldn't be, or dps not killing fast enough, or you being undergeared. Just let your group know to give you time to recharge. Don't bother to top people off. If a DPS is not in danger of dying then leave them at that health unless you have a very cheap heal you can throw on them. If they eat a telegraph and die then that's their fault. If you're an Esper, things become a bit easier once you get Meditate for some focus regen. Dungeons in this game are hard though, expect to struggle. Especially as a healer since mismanaging your focus can be catastrophic.

They should still work. People were redeeming them in this thread a handful of hours ago. Maybe they brought the redemption system offline since we're 12 hours away from the servers going down.

Had she used one before?

I don't think so but it's been so long since we last played, so I can't quite remember :/

Hmmm.. weird. I can't find the particular error code in online searches so it might be a new one for this reason.
